So yes, the Finnish citizens decided to join NATO and the process was exactly as required by the constitution. You can make your own rules and talk about referendum, but that is not how decisions are legally made in Finland. However, not a single party believed their voters would like to say no, so the vote was 188 for, 8 against. The biggest promoters of NATO won the parlamentary elections that followed.
@@sampohonkala4195 You have to calculate the maintenance and utilization costs as well as the weaponry, then you will see that the cost can actually be even higher. Regarding the interest rate, I meant the interest on our entire public credit base, which means that we will see even larger tax increases in the next few years. It will be fantastic and we will be even happier then ever.
One can believe whatever, but Nato affects all citizens and should therefore be voted on. You are right we seldom vote on anything even though it affects us all. It is just handed to us, and we take it.
@@MaxZagar It is not handed to us, we vote for the Parliament to pass the laws the way we want them. If not happy, we change the Parliament and government. Somehow you don't seem to understand how representative democracy works.
You dont pay anything, couse you dont work. But you have a country who pays your living anyways. Fighters helping you writing in a free country...
@@kessu27How do you know is he's working or not? Just assuming through internet? :D

I was living in Finland for 18 years. And some people think that i do not speak even Finnish. I have Finnish passport! Originally i am from Russia. And why people think that i am Russian and i should not have Finnish passport?
Literally nobody thinks so.
maybe because of that three day war in ukraine?
@@vezkup It was happened before also. For example in 2017. One guy asked from me do i have finnish citizen ship. I said yes. And he was laughing
@@orangutang6667 well we have our fair share of narrowminded people here in Finland, as probably does every country. It's a human condition and at least I welcome all good people of Russia (which probably is most people in Russia, at least all I've met for what I can remember) :)
@@orangutang6667I personally have nothing against the regular russian citizens, just the aggressive political views of the government and the soldiers that do warcrimes. I've many russian friends as o work in constructions in Finland.

Ensinnäkin, kokoomus ja republikaanit kuuluvat saman kattojärjestön alle… Demokraatit, jonka kattojärjestön alle kuuluu mm. SDP, vastusti orjuuden lakkauttamista. Voisin jatkaa, mutta turhaahan sitä on kaikille yrittää kaikkea selittää.
Is it just me or should’ve Stubb answered ”Thank you” to the ”It’s a beautiful country” comment? ”It is” sounds arrogant to me. He did well otherwise.
Christ. Ge didn't make earth and Finland isn't owned by him.
Perfect answer for e.g. US audience, but considered bragging in Finnish. Finns are very poor in trade abroad and advocating themselves for the audience as the average Finnish is so honest and modest.
It is beautiful, should he have denied it? Should the president have said that no, it’s ugly. He’s representing the country.
@@torpmorp1324 No I meant, imho, he should’ve said ”Thank you, yes it is” or ”Thank you, I agree”. I’ve been taught as a kid that if somebody gives you a compliment you first thank the person.

Ihan hyvinhän se näyttää edustavan Suomea tuolla...🥸
Pressan päätehtävä on edustaa Suomea ulkomailla. Enemmän epäilyttäisi, jos se kykkisi kotimaassa tekemässä sisäpolitiikkaa, mikä nimenomaan ei presidentille kuulu.
Here is stubbs market team cheering him. Ridicilous.
