Bro.. what’s even more impressive about the player that this guy was.. is the fact that 6 years later the team and that position has yet to get anyone close to his level of play.
He would still be tearing it up and punishing receivers if he was still playing.. Ryan Shazier is a living legend and not only on the field. That’s just a smidge of the impact of the guy.

One thing I can say as a steelers fan when Troy Palomalu went down that exposed us when Ryan Shazier went down that exposed us. When TJ Watt went down last year, that exposed us as a defensive unit. Injuries are a part of the game, but I hate that when a big-name defensive player goes down, we in most times don't hold our own on the defense side of the ball.

@@CincyTurkgood question. He was 6-1 230 soaking wet which was small for an ILB at the time he was drafted. However, he was absurdly athletic with a 42” vertical, 4.3 40 and fantastic agility. The knock on him was that his size wouldn’t allow him to be successful vs the run, but he anticipated plays so well he frequently made tackles in the backfield before the RB could find a hole or turn the corner. He was almost like if Polamalu played ILB. Teams saw his success and began drafting similar players at the position; oversized cornerbacks if you will, who could cover tight ends and receivers with their speed but also bang heads against the run. Pre-Shazier, ILB’s were usually 250-260, 4.7 thumpers who were helpless against the pass. He was great against everything.

Yup they may have beat the Patriots in week 15 without the Jesse James no catch controversy and won the #1 seed. After beating the Titans in the divisional round, they would’ve played the patriots in the AFC championship game again or against the Jaguars. If they played the Jaguars focusing on their current opponent and having a healthy Shazier, they may have win. If the Patriots won the divisional game and Brady’s stitch thing happened, they more than likely would’ve won with a healthy Shazier and AB. In the Super Bowl, it’s a close one.
