"Se psilo vouno" is a "rizitiko" song from Crete, depicting the eagle's invocation to the sun - a theme with multiple allegorical interpretations. The "rizitika", also known simply as "songs" in the past, are vocal pieces with narrative content. They are performed by a solo voice or a group of voices, typically without instrumental accompaniment. The term "rizitika" likely originates from the word "roots", referring to the foothills of Crete's mountains, especially the White Mountains ( Lefka Ori ), which are the primary birthplace and source of inspiration for these songs. In this performance, we created an arrangement centered around string instruments, violin and viola.
