    I agree with you on the Coolprops Alien 1/3. It also comes with a certificate from the giger museum. I’ve had it, and the Alien life size head since they came out.
    The Alien Sideshow maquette from years ago in that Nosferatu pose is pretty good as well.

    the prime 1 should have larger shoulder tubes rims
    But I have to say I really dig the Roswell by Yoshihiko Sano even if stylized
    I agree with the palisades statue - never got it for that reason

    I hope Romulus does well enough to have a sequel, I really would love to see an alien king in the movie and maybe a cameo of Amanda Ripely. they need to get a pulse rifle in her hands. I haven’t had a good first person experience with the aliens since AVP and alien resurrection on ps1. I highly recommend resurrection if you never played it, that game was the forerunner for all modern console FPS.

    That Alien in Romulus BETTER NOT be the Big Chap. It does not look like the big in the mouth AT ALL. IF they re-designed it, then f-them. If they include the original Alien, then have the respect to re-create it as best as you can. They seem to pay attention to the set designs (retro future) pretty well, why not the star creature?

    • @V1ncenz010
      @V1ncenz010 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Personally I think it’s better to redesign big chap, add slight differences from the newer designs and possibly add details from giger’s artwork, it would make a brand new alien design that would honor the first one and make something new

      @@V1ncenz010 That would make zero logical/continuity sense. Know that if that alien in the pics is a newly created alien from the DNA of Big Chap, that's perfectly fine! But, if they are saying they captured the Big Chap floating in space and that is the Big Chap face in the pics, then he should absolutely look exactly like the creature seen in the 1978 movie - grappling hook and all still buried in the the chest. If you are using the original creature then remake the original creature.

    • @strangeform
      @strangeform  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed, way too many anatomical differences. They better have a pretty hefty explanation if this is a regenerating big chap. I stated it elsewhere here but my core feeling is that we will see a creature from one of the previous films but as a flashback or opening sequence, and probably already dead.

    • @strangeform
      @strangeform  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@V1ncenz010 I think this is a good idea if you are creating a brand-new creature, nothing better than the work of Giger to use as a jumping off point. However I'm a bit of a perfectionist, I think that if you're going to show something from the previous film you should be hunting down every single component originally used to make the most authentic recreation possible.

  • @tampakmurni
    @tampakmurni 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This is actually another new xenomorph design (again) and not the big chap.The supposed side damage is actually part of the shape. Similar to how the "head" of a male peepee has that ridge that curves upward.. A bit reminiscent to a particular kenner alien toy. A person who had seen the unfinished Romulus film made this claim (everybody in AVP Galaxy seems to trust this person, so I dunno, seems like it's true). Would suck if true. Decades and 7 movies later and nobody ever try to return to the original design. It's like everybody can't help to think that they "can do better" every time..

    • @strangeform
      @strangeform  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I saw that on the AVP forms, it's really hard to say at this point because there have been so many opposing rumors. (Plus if that popcorn bucket picture is true ,there will be something with the standard head) I'm fairly sure that either the creature that was shot out into space in covenant or the Big Chap will be making an appearance... But my gut tells me that it will be posthumous at best, i.e. something dead that they're working on in a flashback or opening title sequence. The "male peepee" description kind of sounds like Takayukie Takeya's take on the creature, I have a feeling that what we are seeing in the few stills released is something (not the big chap) that has been wounded and most of these stills are from the same scene. All of the shots make the creature look really skinny almost like the runner from three. I would say that they broke the mold with both Stan Winston and HR Giger, but over the years I've seen a whole host of incredible creature designers present incredibly innovative work, in Z brush and art station portfolios, they just aren't working in Hollywood. In the end I think this is probably going to be fun reentry into the world of the Xenomorph, but the meat and bones of world building and biology is more likely going to be to be explored in the TV series.

      @@strangeform I hope the creature in the pics is a new design (a new creature) - I do like the white gums and chrome teeth, but some of the tendons and the jaw look a bit stylized and sculpted, not natural looking.

      @chrisstreet2783 "Rubbery" is the word I think I'd use. And the brown stripes look a little more Jurassic Park than Alien. But we will see, it's easy to pick apart a still image. It really could be something impressive when in motion.

    I like the human stuff in alien movies, and sadly in covenant it was pretty bad, but i also would like for us to get a slightly smarter alien so it moves away from the glorified bug image it started taking. I dont want the alien to have a personality necessarily, but something to show they are not ants either

  • @Executive_Hamster

    Maybe its because Im first and foremost a Godzilla fan (where limitations in suit technology meant that the titular character would look vastly different between films with no explanation given), but with the radical design changes between the different versions of the xenomorph, Ive never felt that I have to explain why there are differences. At the end of the day, its a work of fiction, and as an artist myself, if I was given the role as lead designer for the film, but was then asked to strictly follow the design laid out by Giger in the 70s, Id be a little disappointed. Id want to put my own spin on the design, have some creative liscense, and not worry about being strictly lore bound. Because Im not making a documentary, Im making a piece of fiction. Thats why I generally look at designs as either good or bad, rather than by how accurate they are. The AVP/ AVPR aliens, for example, arent super accurate to the Big Chap, but from a design standpoint I think they are way cooler looking than the Big Chap so it gets a pass. Meanwhile the creature from Covenant may have more design queues from Giger, but overall its just a really ugly design.
    Thats how I see it at least. As long as the design in Romulus is awesome looking, Im satisfied.

    • @strangeform
      @strangeform  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, I may not agree with your opinion, but I would fight to the death for you to have it! I understand what you're saying regarding the old Godzilla films, the redesign was actually part of the charm. However, I'm a bit of a stickler for details and I honestly don't think you can improve on the original Big Chap design, it is arguably one of the most iconic creature designs in film history, something constantly imitated but never exceeded. I get what you're saying about wanting to put your own stylistic mark on a creature design, but I think when you are bringing back something from a previous film, for continuity sake, you should be trying your hardest to be authentic down to the most minute details. The dark horse comics did a really good job bringing new ideas to the forefront while still paying tribute to the original concepts and designs. I.e. adding things like praetorian guards (John Bolton's cover for Aliens earth war 3), and other subclasses of Xenomorph. So instead of reinventing the same thing over and over, I think that the series should try to expand on and build out the lifecycle of the creature, the way that James Cameron's aliens did in introducing us to a Queen.

    I'm sorry but in what part does in the ALIEN novelization say that the "Thrusters blast the Alien 3 times because it has 3 layers of skin"? It doesn't say that at all, in fact it says that though the Alien managed to survive a bit on the void of space, it finally succumbs to the environmental changes and bursts. So in the novelization it does not survive, because it either implodes or explodes, in the Comic Book Illustrated Story, the blast from the thrusters utterly incinerates the Alien and fiery remains or pieces are left floating. I own the Novelization and you can find the audio book narration of the novelization here too.

    • @strangeform
      @strangeform  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You know I might stand corrected, it is something I distinctly remember from the book, but after thumbing through my copy, I am not sure if I got this from one of the scripts I picked up at Golden Age Collectables, they used to carry unused and alternate scripts... though they also used to be notorious for having fake script drafts. Honestly, it is not even the same creature in the book. It is described as having big eyes like one of the early Giger concepts and no inner mouth (along with it eating the crew's food and other differences). I remember that script having a lot more sex than I was expecting. I talked it over with a few friends who remember the same factoid but not from where. Maybe my own personal Mandela effect. If I can't find the source, I will have to amend the video.

      @@strangeform The designs you mentioned are indeed in the novelization. There's a part on where they are discussing Brett's death/Abduction and the possible sense the Alien uses because they wanted to use electric wiring to set traps. Parker is the one that mentions that he "wouldn't be surprised if the Alien's big eyes were not used by it, if those thing were its eyes" to which Ripley replies promptly that they aren't.
      Also the Alien eating the rations is also in the novelization. But what's not, is the intimacy of the crew with each other. Those bits are on the different drafts of the Script and even the test screen with Ripley has her strip to a scene with the original Kane actor, whom apparently is playing Dallas on that test scene. In the script they are interrupted by Kane's remains that are floating snagged on the gravitational pull of the ship in hyperspace. Kane's remains part is in the Comic Version of Dan O'Bannon's original script, but again, no intimacy.
      I too obsessed about every little detail on ALIEN and its sequels development and production. And aside the parts of what I pointed on my comment post, I agreed with you on everything else. Especially the Noah Hawley series and the correction of the David supposedly creating the Aliens. Also, if I'm not mistaken, The Space Jockeys will be included as indeed a separate race not related to the Engineers.
