At first I was like, “Come on let Jade come out again” and then I was scrolling through the playlists and saw Desolation because of the big anime sprite. Spent 2 days binge watching the episodes and I loved the story with the twins and the gym leaders. Very sad about the twins outcome, I really liked Shiv but it’s good. Can’t wait for more Desolation beta to be released
It made my year when Pokemon Desolation got an update. It has claimed the spot as my all time favorite. Sadly I lost my saves when my laptop stopped working earlier this year.
Desolation was truly great, after finishing it I decided to replay rejuvenation and reborn and as such all three have become my favourites. I remember when desolation was in its much earlier versions I thought of it as a cheap knock off but it surpassed all my expectations and is practically equal to the other two in story telling and enjoyment, in some ways, it is even better!
I hope these 3 games become the standard for fan games in the future. I really appreciate the effort that's gone into the storytelling and making the game more challenging and strategic. Nintendo hasn't done anything like that since gen 5.
Just finished Reborn (until episode 19 comes out); ready to dive into a new one. I like the idea of Desolation, and the idea of “reputation points” - kind of reminds me of “The Good Place” in that regard. Great video 😊

If you have the time I hope you check this game out. Pokemon Ashen Frost. You play as a private investigator, collect clues, present evidence and eventually get dragged into a power struggle between crime families represented by Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres. The writing reminds me a lot of the Ace Attorney series and Yakuza to a lesser extend especially where the story and dialogue is concerned. Lighthearted comedy occasionally interrupted by silly side quests, conspiracy and the occasional murder. There is quite a lot of content available too. I've been playing for 40+ hours now making sure to see all the side stuff and I'm still haven't reached the end. You also encounter most catchable pokemon by running into them via the overworld or finishing sidequests. This is a game I came across largely by accident and I think its almost a crime just how little discussion there is surrounding it or at least on youtube.
Voltsy, this doesn't have to do with the list. But since this is just talking about Fangames in general. It seems that Pokemon Reborn and Rejuvenation are getting their next update likely by spring of 2021. you excited?
@@HeroVoltsy Well, I believe in you! you can do it! and excited to see replays of battles. besides since Amethyst has practically said it's unlikely there to be Gen 8 in Reborn. I think most event Pokémon will remain where they are, where most fans will try to point them out to you! PS I'm sure if you asked fans for EV-IV trained Pokémon they'd help. But also note in the last update of Pokémon Rejuvenation there is a EV training gym if you want a simple solution.
Some really interesting ideas the mainline Pokemon games came up with to increase difficulty. They used the available data from past games. Assuming the player would level up one Pokemon until leveling started to take longer per level to level up. In Pokemon White 2 the experience gain starts to slow down around level 13 due to the Pokemon available to grind on. The game does not allow the player to run ahead to grind on higher level Pokemon then come back to challenge the gym leader. The narrative focus and balancing work together to create a great gaming experience. Remember the old adage when balancing. If 1% of the options are overpowered, then 100% of the options are over-powered. Because the player will always choose the 1%. Some communities of certain Rom Hacks have created rules for different games. Where over-powered Pokemon are not allowed for a Nuzlocke to be legit. Though, these are cases where individuals can choose to ignore those rules.
If u would have waited till 18th December, u could have add in 1st position Pokémon xenoverse. An Italian Pokémon fan game which deserves a lot. You'll see when it will be out in 2 weeks.

Nice list Voltsy, i got stuck on 7th GYM in Empyrean and if i have one critique about the game is it's quite hard to train as Wild Pokemon are like 15-20 Levels below you so XP gain is minimal.
Got some ideas for a fan game. Pokemon Casie (based on that girl who loves baseball): you play Casie (or a male counterpart) as you use your pokemon trainer abilities to help the Electobuzz get on a winning streak. You compeat in a pokemon fan laugie (where the victor gives luck to their baseball team), compeat in gym battles where they give you tickets to the next baceball game, as well as fight a baseball themed dark order. There is also baseball dueling (that two players take turns pitching and batting). And if you're baseball team is good enough they will be challenged by a legendary pokemon who somehow assembled a baseball team of it's own.
I still remember in Pokémon Emperian you named a variation of Teddiursa/Ursaring "Goku Black". I mean, that scythe, and It's color. Also you named a bird Pokemon (I don't remember the name) "Dio" when you teach the move The World. There were good times!
While I prefer having the hm system, I think there’s a better way to implement it. Have only 5 HMs that can function strictly as overworld abilities. Cut would replace having to pay for resharpening a hatchet. Fly would allow you to fast travel from anywhere for free; instead of buying train tickets. Surf let’s you travel on water, without having to pay for ferry rides. Flash makes you not have to buy tons flashlight batteries. Finally, rock climb would make purchasing grappling hooks unnecessary.
I really enjoy the way Pokemon unbound’s HM system works. When you acquire the HM you get to put it in our bag, your Pokémon doesn’t have to learn the HM but can use the HM in the over world. The only requirement is that the Pokémon has to be able to learn the move that corresponds to the HM.
I wouldn’t want to iv train because it’s more fun to use the first one of a Pokémon line that I caught and making my team based on the ones I decided to train during that play through because it’s a Pokémon I haven’t played with yet and or like the look of and figure out what each one is best at
One evolving idea I have had regarding Pokemon Rom Hacks. A Pokemon game which is centered around protecting certain towns in your area. A bad way to implement this would be a system which has several towns periodically being attacked with no real consequences to failure to protect them. Another way to ruin this idea is if the battles were too easy making the conflict for the player less significant. A good way to use this idea would be a story line which focuses on protecting one or a few towns at a time. Maybe have story elements with the champions of the area defending a keep. With the final battle being a long drawn out battle where you have to battle an army of trainers to save the kingdom. This type of game could take some inspiration from FF4 which had a segment of the game where you had to defend a keep. This would be the perfect game to take inspiration from. Only, improve on what could have been done better. The story forced an eventual loss on you. Instead of forcing a loss have the player defend the town from invaders. The story elements of FF4 were great so this is another area you could draw inspiration from. I always wanted the castle battle in that game to have an optional path where you have to beat a bunch of opponents. Just make sure that segment is made for competitive players and does not hold back to cater to more casual players
Same i hated S/S waste of $60 honestly gigantamax was a huge turnoff because they took away megas which i loved and you can only use it at specific times mega evolution you can do whenever not to mention they got too lazy with the pokemon the designs suck which was my biggist issue then i found fanmade games like a week ago and have been hooked lol
