    It's nice for Violet to see her heritage and the culture from where her Mom came from. What a respectful way for Cash to honor his wife this way, too. They both seemed to enjoy the city life, but it's also nice to go back and visit family

      @@patricialamere2679 Maybe they're testing out the idea of a move? Or maybe this is just a vacation. Cash likes playing with clickbait (sarcastically/ironically?) so who knows. I'm just along for the ride as I always find his adventures interesting and fun. Anyway, there wasn't any lead-up and they left their apartment as it was with all their stuff. So I am guessing that if this were to become a real move, at some point Cash would go home and pack up anything they want to ship to Japan, sublet their apartment--that sort of thing. We'll see!

      @Another youtube account This crap never ends maybe they’ll move in the future but this is very clearly a vacation. Nobody leaves a furnished apartment in NYC and moves to Japan with just two suitcases. Cash likes the click bait which is fine I don’t care. But his trying to maintain an aura of mystery around their Japan vacation is soooo corny 😂

    My son moved his family to Japan . He is in the Navy. There were there 3 years and they LOVED it. We are from Seattle and they just transferred back to Washington and they were so sad to leave Japan. They told me about taking the trains etc., and now I’m seeing all the things they told me about. Love your NY videos also. I’m an RN and I don’t see how I could ever live in NYC. Too expensive but would love to try for a year, but I’m old and that ship has sailed. I do have a friend there though that I visited who also lives in Parkslope. Enjoy all your videos!

      Don't mind me asking.
      1) Do you consider Japan as a highly developed and advanced country ?
      2) How would you personally rate Japan (from culture to technology, architecture, food, local products, scenery/landscape, standard of living/quality of life, etc.) on a scale level of 1 to 10 ?
      3) How would you overall describe the characteristics of Japanese people ?
      4) If you have 3 or more words to describe Japan, what would it be ?

  • @DannyJane.
    @DannyJane. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying this. We went to Japan in 2019 and rented an apartment in Gion for two weeks. We did do some tourist-y things, but our best time was when we stepped out the door, pointed our feet in any direction and went to look for an adventure. We had many. I love Kyoto and the environs. Everyone is kind and forgiving of Westerners who try their best to conform to Japanese norms. The concept of "cultural appropriation" is unknown. Anything you do to learn about and absorb the culture is met with absolute delight. We even rented kimono for a day and found ourselves surrounded by kimono-clad Japanese who were delighted to talk to us, take pictures, swap jokes (which is funny in itself with few words in common). My red-headed, 6'2" husband kind of stood out and we met with approval that we didn't mind the humor he generated. You're bringing back so many happy memories and I AS MUCH want to go back again.

When the pigeons had had enough and flew off, he went over and picked up each individual piece of rice they hadn't eaten and put them in a bin.

      @@wombat5252 Why do you assume that Japanese people don't have freedom???
      I just find this aspect of the American people really fascinating. We're all told from a young age that we are the ONLY people on planet earth who have freedom and everyone else DOES NOT, but that is 100% false. I'm not saying I don't love my country, but come on....how are Americans so ignorant in this regard?
      There are many aspects of other countries that have great (dare I say better) qualities to them than the US. Again,...not saying I don't love and appreciate my country, I just look at places like Japan and see some fantastic qualities. Having a great transit system that is not only competent, but really effective for people in the city and suburbs. I see how moral people are in their own society and how if you leave a 100 dollar bill on a bench, it will likely 1. still be there or 2. turned into the local police. I see how clean everything is and I am impressed. I see how well crafted everything is including food. The best ice cream I've ever had was a plain vanilla soft serve ice cream cone in Japan.
      I'm not going to move to japan personally, but to say that people don't have freedom is bizarre and inaccurate. Japan is a great example of a "non western" country that has created a competent, well run, and successful society.

      It's really hard to move to a country when you don't speak the language. All of a sudden, you feel like a toddler again.

    This is how movies began in the 80's ,you would run afoul of the Yakuza video piracy crew, learn Martial Arts and the free the town (after some resistance) from the gangs . The gangs would lure you to a boss battle in the middle of the Shibuya district .....I just watched Top Gun so I'm feeling 80's nostalgia.

    I spent a year in Korea when I was in the Air Force and I remember how frustrating it was to try to listen to people speak the language. I noticed just after a few months I started picking up on words here and there and by the time I left I certainly couldn’t speak fluently but I could definitely understand parts of conversations around me. I’m sure once you’ve been there a while you’ll start picking the language up little by little.

    • @j134679
      @j134679 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, both Korean & Japanese are relatively easy to learn conversationally. Reading/writing is also easy with Korean, but forget that part for Japanese. Many foreigners learn those languages as an adult. Chinese is that hardest of all - absolutely have to start as a kid.

    No, there are Home Depot. I've been in Japan for 14 years, and each region has its own kind of Home Depot-like home center. Down here in Fukuoka there is GooDay (Yes, that's how it's spelled) and Nafco.
    Translations apps will help tourists get by but they typically lack situational awareness (it's impossible for them to know your situation) so often times they completely screw up important situations where the literal translation isn't what it actually means (which happens a lot) google translate is among the WORST. I tell Japanese people to never use it. Having said that English to Japanese works better than Japanese to English just because of how Japanese works and how Japanese use the language.

      yes the problem with translation apps is they can't handle complex stuff. Gotta keep it very short, simple, & super literal. Like you're talking to a small kid. Avoid figures of speech & the like. And if the translation is wrong, no one in the conversation will know! Terrible.

I mean the technology and awareness of full Japanese food 24/7 is essential for anybody to learn how to do video games in the most authentic place you can.... You're a great dad....
