I bought one not long ago. I already have several Henrys, but to me the Rio Bravo had several "improvements" that appealed to me. Besides the M-lock grooves, the barrel is a tad shorter and overall the gun is a bit lighter making it all a bit more maneuverable. Also my aging eyes appreciate the fiber optic sights. Speaking of sights, adjusting them involves just spinning a dial as opposed to "lightly tapping with a hammer". I love traditional firearms, but I also appreciate the 21st century modifications that Rossi brought to the table.
I agree. I recently got the Rossi out to do a little plinking, and I've come to realize, that it's an excellent rifle for the price. Thanks for watching!
Bought this for my daughters as their first .22 this Christmas. We’ve put about 250 rounds through it since Christmas Day and we’ve had 0 problems. We love this rifle for what it is.
Yea i inherited one. Basically brand new with a scope. It’s kinda small for me so it’s gunna be xmas for my lil man! He’s gunna go nuts! I’m thinking about still getting him the Rossi youth model semi auto so he can have 2 😅
I purchased one of these a few months ago and I am really impressed. We live out in the woods so we have to deal with varmints getting in the chicken coop and this little rifle is great for that. I like it because it will shoot longs, long rifles and shorts. I keep shorts in it mainly for raccoons and opossum.
Bought one of these partially because of your video. The synthetic stock and MLOK slots give this firearm a unique look that is very appealing to me. Thanks for taking the time to make a thorough, informative video on this little rifle. There’s not much info to be had on them, and minus the tube feeding issue, it seems like a solid little gun. I’ll be picking mine up this coming week and am very excited! Played with mine after I got my paper work sorted and I too was surprised by how smooth the action was. If it has any issues, I don’t mind putting in a little work to get a firearm working smoothly as I enjoy tinkering. Thanks for what you do sir! Enjoy. Stay safe.
I think that issue will get worked out, I could always pull the one out of the Gallery 22, I didn't have any problems with it! Thanks for watching Santee!
I had an issue with the magazine tube on a Henry. I flared out the end of the tube by spinning the handle of a butternife around on the end of the tube.
Thats a bummer on the magazine. I reviewed this rifle for my channel and after now almost 2k rds fired no issues at all including shooting 22 shorts.. Its definitely became probably my most fun plinker I own. Nice review, hope it gets lined out for you.

Great vid sir. This got me thinking... since the barrel and sights on this Rossi look exactly like those on the Rossi RB22 bolt action and RS22 semi-auto, I'm thinking I could mount the excellent Tech Sights on a Rossi lever gun. Can you confirm for me, is it in fact the same sights on there as an RB22 or RS22, mounted to the barrel with two screws out back and two screws up front? Thank you!
I just picked up one of these yesterday. Worked the action quite a bit that evening to smooth things out. My tube seems to be working fine but that spring does seem very weak, though I don't have anything to compare it to. I do wish the tube had a little more of a pocket to lock in place. At the range I didn't have any issue but it seems like it's hardly secured. Shot and cycled wonderfully. Not a single problem.
Mine has gotten better with use and a little scotch bright. I agree on the magazine tube bayonet catch, I've had to look at it a couple times just to make sure it was latched. Thanks for watching!
You could always file that little notch a bit taller or add a thicker O ring. That would apply more upward pressure locking the pin into the slot harder. I think a O ring would be worth a try first though.
My daughter and I put 45 rounds through it the other day after I bought it. Had a pretty nasty misfeed. Couldn’t get the bullet freed up without taking it apart. No issues with the feed tube though. Mine came out of the box with a ton of oil in it, and some grime in the chamber.
I had one for a couple weeks but it had a defective barrel so I returned it for refund with my LGS. As for safeties on the rifle, you showed us two, but also, if the gun is cooked and loaded, you can open the lever just a half inch and the bolt assembly jumps out about 3/16 inch so that the firing pin is not going to punch the cartridge if it is in the chamber. The action on mine functioned flawlessly and I really liked it. It just had a defective cracked and chipped muzzle
I have this exact same rifle, and when I use Winchester Super X, that is what mine does, when I use regular bulk ammo federal or Remington I do not have that problem with the tube
I have the same one. And no tube problems. I hope it works itself out. Mine also shoots right, i keep moving the sight, i hope i work that out. Thank you for the video.
Not sure if it’s been mentioned or not but you can get one with a nickel or gold receiver and hardwood stock for $370-$380 online and significantly cheaper than the Henry Golden Boy.
Both the Gallery and the Rio Bravo are available with wood furniture. If I would have had the choice, I would have picked the wood furniture myself. The only Plastic lever action I really want, is the Mossberg 464SPX in 30-30, just because it's crazy looking! Thanks for watching!
I've rapidly cycled 15rds 10 times and never had an issue. I guess it's luck? None of my ammo ever gets stuck either. After I got used to it. I took it to the farm and came back home with 16 rabbits. I was hitting well at about 40 yards. I did miss plenty of times, but having the lever to reload pretty quick, it usually took my 2 or 3 shots to hit one while they're running away. Most of the rabbits I hit were from 15yds to 25yds. I did kill a medium-sized hog. Head shot was an instant kill. This is great rifle if you are on a horse and you're just riding around open land looking for small game. It's quiet enough, so your horse doesn't startle.
@Small Caliber Arms Review great to hear. Sadly 22lr ammo has become the hardest caliber to buy now. Wish I could go out and shoot more often but I'm not burning through ammo unless I have to.
@@dethtour I can shoot whatever rounds I need to do a video and I'm happy for a while. I've also been buying a box or two every so often for years, I'm not "hoarding", and I won't buy the last box off of a shelf either. Thanks again for watching!

@@SmallCaliberArmsReview the funny thing is in my area the Rossi is about $300 and the plain jane Henry H001 lever .22 is $300-330. Not the golden boy version of course
I looked at both the gallery and lever-action Rossi rifles this evening (with wood stocks), bought the lever action version. I would have got the pump action, but that button to unlock the pump action was a deal breaker. Not sure if it needs to be pressed every time to chamber a round, but I have an older Rossi gallery rifle without that annoying feature.
It's supposed to only be needed for the first round but my particular rifle was having issues. I think you'll enjoy the lever action one. Thank you for watching!
No, the lever does not need to be pressed every time; only when a possible short stroke occurs say when it gets dirty or a bad round, misfire. Lube it up really good and keep it oiled especially after 30 rounds when new. The gun will break in and smooth out. When the gun gets sooty the short strokes happen.
I really enjoy lever guns. Saving money is good but when you get a brand new firearm and go through this, I'd rather spend the extra money for a solid functioning firearm. I have owned several Rossi/Taurus firearms and they were all very good but after seeing this video I now understand why some people don't think too highly of them.
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview I see that it wasn't a major problem but some people are easily discouraged. Nice video, looking forward to catching up on your channel. Well done.
The rifle is fine. Problem is that mag tube. If the tube spring can't push the bullets into the receiver with steady pressure, it will jam. Either ream out the end of the mag tube a bit to free up the bullets or Complain to Rossi , they will probably send you a new one. The polymer is ok but I prefer the classic look of the wood models. Just ordered on few days ago.

Put on a set of Tech-Sights iron sights. The front post will use the same screw hole, and the rear clamps onto the dovetail. It’s an aperture (peep) site. Much better!
I peeped the Smith and Wesson extreme ops spear head folder you got right there, I got one a while back and lock rock set in a year later, how's yours doing so far?
I have not tried it but others have said it will. The Henry rifles will, but the Rossi manual states "Make certain the ammunition you load in the chamber is the same caliber as is marked on the barrel." and it is marked 22LR
Eu estava apenas atirando a 15 jardas neste vídeo. Eu tive alguns problemas com as balas ficando presas no tubo no começo, mas eu gosto muito do rifle. Obrigado por assistir!
I'd like to pick up a Taurus Thunderbolt some day, they offer it in .38/.357 and .45 Colt. Not nearly as cheap as the Rossi, but there's just something about a pump rifle I like too! Thank you for watching!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview yeah in a perfect world you would want one of those but now with the prices it's hard to get a high cal pump that's isn't a shotgun
Nice video! That rifle looks cool af. Too bad that they made the sights out of plastic, that's a line that should not be crossed. In addition to this, other budget .22 rifles have metal sights as well. Are these kinds of malfunctions (7:54) common for .22 lever action rifles? Since my Browning BL22, which does not have the reputation of being cheap or poorly made, has these hickups from time to time too.
If you get the wood version of the Rio Bravo, it has wood sights and looks more "traditional". Seems as every firearm will have a malfunction at some point in its life.
I believe this gun is built in line with the ERMA action designed in Germany post-WW2. An excellent action.. Everyone is using it now. I believe it was even used by Winchester for their .22 lever action (now discontinued). So everyone is using the ERMA and the Marlin action these days. The patents are expired, I believe. Marlin is not getting enough credit for the simplicity of its action. Fans of Browning's '92 and '94 Winchester actions have become a niche. Fans the orirignal Winchester toggle-action have become an obscure niche.
Well, looks like you got a problem child... other reviews have been good for function. Thanks for the review! I see that Winchester just came out with a new .22 Lever - made in Turkey but it looks good -Ranger and about $350 street price.
I was 99% sure that I am gonna get a henry golden boy as my first gun. However, this gun is kinda force me not to spend too much of money on a .22 only because of my love for Lever action. I am confused. Please tell me what should I do 😇
Whoa, that's completely up to you. Henry makes very nice, top quality firearms, Rossi makes some decent lower priced firearms. They may both make lever actions but there is a pretty big difference in quality and price between the two. I would suggest finding a store that has both and compare them in person, you may end up buying both! Thanks for watching!
They're still out there but as far as new stuff goes, you pretty much limited to Henry nowadays. The Rio Bravo is available with wood furniture but, it's not a steel receiver. Thanks for watching!
Depends on the store, I just looked one up at a chain store in Ohio. They didn't have the Rio Bravo in stock, in both wood and poly, but the Gallery .22 was and they wanted 50 bucks more for wood. To be honest though, that particular store has some questionable pricing techniques! I often check multiple places before I purchase from them! (I did NOT buy my Rio Bravo from them) Thank you very much for watching!

Put on a set of Tech-Sights iron sights. The front post will use the same screw hole, and the rear clamps onto the dovetail. It’s an aperture (peep) site. Much better!
They probably look better than the gaudy plastic factory sights too.
I peeped the Smith and Wesson extreme ops spear head folder you got right there, I got one a while back and lock rock set in a year later, how's yours doing so far?
Umm, wait, you lost me!
Damn, this gun is awesome.
Once it's "broken in" it's a lot of fun for the money. Thanks for watching!
Would make a good Marlin Dark tribute, top rail for a red dot, expanded loop , paracord sling etc .
Could be! Mossberg mad a "Tactical" lever action a couple years ago, SPX, I believe. Thanks for watching!
Can it run shorts?
I have not tried it but others have said it will. The Henry rifles will, but the Rossi manual states "Make certain the ammunition you load in the chamber is the same caliber as is marked on the barrel." and it is marked 22LR
Laundry day ?!? Amazing vid keep up the good work
Yes! I might as well kill two birds with one stone. Thank you!
Qual foi a distancia dos disparos, e o que achou do rifle lever action aqui no Brasil a cbc vai fabrica esse ano.
Eu estava apenas atirando a 15 jardas neste vídeo. Eu tive alguns problemas com as balas ficando presas no tubo no começo, mas eu gosto muito do rifle. Obrigado por assistir!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview obrigado amigo.
@@geovanikuchnir1793 Você é muito bem-vindo
Are you able to mount a scope to it?
Yes, it has a 3/8" dove tail groove on top.
Have one of these, anyone know how to fix it not ejecting spent casings
Sounds like a bent or broken extractor.
Idk why your having so much trouble with it. I got my gold plated and put about 2k rounds through it and no problems at all. Smooth like butter.
Gold plated? I guess that could slick things up a bit.
That definitely could be the case. Now that you point that out.
He loads it differently than I do 😯
How's that?
I personally like the pump it's cheaper and you don't have to change the way your holding the rifle itll shoot faster
Again they make a German Beachwood version with similar stock to the gun. Never used it but, then I think my brother would like this gun.
I would have rather had it with wood furniture, but I was impatient! Thanks for watching!
That’s it I’m gettin one
By the way I like your western style.
Lol Thanks. Sometimes that's part of the fun! Thanks for watching!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview keep it going stay safe man.
@@FrankAngelOfficial1 will do! You too.
Interesting information, thanks!
Well, looks like you got a problem child... other reviews have been good for function. Thanks for the review! I see that Winchester just came out with a new .22 Lever - made in Turkey but it looks good -Ranger and about $350 street price.
The Rossi has actually started acting right, after running a bunch of rounds through it. I did a "Short" video rapid firing it with zero issues.
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview Great! I am sure it was the mag tube like you pointed out. Thanks again for the great vid!
Thank you for watching, I really appreciate it!
Thanks for the video. And you have a new sub.
Awesome! Thanks!
Mine runs great 22 lr and 22short
I think with a little "Breaking in", mine will too. Thanks for watching!
I've never had any of those problems with mine
Every now and then, things happen!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview yea
For anyone wondering, you can find these for as low as 329$ it’s a deal for sure!
Shop around, I've found them for less. Thanks for watching!
RK Guns has them in stock for $260. I've been shopping around but haven't seen them for less than that.
CBC makes pretty good firearms.
Yeah, I have a couple.
Bent case removal: Rule#9: Always carry a knife.
Never leave home without one!

I can't say that I'd blame ya'. Thanks for watching!
Too bad there isn't a good wood/steel lever 22 out there anymore. I'd like one like a Marlin 39.
They're still out there but as far as new stuff goes, you pretty much limited to Henry nowadays. The Rio Bravo is available with wood furniture but, it's not a steel receiver. Thanks for watching!
Nice hat ….
Thanks!
I’ll keep my Henry.
The Henry is just in a different class altogether. Thanks for watching!
Well, that's a nope for me until Rossi corrects feed problem.
Not all of them suffer the feed problem and just a little polishing of the inside of the tube with some scotch bright fixed the issue with mine.
0 problems in mine. You got a lemon.
It has been running like a top lately, I think the parts just needed a little "breaking in". Thanks for watching!
The plastic furniture is a let down.Wood couldn't increase the cost too much, right?
They do make it in wood and it's not a whole lot more money. Thanks for watching!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview the wood pump action seems quite interesting. My r92 is lot's of fun in .44mag
@@hughgrection9439 I have the R92 in .38/.357, fun without the cost! I should be doing a video on a Henry Big Boy in .44Mag soon!
The wooden version of that rifle is the same price
Depends on the store, I just looked one up at a chain store in Ohio. They didn't have the Rio Bravo in stock, in both wood and poly, but the Gallery .22 was and they wanted 50 bucks more for wood. To be honest though, that particular store has some questionable pricing techniques! I often check multiple places before I purchase from them! (I did NOT buy my Rio Bravo from them) Thank you very much for watching!
So much for buying a Rossi........It ain’t perfect but I’ll stay with my cheap o H2 Henry
The only issue I had with it was the rounds getting hung up in the magazine tube, a little scotch bright and some frog lube and it's good as new!
Send it back for repair.
It just needed a little "breaking in". Thanks for watching!
22 kaliber gun kupowali w usa dzieciom do polowan na wiewiorki.
Do polowan ja uzywam kaliber 45. 22 to zblizony do KBKS. Dziadek Kanada
