I think the biggest "problem" is that if a person wants to travel back and forth, the flights include long waits, making it arduous to get to and from Cuenca. That doesn't seem to be changing any time soon.
Did you end up in El Vergel ? Fun video. Watching again :-). Appt. Next week...consulate. interview... seems bad time of year ( holidays) to arrive.... love video. Tks.

Thank you so much! You guys did an Excellent job. We’ve been trying to decide on a neighborhood to settle in when we get there and we’ve heard a lot of good things about this one. Close proximity to El Centro is a plus. Keep doing this guys. We appreciate you!🎉😇😊
Thank you so much for watching! It does seem like a great area. We're going to keep looking around, but it's certainly a top contender. Have a great one!
thank you, amazing neighborhood. on our next trip we will be sure to visit there. we plan on retiring in two years so we may wind up being neighbors in the future
Another great one! That busy streets with all the coffee shops is one of the old streets of Cuenca, it's called Las Herrerías, you'll definitely have to go a bunch of times to try tortillas, tamales, chumales, yaguana, morocho, and more! All traditional snacks. I loved the ending with the little voodoo doggy 😂😂😂😂😂 cracked me up!! You also walked by very close to our favorite cookie bakery Tulipano.
Thanks Rene! Looking forward to trying those snacks, and the cookie bakery. That little dog by Sandy's dad's house is so mean! It's tried to bite us like so many times!!! 🐩😠😠😠🤣🤣🤣😁😁😁👍
You are in my neighborhood. Three month Airbnb we are in is on Paucarbamba where you started the walk. It is pretty quiet and close to the church where the local food vendors are.
Love the video. Great show and tell. Please do more for those of us,,,, in the future working our way down to wonderful Ecuador. Great to see you again ! :-) can’t thank you enough.

Nice video , No, really nice video ! I'm 6 months into immigrating to Ecuador. First month Apartamentos Otorongo . Patio so close to the Tomebamba I worried about falling in some nights. haha. Very safe and family operated. 1 bedroom apt. with everything I needed. $700 bucks. 20 minuet walk to El Centro . But quickly learned how to take the 30. cent bus or dollar taxi to avoid the hill. (freking knees ) I ended up moving to Gringolandia ? Mostly because the building had a indoor pool. Partly cause it had more concentration of gringos . Have a small motorcycle now . Swim 4 to 5 days a week . 30 minuet Spanish lesson online after . Than ride to El Centro , El Vergel area or into the mountains. At 62 , I wish I could go back 6 moths ago. Tell scared adventures me . Live in El Centro for a month than move to El Vergel. But , If I took good advice . I wouldn't be living in this incredible country . Hahaha
There is also an area between El Vergel and Totems and between the Tomebamba and Yanuncay river. Hi Eric and Sandy, one of your newer videos came up in our feed, so I took the moment to see if you'd added Spanish subtitles. Although the newer one didn't appear to have them, this one did. My multi-lingual family thanks you. We're Like #287 for this video. If you're able add Spanish subtitles to your other videos in Ecuador, we'll subscribe and likely comment on the videos we watch. Have a great week.
Thank you for letting us know. We thought all of them had the subtitles on them. We will look into that as soon as possible. Thank you for watching the video and again thank you for letting us know that the subtitles are not working on all of them. Have a wonderful day. I will get back with you when we figure out why they are not working on all of the videos.
@@ericandsandy Of course. We haven't clicked on every video, however those we have tried, haven't had the Spanish subtitles turned on yet. I may be able to offer more details, however aside from it helping TH-cam potentially determine to place your videos into the feeds of ESL users, I believe the configuration needs to be done for each video individually. Thanks for your efforts and consideration.
Hello Eric and Sandy. We found your channel a week ago. As you try to grow your audience, would you please consider turning on the subtitle option to allow TH-cam (via a ROKU) to display languages other than English for subtitles? In our case, my multi-lingual family would greatly appreciate Spanish subtitles. I'm happy to try to help explain one of the easiest manners to accomplish this. It's free, and you won't have to spend time trying to translate anything. Thanks for your consideration.
Thank you for letting us know about that. We will look into getting that changed as soon as possible. Great tip. Thanks again and thank you for watching. Happy New Year to you and your family.
I’m still a newbie in Cuenca so don’t know all the areas well. I’ve heard a lot of parque paraíso and will get there eventually. In the mean time I’m trying to set up my own Acropolis in the Athens of Ecuador 🇪🇨 😬🤣

Hello again Eric and Sandy, if it's any help you were able to successfully configure this particular video to feature Spanish subtitles. If you look in to the configurations for this video it may help explain the additional steps to apply for the other videos on your channel. If you take the time to do it, we'll like and add a comment to each video from your channel which offers Spanish subtitles. Thanks again for your efforts, and consideration.
Hello Pedro. Thought we had replied to this so we apologize if we haven't. All you have to do is touch the CC on the video, then tap the little gear wheel besides CC for the settings, then touch caption where it says English and then you can change the language to Spanish. The Spanish subtitles are on when we check ours. You should be able to use this method and see Spanish subtitles on all of our videos now. This is something that TH-cam has just currently updated to and you should be able to do this for any video now we believe. Thank you for watching and let us know if you have any other problems.
@@ericandsandy Yes you did. Zero need to apologize. I tried to respond to the earlier comment, and went back to the one video we know of where you succesfully toggled the Spanish language option. If you play your channel from a Roku connected device, you'll see what I'm trying to describe. Away from a P/C, the CC/Settings options is very limited, and the user can only toggle on what the Channel Manager has set up. If you're able to do this, we'd be extremely appreciative.
