usb 3.0 and 2.0 have nothing to do with it, i know multiple people with a yeti and its just a thing that either is there or is not there, a lot of yeti's have it no matter what usb port you plug them in to, and some dont have it, my best guess as to why a lot have it and some dont have it is due to bad QC standards on the more budget series of mic's, its a shame but that is the only thing i can think of.
a reason for me to stay away from blue all together, because if you contact them about it they will tell you that it is because of your usb port, or you droped it or you broke it. in other words you are not taken seriously by blue if you contact them about the whine noise

This is really well done and thorough. I am starting a content program to build credibility as a financial advisor, so audio quality directly translates to perceived professionalism and expertise. What really made the difference for me was the proximity effect comparison. The bassiness of the Snowball would make me sound overbearing, and I don't want that. Also, I like being able to monitor the Yeti and change the recording pattern... in case I do interviews and need the figure eight pattern. Thank you!

Holy crap the snowball is like talking through a PVC pipe and the yeti has this high-pitched wail in the background. Weirdly enough, I don't normally hear that in the yeti, wondering if you have a lemon of sorts. Snowball has a slight one, but not as noticeable.
Thank you for the cheap comparisons though, I appreciate the no bs comparisons. Makes it easier to recommend low-budget mics to friends!

Thank you for all the great work that you do. I have both and have sold them in favor of Zoom H2s as the best USB mic out there and is most versatile. Have you used one?
Also, something you said here reminded me of a request I have for you. Will you please talk about mic techniques and what I can do learn more, Will you please direct me to where I can find more information on the subject or perhaps you may consider creating a course?
    Thank you in advance.

it's a good beginner mic, but it's very sensitive, picks up every sound, and aren't durable

I may not have a Blue mic, however I do have another cardioid mic and record quite a bit. So, all you have to do if you're not doing actual broadcasting, but recording instead, you'd have to go into your sound editing software, select a portion of the track (I use audacity, and it's worked out well so far) that has no voice, then go to the Noise Reduction setting and click "Get Profile". Then, highlight the whole track, turn the top slider in the noise reducer up or down, preview it before you do anything. If you don't hear any noise, click okay and you're done. Be careful, though. You don't want to end up reducing so much that you end up affecting the voice.

I have the Snowball Ice (my first mic actually) and it sounds about the same as the regular Snowball. Has an even worse stand though. Its only when you start using "proper" microphones that you realise that these just aren't in the same league. Not bad for starting out though.

Abdel_florent 6 I’ve had it for 1 month and love it! I mainly use it for discord while hanging & gaming with friends. But also for MANY zoom calls. Friends and colleagues always ask (during both gaming & meetings) what mic I’m using because of the quality. Also, I’m a dumbass and figured out how to use it, so it’s idiot proof too. No problems at all, I’ve found that having roughly 6inches away from your mouth gives the best audio.

I’ve just started watching your channel, really enjoying what I’ve seen so far. I bought the Yet the other day as I wanted to started doing some voice work and wanted something very affordable to see if I have the chops for it. As you say, you can audition with the Yeti, it sounds OK for what it is. If I get a job ill borrow my friends NT1 and preamp. Thanks for the channel. Love it.

The Best Tip for Beginners starts at the end 12:00 I don't want anyone to miss that! Definitely worth listening to the whole video just to get a good idea of sound quality, features, etc as you can find many similar elsewhere. I'm an indecisive tech junkie on a budget, I really needed to hear that, I knew where to start and had a few in mind including the snowball. Thanks for the video :) I prefer the sound of the snowball, not sure why, I personally find it sound better, this video is helped me decide between any blue line and a non blue line, although I love the sound of blue I will save that for the future as the options available in the ------ are much better for the price.

Love these videos. Side note: My first mic was a Snowball. It was such a thin, dry, tinny, pant-load, I didn't even bother to try to sell it. I got much more satisfaction by throwing it in the bin. In retrospect, I wish I'd had someone give me a nice softball pitch so that I could have heard it crack against a nice wooden bat.
