Thank you for taking the time and explaining step by step how to clean the Rossi lever action I certainly appreciate it I didn't know how to do it and I also search the internet and TH-cam and if it wasn't for your video it would have been more difficult thanks bro
Thanks for this video. I just bought one like this. Should have it soon. Need to do initial cleaning. This really helps. Caution, I own a Henry Model H001 lever action. 4 weeks ago I was pulling a bore snake through it an it broke leaving most of it in the barrel. No way of getting it out. Henry Customer Service fixed back at their facility for free. I see you soaked part of your bore snake with cleaner. I believe in the long run, that cleaner eventually weakens the fabric. Bottom-line, replace bore snake frequently if you put cleaner on it.
I just received my Rio Bravo today. Dissembled, cleaned and reassembled easily with this video. I will shoot it tomorrow at an indoor range. I will mount a Burris scope on it tomorrow before I go to the range. Another video here shows shooting CCI shorts in it. Tried shooting those same shorts in my Henry. Did not load well so it appears this Rossi will shoot them.
I haven't cleaned mine yet because I have only shot maybe a hundred rounds through it. I put a Leupold 3-9x40 scope it this morning. I had it just sitting in the safe so I figured I might as well put it on something. I noticed, with factory Winchester white box ammo, the rifle is decently accurate. I sighted it in at 50 yards and it would hold a dime size group if I did my part. Good enough for crows and opossum that love to steal my eggs.
Awesome choice for a first pew, I hope your daughter loves it! The red dot requires some extra work and isn't quite "drop proof" so she might be better off sticking with the iron sights. Thanks for watching ✌️
Exactly, took a dremel to the underside of a small rail section and rounded it. You could probably use a round file too. Then screwed it into the rear sight screw holes
Had a great day. Shot 90 rounds of CCI standard. Accuracy at 25 yards is good for breakin. Lever action and trigger assembly are loosening up. All normally tight for a new rifle.
Hi Mate, would you know exact what pic rail you got for the red dot? i took mine to the Gun shop and they advised that the rail with red dot wont work as it will be too high.....
Hi. Really not that often. The nice thing about manually operated firearms is that they don't need to be clean to function properly and most of the carbon/dirt is forced down the barrel since the action is locked. So I'd recommend running a bore snake down the barrel every 300-500 rounds and you could probably go thousands of rounds before needing to disassemble anything unless there's a major issue. Thanks for watching ✌️
@msavage...we have owned this rifle for 3 years...all we do is run a boresnake after every range visit (no such thing as clean .22, and after 100+ rounds the gun starts 'feeling' dirty, although it is happy to continue running)...and we wipe around the bolt as best we can reach, run a patch in/out the feed tube, call it a day...we shoot the cheapest, nastiest bulk ammo we can find, and tolerate the occasional dud rounds...to take the cover off/on as shown in video is not that hard to do if you want to get a little deeper into your rifle, but the lever and trigger mechanisms so simple it might take a literal pound of dirt to really affect the operation...we had a cheap scope mounted, but need to replace it...we like the gun...
Good video...we have stopped taking the cover off (kinda pointless unless a genuine pound of real crude inside), and concentrate on cleaning the bore, wiping the bolt as best we can reach, run a patch in/out the feed tube, apply very, very little oil, and call it a day...we do need to put a new scope on the gun (old cheapo kaput), and we really like the gun...we shoot 99+% the cheapest, nastiest bulk ammo (for cost the occasional dud round very tolerable), and will note the gun might be a smidgen more accurate than our Henry's, the Henry's might be a bit smoother through the lever...
One of the nice things about these lever actions is that you don't really need to clean them that much, as long as you keep the barrel and chamber clear. I pretty much exclusively shoot Remington Thunderbolt through it since I have boatloads of it and very rarely have an issue. Thanks for watching ✌️
I believe it does just because the 2 different sections have different distances between the holes. So one of them should line up good enough if not perfectly. It's been a while so I forgot which one exactly. If you have a Ruger 10/22 you can see if one of the sets of rail mount screw holes on top of the receiver line up with the Rio Brovo's rear sight screw holes.
I made that rail mount with a little dremeling. But I'm pretty sure this works too monstrumtactical.com/ruger-10-22-modular-picatinny-rail-mounting-set-includes-front-and-rear-section/
Pretty much. Either use a dovetail mount for the top of the receiver or if you mount a rail section to the barrel like I did just make sure it's big enough for the optic you want to use
I have another video on this channel that goes into further detail but basically I just fitted a small rail in place of the rear sight. Thanks for watching ✌️
@thndr_5468 the adapter on their site is probably for the dovetail section on top of the receiver. And yes that's very easy to install, just make sure it's screwed on tight so it doesn't slide around on the dovetail. I however used a small rail section in front of the receiver where the rear sight was because it puts the sight lower and closer to the bore of the barrel. Both methods aren't too difficult
Those tippmans are really nice since they're metal as opposed to plastic like the m&p 15-22. That being said I have 2 15-22s and love them. Thanks for watching ✌️
That's probably a better idea than what I do. Usually I end up throwing out the last 20% or so after it gets too dirty. But at least a bottle of the bore cleaner lasts a long time. And I used to use CLP for the barrel but that'll leave behind oil that will attract dirt and grime so I switched to the bore cleaner, just for cleaning out the barrel.
andddd I never said I was going to disassemble a part. This is a field strip video just like 99.9% of videos on YT that say disassembly. Thanks for watching ✌️
I assume you mean dry fire, not fry fire. But it's ok to do so on certain rimfire 22s. For example the Ruger 10/22 doesn't have a last round hold open which means 90% of the time you fire the last round you'll probably pull the trigger again and inadvertently dry fire the gun. Same can be said for lever actions. Just don't dry fire too much. I do appreciate the comment though and thank you for watching ✌️
@@AmattEUR yes, guess I need to eat a little crow after putting a typo in my comment. And you make a really good point about all the inadvertent dry fires. I'm probably just being a little OCD.
Don't worry, we all have typos at some point. Yours just made me hungry for fried food for some reason. Also nothing wrong with being ODC about your firearms. I use to obsessively clean every little bit of dirt and corbon off mine, so I can relate 👍
Thank you. Very helpful and a good refresher if you're not taking the rifle apart frequently. Good overview.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching ✌️

Hey, no problem! That's why I made the video because I didn't see anything online or even in the manual on how to clean it
Thank you so much! This is my first rifle, and I could not find anything about it online on how to disassemble.
Great choice for your first rifle! I hope you enjoy it ✌️

Thanks for the heads-up on the bore snake. I do replace them frequently, especially the 22 cal because it's used more often.

I love this rifle. Accurate as hell. Had 100 rounds in it, remarkably not that dirty.
Because it's a closed action, most of the fouling goes down the barrel. So pretty easy to clean and keep clean 👍

Darn those egg thiefs. Yeah it's an accurate little rifle for the price and lots of fun with the lever action. Probably great with a 3-9 scope 👍
You should clean it before you use it to get that factory gunk out of it
Just got the rio bravo as my daughters first pew. I was gonna put a 3 × 40 on it, but really like your red dot set up.🤔

Do you have a mlock to Picatinny for the red dot? Thats only way i could get mine to fit.
The red dot is on a picatinny rail section screwed into the rear sight holes. Thanks for watching ✌️

What kind of scope is that, I just bought this rifle and was wanting to get a scope
It's a red dot. I attached it to where the rear sight is so if you're not very experienced you can get a dovetail mount for on top of the receiver
Hello, on this Rio Bravo, can we adapt a bipod?
Yes you can. The bottom has mlok slots that you can either attach a rail or directly attach an mlok bipod to
@@AmattEUR Thanks a lot

How did you get that red dot on there?
I retrofitted a small rail section on where the rear sight was using the original screws
