I had my doubts about a battery powered chainsaw but I bought the EGO 16" 56v last week. Today I cut up a 12' 16" dia Ash log. Made 10 cuts before the battery ran out (2.5 Ah). No bogging down, chewed right through the wood). This saws great, almost no noise, instant stop, metal bucking teeth and light weight. I can't say enough good things about it.

Thank you very much! I purchased a used one online, & noticed that the chain was coming off. Good to know that's a common issue!

When laying the saw on it's side; cutting wood two inches and smaller; have the chain a little tighter than you normally would. That should keep it from coming off. Just remember to loosen it after you're done with your project.

Thank you for the review. I got mine yesterday and used it today. Very happy with it. I have small to medium trees to cut and this chainsaw goes right through them. I am happy with my purchase so far.

Very good review. As a gas saw fan, I appreciate the pros and cons. I was curious about the tightening system, no doubt it's nice to have a tool free tightening system, but i wonder if that also means it isn't as tight as traditional bolt held bars causing the loosening issue. I also wonder how the system will hold up over time.
Isn't a saw I'd want, but i liked the well done honest review.

Thanks! So far it's been performing great! I will try to do a follow-up video possibly next year talking about how it's holding up. Thanks so much for watching!

Thanks for the tips! Could you lighten the saw using the EGO backpack battery/adaptor kit?

My only concern is, battery is hot. I wonder how the capacity of the battery relates to the temperature. Great video 👍

I have a old school Remington electric Chain saw. No batteries, no wait time, just plug into a 110 outlet and good to go.

Battery powered works a lot better for me because I use it to trim trees at the back of my property between two fences. It did a great job and also gave me an updated battery for the mower, which was 5 years old at the time.
Wireless tools are way more convenient and don't need to be near an outlet or need huge extension cords.
I bought my Ego 16" chainsaw with a 5ah battery and it's my main battery I use with my lawnmower. It's 3 years old now and still working great.

🤣 corded power tools are so dated and clunky

This Ego chainsaw is one of the few battery powered saws that have metal bucking spikes. I also have the Greenworks and Dewalt chainsaws and those are plastic and I wouldn't consider them spikes.

Unless you're really far from the house, just keep swapping batteries on the chargers as they run out. I'm unsure why anyone would bring all their batteries outside, and deplete them all, before starting to recharge.

Can't you charge while you're using oone of them? Just rotate them through the charger? Also, what about the back pack EGO has?

Batteries are FAIRLY expensive? The last battery I bought; cost me over half a thousand dollars!

I disagree with your battery assessment. If you have the Rapid charger, or the Turbo charger; three batteries should keep you in business all day.
Also; I have two 120v 4" cooling fans that I place the battery between. I let the battery sit there anywhere from fifteen minutes to a half hour; depending on how hot or big the battery is.
This greatly speeds up the charging time.
