We appreciate your efforts during a challenging time, Amy! Also, I enjoy using google translate to see what people say in Mandarin - I like that people comment in multiple languages on your videos. I have really nice memories of visiting Beijing several years ago. Your neighbours are precious. I also loved what you said about meeting new people in the park. You are a great ambassador between cultures, and you share those stories in your videos in an endearing way.

About Gui Zhou Mansion (贵州大厦) - the building is actually owned & operated by the government of Gui Zhou province. It is a venue for people from that province to do business in Beijing. And for every province, there is a mansion similar to this. These are great places to sample food from those provinces, because the chefs are usually hired from the provinces and brought into Beijing (I think key ingredients also). So for example the Xin Jiang Mansion is a great place to get authentic lamb skewers. Another great place - it looks like you are in Dongcheng District so this is accessible for you - is the Si Chuan Mansion. It's my favorite place in Beijing for SiChuan food.
Beijing is my home city and watching your videos brings back a lot of good memories. The current pandemic/lockdown situation is unfortunate. Wish you stay safe & positive & keep up the good content!

In the 90s/early 2000s there wasn't much built up there. It's still beautiful but you have to go in the rainy season (I know it rains on like 70% of the days).

And the way that local guys eat this is drink the soup first to fast the original flavor and umami.
Then we add red peppers and huajiao powder to make it spicer and have it.
If you wanna to have niuroufen with red soup(spice soup), you should try An-shun niuroufen, and it is also so good.

Hi Amy , welcome back to Sydney! BTW I don’t think that guy is Guizhou ren at all, authentic Hua Xi beef noodles never come with red soup, it is original soup, like the one you had. You just missed some Hua Xi dry chillies. That’s how we guizhou ren eat it. Sending love to grandma ~

Someone had said it before that blondie Amy “can sell ice cream to Eskimos”. I’m Chinese and I learned so much about this Chinese food from Amy that I knew nothing about.

I was in Guizhou a month ago, and I have had many beef noodle in different local restaurants and they all pretty much like the one you had, neigher oily nor spicy. I don't know ,,maybe they have different "version" of noodle? In Beijing you'll see places like "Sichuan Mansion","Yunnan mansion","Guizhou mansion",,, those are the liaisons between local and central government. Usually you don't need to question the authenticity of their food. They are good, if not the best.

Amy: We supposedly have the second largest Chinatown in North America here; only second to the famous one in San Francisco. I am just very curious if Asian cities have a mirror opposite…a Westerntown, or North American Town, hidden somewhere in the streets of Beijing where White people operate restaurants with names like The Mad Grizzly, or The Shy Beaver, or The Reluctant Kangaroo…well, you know what I mean because over here all Chinese restaurants are either some kind of dragon, or phoenix, or lucky this or lucky that. Much love from Canada. -Diane, Vancouver, Canada. MnMA23/22. 08:43 pm

we have Japanese streets, Korean streets, not many west people around, so there isnt white streets.

Sadly, the answer is no, or very unlikely. There surely are a lot of restaurants owned by westerners, but it’s way not enough or maybe financially inefficient to be a town or an entire street. In fact, is not just in Asian cities. You might find it’s quite hard to find a Frenchtown (and it’s not even a correct word), or UStown where the immigrant residents and businesses are gathered in western. We do have a germantown nearby, but you know it’s just a name. I think one of the reasons is the tides of immigration in 20th century were mainly from east to west/NA, and having a restaurant is quite a exhausting business which the immigrants had not a lot of choices to live with.

@William J A clown, a really old guy with glasses, and a mermaid. Chinese restaurant owners with the dragons and phoenixes and lotus flowers will be wondering, what's the deal with these White people's food establishments.
