  • Video showing newly completed prototype RC conversion to the Bruder 02141 Teleloader. The biggest challenge was to achieve 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel steering as well as squeeze all of the parts and electronics into a very limited space whilst keeping the cab area free for the driver and maintaining the original look of the model from the outside.
    As a rough guide, the total cost of the conversion including the original toy & accessories, the RC, battery & all the components that I had to buy was around £170. Build time maybe 15 - 20 hours.

    Printing instructions: all but the ram cylinder can be printed together - using ‘support everywhere’. The cylinder must not have any supports in the print file. I just used a ‘brim’ & 100% infill. I printed one set in PLA+ and the other in PETG. The cost for me to provide a full set of PETG 3D parts would be £40 GBP (plus tracked world-wide postage) - please email me on RCmodders@icloud.com if you would like me to do this for you.
    Here is a list of many the tools/parts that I used for the conversion I have included affiliate links - as this may be a way to help me fund future builds on the channel:

    Small 20A ESC’s (2 needed - one for driving along, the other to power the telescopic arm): US link: amzn.to/2DIisaZ

    100 rpm 6v N20 drive motors (4 needed) : (similar) US link: amzn.to/2Lfo7vu

    Z-bender pliers that I always use for connecting rods : ebay.to/2SCPCh6
    These would also be fine: US link: amzn.to/2ZPEO3R
    UK link: amzn.to/2JhtGHp
    Mini servos (2 needed - 1 for steering, 1 for bucket): hobbyking.com/en_us/hobbyking...
    20kg servo to lift telescopic arm (whatever you do, make sure servo does not bind at either end of travel as it will fry the ESC) : US link: amzn.to/2DES01V
    UK link: amzn.to/2Ja15DA Ebay link: ebay.to/2GUdKu9
    LiFe battery used (any 2s lipo less than or equal to 55x17x30mm should be OK, limit travel on throttle and ram motor esc on TX if using 7.2v instead of the 6.6v LiFe) : bit.ly/2VwZWcf (from Component Shop in the UK - good capacity & fits well). UK amazon link: amzn.to/2VMoHFj
    Lead screw rod (make sure not to but hardened rods as you won’t be able to drill them): ebay.to/2GWjGTq
    Servo extension lead (for bucket servo) - I just used the ones that come RC lighting sets. If using a normal extension lead, around 300mm / 12 inches would be fine.
    I used a few bolts from this set: US link: amzn.to/2GYcPrn
    UK link: amzn.to/2VJ4aRC Plus various longer sizes including a couple of countersunk bolts as detailed in the videos.
    Very thin (approx. 1mm outer diameter) silicon wire to run from motors to ESC’s from Component Shop in the UK (they are always really helpful &b knowledgeable) : www.componentshop.co.uk/
    Excellent resource to gain and share knowledge of the Bruder conversions can be found here : groups/rcbui... (this is a ‘closed’ Face Book group, so don’t forget to answer the 3 questions - designed to weed out robots - if you want to join).

      😂 thank you. The build video will be coming when I get time to do it - as will all the others that I must get rounto making. This build was only really possible & easily repeatable because of the cheap 3D printer that I used to make a few of the parts. 🙂👍

      It looks really great what you've done.

    wow your channel is awesome!!!!
    love your conversions they are done neatly and looks easy and actually practical.
    which is harder to do than some may think!!!!
    I am curious considering i'm working on my own projects like this!!!
    how do you find the 1kg servos to hold up, i thought they wouldn't be to strong for this.
    your description is also very awesome!!!!!
    thanks

    • @RCModders
      @RCModders  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Surprisingly the little digital servos are working really well in all the models. They do sometimes buz a little (but thats because they are digital). The models are so light and if you get the mechanics/throws/mechanical advantage right (no binding) they seem to be fine for all the steering / buckets. I have specifically geared all my conversions to working with the hardwood chippings (from the pet store). When I need a bit of power, then a cheap 20kg servo goes in (eg jib lifting) or a lead screw rod on the end of a 100rpm N20 motor gearbox. This all keeps the cost and complexity / build time of the conversions down. I also don't have to worry about the strength of the original Bruder toys. Obviously stronger versions of my conversions could easily be made.
      Glad you like the description, I've decided to focus effort on making sure that people can see what products I used - experimenting with different motors etc has been a time-consuming and slightly costly thing and I can't see any point in others having to go through this aspect. I'm hoping that my 3D printing approach will make these conversions even more accessible to people with less experience or without a full work shop (lathe / pillar drill etc). 🙂👍

    The Lead screw rod, can you share more details about it? The link provided doesn't bring up anything for me on Ebay. I found other options, but am not sure if the pitch & diameter are the same as you used.

    • @RCModders
      @RCModders  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are t8 lead screws for 3D printer axis drives. They are 8mm diameter. Look for cheap ones - as they tend to be softer, which is better for drilling and sawing. 😀👍

      Hey. Thanks for the comment. I don't usually build models for sale (I made 2 of these for Aaron (RC Sparks) - which took several weeks), as I really don't have the time to do them. If you build it yourself, it is very inexpensive; to get me to build one would be prohibitively expensive and very poor value for money for you I would think. I am planning to make some improvements to the design soon as well. 😀👍
