  • Tony Hoang shares his story of going from a heroin dealer and drug addict to a preacher and minister for Potters house.
Tony grew up in Cabramatta around drugs and gangs. First incarcerated at 13 and buying his first handgun at 14, he then went on to dealing heroin.
After a heroin overdose and near death experience at 21, he decided things needed to change and found God, he has never looked back since.

I hear ya, every time I think back to the 90s, the first thing I think of is Heroin... I lost a lot of good friends to heroin. I sometimes wonder how I made it out alive. I thank the Lord everyday, and also for my two beautiful children. I think the reason I made it out was because the Lord planted a seed in me when I was a teenager, the exact thing happen to me that Tony Hoang said. Some random dude on the street asked if I would say a prayer with him, I walked away buzzing with goosebumps, that was the day the Lord planted the seed and it grew then flourished as the years went on. I still struggled with drugs for years but that seed grew stronger and stronger until the day came when I accepted Jesus into my life. Great things happened after that. Praise Jesus. If you knock he will always answer.

I was in Cabra in your days. I had a baby with anh binh tran, sisters Cindy Oanh, and Kim. My name is Sam. Aussie Sam.😁 I was the 3rd (I think) Aussie girlfriend) of 1992 accepted in our area
I was so happy to see this pod cast of you. Truely made my heart melt. Not sure if you remember me, but I so remember you. Cabramatta made me who I am, coming from a broken home, brought into such a loyal, loving, accepting life. You all showed me and taught me how to be a loyal, better person. Never wanted to think about What my life would have or could have been without all you beautiful souls in cabra! RIP Binh Van Tran, deported 2000. My love♥️

I’m absolutely devastated to know my son is gone for years from me, in fact it’s almost destroyed my ability to move forth in life, working.
I remember the Cabramatta days, I was a nursing student from Campbelltown and trained it through there, I was young but aware of possible danger
I never could have imagined my son would be considered dangerous, there is no one to talk to, it truly is suffering for family, not to mention my beloved son

I lived in Bonnyrigg next suburb to cabra and spent a lot of time there and let me tell you the place was crazy you had dealers from 12yo up everywhere selling. As soon as you got off the train you had people coming up to you straight away from everywhere just giving you a nod of the head snd you knew what that meant. And in every street every set of flats had at least 1 unit set up as a drug house it was just everywhere and cheap as. Back then a quarter of a gram would cost you on the street $70 or $50 if you knew a dealer not from the street these days a that quarter gram costs you $150 but today Cabra is so different its still there but you have to go looking for it these days.

Hi from Wellington Kiwiville. A lot of my mates went to Sydney to live in the late 70's right through to the 2000's. I heard all about Cabra back then, "Ya wanna get on?!" was like the local national anthem by all accounts. I stayed away from Ozzie cos I knew I would have died there, OD or whacked for skull-duggery. A good mate who went to Sydney in 82 and is still there is a great snooker player, I'm talking a REAL good player, he had over 50 Century breaks when he was 17 years old. Ive lost contact with him, Dennis Paul is his name if anyone knows him over there and can point me in his direction, or alerts him to this post, so he can contact me, would be grouse, there's a ton of mail to catch up on and we are old now so time is of the utmost essence. We are now olde enough to be on the pension, December for me so id like to catch up with him obv. Years ago I heard he was doing the Small table circuit, apparently its big potatoes in Oz, League clubs and RSA's etc have a good thing happening in the small table pool scene. Dennis is a champion on either small or big tables. Good to see you two have got your life back where it belongs, in your own hands, and skills to the pair of you, its not easy doing a complete reversal of your life, for various reasons. One things for sure though, and many gangsters the world over can attest to this, If you ask The Lord for help, and you wish to turn it around, HE hears you, and here we have the both of you, living proof. Even Stan Smith found The Lord years before he died, and Stanley was a BAD MAN, he had a Black Belt in violence but appeal to The Lord he did, and natch, HE answered, so anybody reading this post who is a bad ass and is toying with getting a life, Just Do It, bad ass or not, you are NOT naughtier than Stanley Smith, so the door is open, as soon as you get released from your lagging. Good Luck to you. Enjoying your Channel cuzz. Subbed with Noties ages ago, so I'm a starter.

I'd reckon Tony has those mug shits of himself up behind him ( when doing his talks ) up there for him to remind him in those moments of what it was for extra encouragement during his presentation...
...And what the crowd gets is just extra visual taste for the story

@@bugman5466 true, I had heard of that name and era, was fairly young when this was going on. I was born in Brisbane, I would associate with many people - but got along well with folks in Brisbane that had direct affiliation with 5T, was there also another strong crew called Blue Dragon?? That came after 5T dissolved and became less active ?? (I remember hearing about something like that) - some pretty “full on” memories which most people will never face in their lifetime - just blessed and thankful to still be here on this earth - much respect due to all the people that walk with honour and honesty.
