Also pretty sure there's some strong True Detective S01 references. There are a few minor points for improvement, but all in all I had a great time with this.

This looks great! I’ve seen other reviews giving it low ratings, but this is a much more comprehensive review by someone who is a fan of that old school survival horror I love!
I wish publishers would be more discerning with who they give review codes to. Not that I want them fishing for positive reviews but YT has no shortage of lazy reviewers looking for clicks and codes. You'd think putting together 20 minutes of well explained thoughts towards the game would be an easy ask. 🤷
@@jankmedia1985 I suspect that reviewers are being more pissy lately because of everything going on in games journalism right now. That and I think Games News sites tend to dislike AA games as they are more direct competition to the AAA companies that fund them.

I love how they didn't go for "gOoD gRaPhIcS mAkE gAmE mOrE mOnEh No MiNd BaD oPtImIzAtIoN". It does have good graphics still, don't get me wrong, but they obviously focused more on gameplay and especially bringing the original to life again. I saw some Steam Deck gameplay on Epic settings getting around 80fps. For a 2024 TPS game, that's a big W.
The comparison to Alan Wake 2 from the woke press , should have been a massive hint about what this is game about... In Alan Wake game Thomas Zane was trapped in a Gene Realm when he wrote Alan Wake to combat the Gene , since the game was based on the Stephen King novel Duma Key... in Alone in The Dark from 2024 the game is 1:1... the main Character of this game is NOT Edward, or Emily, but a Black 47 Year old Female Writer Cassandra Beauregard... no this game is not woke, trust me you see the twist... SHE is the Narrator that READS YOUR OBJECTIVE NOTES!!!!! She suffered a writers Block from taking to much Morphine and wanted to take her life by jumping off a balcony ... only managed to damage her back , now forced to be a cripple and be on a wheelchair... She was placed in this asylum by her Hollywood Studio to be in a quiet place to write a Script to a WESTERN called "Slaughter Gultch" aka ALONE IN THE DARK 3!!!! But her mind wandered and she wrote You and Emily to Existence ... Each Campaigning of this game is connected in a way , you gather objects that Unlock Memories and Knowledge that change the game and events in the game ... to make her WAKE UP
NOT GETTING THIS STORY ,shows you did not followed the game ... nor , got the needed objects to unlock it ... this is the MAIN story ... not the Gigantic Tree Boss...
Just beat it twice with each character. As a heads up there is a major section 3/4 through the game where depending on the character you choose you get a different section understanding their background. As well, I haven’t gotten all of the collectible artifacts yet, but I love the grace secret storyline ending as it’s just a huge Alone in the Dark 2 reference…. Here’s hoping we get a sequel!
If this sells and they keep going, _and_ if they decide to remake each title in the series... We do run into the possibility of David Harbour turning into a playable mountain lion in the third game. And that be hilarious to see with current game tech. ... Everyone buy this game.
I actually like having the same outcome but different ways to reach it. Makes replaying fun and different. And from a storytelling perspective, it shows that they're different and I like that
Games looks fun and something I would enjoy. Something to get after some of the bugs have been patched on maybe gone on sale. I do agree that making the characters feel a bit sluggish does have a nice affect in upping the pressure in survival horror games.

I was hyped to play this back in October when it was supposed to be released around Halloween, I had my money in my hand ready to hand it over. Then they had to go and delay it twice and now my enthusiasm has waned a bit, I'll probably still play it but only once it goes on sale for cheap
When people claim Resident evil was the first 3D horror with a female character, it makes me giggle.
I love the gumshoe atmosphere. it's making this a lot more interesting to me. may check this one out
9:01 "You can't just keep getting away with this!!!!" be like
Couple of reviews I read scored it really low, I got worried but I trust your opinion more G Man. Looking forward to it tomorrow
If Liam Nelson Dark Man was haunting me that would be freaking terrifying.😭
They should make a game about that movie, cause it's true classic!
@@cor.tenebrarum only seen clips of the movie sadly I never even heard of it until Angry Video Game Nerd covered a bad Dark Man game. Definitely need to watch it. I'll probably have to look it up on a free movie site
@@cor.tenebrarum They did... for the NES it had... interesting ideas...
@@khululyp None of which were executed well.
@@KuroNoTenno true but it tried to be more true to the movie than lot of licensed games.
4:00 - oh man that's hilarious. So glad they included those.
This looks kinda interesting I'll try it
I kind of like when some games still have jank. It reminds me of where we came from, and that it's a game.
18:18 The human brain isn't pink. You've been looking at cartoons too much.
Calm down bro
@@Gggmanlives no, you calm down and then go and do some proper research
@@xKamiiii I hope this is sarcasm.

As a huge fan of Lovecraftian horror; I really enjoyed the hell out of this title. It's such a huge loveletter to the original game, and the Lovecraft mythos. Also pretty sure there's some strong True Detective S01 references. There are a few minor points for improvement, but all in all I had a great time with this.
Loving these new thumbnails
There's something about the character's movements that makes me feel like I'm watching an unmodified Unreal Engine Mannequin at play.
Gman once again showing true tastes for horror, seriously, the only horror games the Gaming media ever liked where Resident Evil and 3 Silent Hill game
Alan wake, tormented souls, dino crisis, dead space, among many other are also good
Finally a fair review that actually criticizes it based on the game alone and weather it works and not weather or it is on the same scale as resident evil
It will be 50% off in a week
*cracked
Which is a good thing for gamers
Every time I watch a new Gman upload, the first ad I get is for Outback Steakhouse lol
That melee is rough.
Reviews online are not full of praise, best thing is wait for %50 discount...and trust me, will be soon.
Bugs are the only things that concern me. Everything else is what I want in survival horror. Great video, really appreciate how in-depth you went. I got the deluxe edition preordered on PS5. Looking forward to playing it this weekend.
Kinda reminds me of The Evil Within, with the way it looks and plays. Can't wait to play it!
@@hfricyou ok bro
@@squirrel_disasterI feel like I had a stroke reading this
Just beat it twice with each character.
Man, I really I'm getting old. There's a non stop flood of games I played when I was a child. System Shock, FF7, now this...
man the gameplay is garbage in this one
Horror survival games teach two things: use bolt cutters in-game and avoid letters from loved ones
Critical drinker's brother.
Please don’t compare G-man to that grifter.
Critical Drinker couldn't even come close to this caliber of content creation. Shit tier Scot getting triggered while not making a single point.
Don’t say critical drinker I’m gonna get angry he makes me so mad 😡 DONT
😂 enjoy Gman's content but it's got nothing on Critical Drinker. 🔥🔥🔥
Critical Asshole can't stand that prick
If this sells and they keep going, _and_ if they decide to remake each title in the series... We do run into the possibility of David Harbour turning into a playable mountain lion in the third game. And that be hilarious to see with current game tech.
...
Everyone buy this game.
Disagree.
The remake is painfully boring and far from enjoyable.
Your editing is great dude!
so many people are writing this off because "the visuals look like a ps2 game" or "this looks janky as fuck" Not every game is gonna be AAAAAAAA.
Sorry but the game sucks.
It does lol
I actually like having the same outcome but different ways to reach it. Makes replaying fun and different. And from a storytelling perspective, it shows that they're different and I like that
Impressive how Gman will use that stock fart sound in different and new ways
It reminds me a bit of The Evil Within games. I love those games in their weird flawed ways, so this might be worth a buy
Games looks fun and something I would enjoy. Something to get after some of the bugs have been patched on maybe gone on sale. I do agree that making the characters feel a bit sluggish does have a nice affect in upping the pressure in survival horror games.
It's amazing how different the game's scores are)
From 1 to amazing
Ah, now it makes sense. I thought you were talking about the 2008 Alone in the Dark.
Hello my name is Matthew, and I just discovered this TH-cam channel at 2:17PM Sunday afternoon Auckland, New Zealand time and in my opinion this was a great gaming review of an amazing Remake of the original Alone in the Dark game which i actually never played.
Lol I love the golden age Simpsons clips you throw in your reviews! Can you please do a video on the Clock Tower games? I feel like not many people know about them, but you might?
if you wanna know more about clock tower just watch nitro rad
Loved the Anton Chigur cameo! Just watched No Country for Old Men last night for the third time. Also, YOU CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THESE MOM JOKES!
I legit really like 2008 alone in the dark. Currently trying to get the plat on it playing it here and there
The good old times playing Alone in the Dark with the fixed camera,
it looked so good back in the days if you see it now, it's all pixels ;)
Happy to see its mainly positive news. Imma pick it up during the spooky season and hopefully all the bugs are smoothed out.
Fan of the OG here. Glad this one's good!
Price is steep considering the playtime, but the first AITD was pretty short if you knew what you were doing.
Wow this takes me back to being 12-13 years old. I remember playing the OG DOS game and remember how hard it was.
The likeness of the sheriff from stranger things makes me happy and so many different ways..
That fart drop at the 9 minute mark sent my maturity level back in time to circa 1997 and I really appreciate that nostalgia of thinking fart jokes are the golden standard of comedy.
I sat during the scene right before the ending with my mouth wide open, thinking, “the last few hours were worth it for this alone”
I like the Selaco mug. It's in the bit at the end about the laptop for anybody wondering what I'm talking about.
This game kind of looks like The Sinking City, both horror with investigative aspects, the setting and the combat (clunky moves, melee and ranged weapons) is comparable, even hats at times don't cast shadows on foreheads on both games. I liked The Sinking City so I'll buy this too.
Alright let’s play alone in the dark with a group in the daylight!
