    Love this. Something George Morris once said, that has stuck with me is that you don't want to feel as though you're pulling the head down, you should be pushing the head down.

    I absolutely love your channel and find the way you explain things so clearly but I can’t afford the monthly amount to join the dressage academy so thankyou for sharing some info on TH-cam !

    Natasha! My horse and I are working on bend and flexion, but when I strengthen my outside rein and ask him to bend to the inside with my inside rein, he falls into the circle EVERY TIME, no matter how much I put pressure with my inside leg to push him back out, it's like the inside rein is opening a gate and he just runs straight into it XD

      Hi Jess! You can try these vids and hope these help. th-cam.com/video/qk0hqbNbdBQ/w-d-xo.html, th-cam.com/video/wzhCoofIUHU/w-d-xo.html. This one covers people having issues with 20 m circles by using the inside rein, so this shows how using the outside rein can actually be more effective. I have a question:) I just got a new Friesian stallion and he has a really large and bouncy stride (even for a friesian ) and i find it very difficult to sit to him especially when I'm extending his trot . What can I do ? Thank you in advance :)) also love your videos so much and your attitude in life ! ❤

    I have a question!
    So, I'm a very forward rider with strong leg action and I'm good with stubborn or more lazy horses. In my lessons, when i'm put on a forward, more "active" horse, I find it tricky to "adjust" to new horses. Any tips for adjusting to different 'types' of horses?

    • @candypanda4349
      @candypanda4349 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say the only way to adjust to different types of horses is to ride more horses! If this is your first time riding a really forward horse, once you get the hang of it you'll be able to ride forward horses better! But I would give the advice of trying to keep your legs really quiet, and although you should ride with your legs around (touching) the horse without pressure, its okay if you let your legs hang freely while you're getting the hang of it. Also, get ready to love half - halts :P Good luck! (I'll just add that in trot when you sit try not to "kick" the horse, unless it needs it.)

    my horse stretches her neck out and really low down at walk, tosses it up really high at trot and then kinda goes back to 'normal' at canter so that I have to adjust my reins at every change, would this help her keep her head still?

    Hi Natasha, I'm just wondering what brand of saddle you use? I notice you seem to sit quite far back in the saddle and it looks like there's a lot more saddle in front of you than there should be. I'm wondering if the brand of saddle pushes you back onto your bum rather than being centered? Or maybe it doesn't feel that way..? Thanks 😊

      KB Equestrian the saddlw is a officialy dressage one (ik it bc i have one) 😊 its especially for dressage (long legs)

      HorseyHorses 101 I understand it's a dressage saddle haha

      @axelevensen3825 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      KB Equestrian I think this saddle just has the higher cantle which makes the illusion of her sitting farther back, but she could also just be relaxed, which is why her posture isn't show-ready

      Natasha just loves a really nice dressage saddle. Tash loved her Peter Horobin Amazone which she used to ride her grand prix stallion Ebony Park Abe in :-) Now she rides in a couple of different saddles on the younger horses :-)
      Custom Saddles, based in the US are also very good! Cheers! Support & Championing Superstar Ryan :-)

    Hi Natasha. Now i got a question too. How do you keep your Hands high? I kinda always have my hands to low. So do you have any ideas how to fix it? :)

    • @equily9739
      @equily9739 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      your elbows should be independent from the rest of your body so that your hands stay the same. remember to bend your elbows and hold your hands up.
      my riding instructor used to see imagine that your holding two cups of coffee in you hands. if your hands are too far down the coffee would be tilted and spill boiling water all over your horse. if your hands are sideways then you will also burn your horse. if your hands bounce around.... you get the idea

    I have a question. What do you do if your horse isn't forward? I just got a new horse who came out of a riding school and I can press my lower leg as hard as I can, but he will not go forward. Today when I rode him, I could barely get him to walk and when I took a halt he wouldn't walk again! He just stood there. I pressed with my lower leg harder and harder, but there was no way. I don't want to kick him because I think that they might have done that in the riding school and that is why he is like he is. He is the sweetest horse and loves to cuddle, but the only way I can get him to move forward is by having a whip or spurs and I don't want to do that cause it makes me feel bad. Like I'm just using it as a quick solution to my problem instead of getting deeper and fixing it from scratch. Is there a way I can get him to go forward without using a whip or spurs or do I have to? Sorry, long question xD

      have you tried groundwork? I tend to find that switching it up and taking your horse straight (from field or stable) into the arena/field you ride in then asking them to yield to pressure by using posture not physical, however physical will have to be used at the start, untill you have their attention and then suddenly running away from them and when they come towards you go towards them as if you were going to catch them, then keep walking past them. (if they don't come towards you just walk up to them then past them). keep doing variations of walking past your horse, and they will react to it like a game of tag, (i run away, you gotta catch up to me up kinda thing) that will help them realise that work isn't all that bad and will get them being more energetic. then, tack up and try riding again on no contact and they should be more responsive. (only tried this on a few horses/ponies but its worked for me so far. sorry if its hard to understand, I'm not best at explaining)

    I don't want to sound stupid or whatever but I don't even know what on the bit means

    • @kbequestrian128
      @kbequestrian128 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Almost Equine it's a process 😊 a process of the horse using impulsion from the hind end, bringing the hind legs under the body, tightening the abdominals and lifting over the back, lifting the neck, bringing the poll to the highest point of the body, lightening the forehand and 'sitting' on the hind end more, having the face vertical to the ground all while staying in a rhythm, staying balanced, and holding a contact 😊 hope this helps!

    • @KoriHarlan
      @KoriHarlan 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Almost Equine idk what it means but at the same time I do 😂 it's like having a good contact and having your horse on the aids and forward motions.

      Almost Equine it takes a huge amount of time to learn, and as a rider if you're not sure how to ride/teach the horse they won't get it
