Overnight stay on the beach - parking lot #21.
Note: IBPS does NOT allow camping, but you can stay overnight if you are fishing. Each person 12+ yr old must have a fishing rod. They do not allow a full enclosed tent, but you may have a sunshade, canopy or beach tent.
This is one of the very best, prettiest, and most fun filled videos I have ever seen on TH-cam. I live pretty close to Ibsp but never did an overnight thing. Thank you so much for posting this lovely video

We got there a little late and had just enough daylight to bring everything from the parking lot onto the beach. Luckaly, our tents were pop-ups and preety easy to setup. The kids had a great time staying over night on the beach. We will definitely do it again next year.

Awesome, looks like a great time! I happened to fill out the permit form and mailed it in a couple days ago. Finally decided to do this after thinking about it the last 2 years lol. I will be going quite often with my wife and 7 and 4 year old. While we are fishing are the kids allowed to play in the water? As long as they are not in anyone's area and bothering while fishing? I've been unable to get any answer on this. We know how little ones are and they are going to want to go in at times. Now it's a waiting game. For the snail mail and for them to process and mail me my mobile fishing pass. A lot of people been waiting 3 weeks already and haven't gotten it yet.
Yes, the kids can definitely swim in the fishing area while you fish. That’s one of the reason why I love this beach. Not all my kids are interested in fishing, some rather build sand castle than fish. You and your family will have a great time there. IBSP has about 23 parking lots with bathrooms located at certain lots. We stayed at lot #21 specifically because it has one of the biggest bathroom area in the south end of the park. At 15:10 of the video, you can see what the bathroom looks like. Cheers!
@@K5Adventures YEs I saw that facility by your camp after the fact. My bad. It has changed from my days of being there. The only facilities where at the first parking lot. NONE at the other parking lots. Now just think of how that little camping trip would have been 30 years ago. Even 10 years ago,. The prime rib looked great.

IBSP is one of my favorite beaches in NJ and the only few that allows you to drive onto the beach.

I'm not going to park on the beach, there is a separate parking lot for cars correct? And then we can just walk from the parking lot to the beach? Also, is the bathroom open 24/7 as well? Really want to take the family for night fishing. TIA
Yes, there are other sections of the park for swimming. These areas include changing room and food.

Seeing stars in the sky depends if there are clouds in the sky or not. The night we were there, the sky was clear so we were able to see them. Especially, when there’s no light on the beach.
So can you just camp there? And what was that I hear about no t being able to pitch up a tent?
The rule said you can not camp there. Therefore, you can not pitch a tent. However, you are allow to fish overnight and may have a sunshade. If you're there to fish, you can stay overnight. Each adult must have a fishing rod in the water.
Do you have to fish entirely through the night are you able to sleep at all?
While we hung out by the campfire pretty, we we were still able to get some sleeping in. We casted our lines and stuck the rods in the sand and let it be. I had lights and bells on the tip of the rods to indicate when there’s a fish on. So you don’t have to be holding the rod all night.

Were you allowed to drive on the beach to your camping spot? I would really like to do this but I’m not sure if it’s allowed.
Yes you can drive onto the beach provided you have a permit and vehicle capable of doing so. I did not drive on since my car wouldn’t be able to handle the soft sand. If you decide to drive on, there are free air stations to inflate your tires after you come off the sand.
I got the registration for me and my husband, i called to double check and they asking for application filled and approved to stay overnight
I need 4x4 to be able to stay overnight 😩
@@yisel4u4ever if you didn't, youd be stuck. Even some 4x4's have difficulties on the sand.
You don’t have to drive onto the beach. You can also walk onto the bench. There are parking lots all along the bench. But if you want to drive on, you’ll need proper permits and equipments to do so.

We want to do this so many time but don't know much rule and kids too young. they are now 10 and 13. i think I am going to go camping out this year. Can you help me out what area do I need to park my car and allow to go in? we normally stay at swimming area A and B with family.
From the swim parking area, you just need to drive further in (close to the dead end of road). I’ll see some small parking areas. If you want to stay overnight, you’ll need to have a fishing rod for each person 18 and older. You will not be able to have a tent. The park only allows sunshade canopy. Have fun!
Hi, I know I’m a little late to this video.......but by any chance do you remember if park rangers were driving around at night?
When I was there, the ranger drove by once after it got dark. Then, they later flew a drone over all overnight visitors up and down the beach. As long as you follow the rules, they won’t give you any issue.

What kind of vehicle do you have? Such as a nice idea. Is there a bathroom?
I did not drive onto the beach since my vehicle is not capable of handling the soft sand. We carried everything in by hand. There are bathrooms there. So lots have bigger and cleaner bathrooms than others.

Cee Bear technically you can not camp there. However, you are allow to stay overnight if you are fishing. That said, they will only allow sun shade canopies. No enclosed tents are permitted.

Owen Thunderguns You’re correction. We initially had camping tents setup (fully enclosed tents). We later took them down because the park ranger came by and informed us that no fully enclosed tents are permitted. Only sunshades or wind block tents are allowed (open on 3-sides).
Can you still camp on the beach there or have they stopped allowing it?
zalkona IBSP does not allow camping. However, if you are fishing, you can stay over night. But no fully covered tent allowed because that’s considered “camping”.
i have AWD subaru crosstrek... is that allowed to drive?
I haven’t driven my vehicle on to the beach, but from what I heard. You need more than just a vehicle that is capable of driving onto the sand. For example shovel, towel strap etc. There are free air bumps to inflate your tires once you leave the sand.
How much were camping permits?
You are not allow to camp, i.e., pitch an enclosed tent, at IBSP. However, you are allow to stay overnight if you are fishing and can put up a sunshade with at least 3 sides open. Each adult must have a fishing rod. That said, no camping permit is required. The park does charge a few dollars ($10-20) per car when entering the park during daytime, but is free during evening time when swimming beach selections are closed. I hope that was helpful to you.

You’re correct. As I’ve stated in numerous replies, the park does NOT allow camping. However, you are allow to stay over night if you are fishing. Additionally, you may have a sun shade canopy but not a fully enclosed tent. I hope that’s was more hopeful to you.
Do u need a fishing license ?
No fishing license is needed for salt water fishing.
You do have to register tho for saltwater fishing in NJ.

Can I dig a hole in the sand and make a fire pit ?
Yes, many people have a camp fire in the evening. Just bring logs because there isn’t any wood to collect on the beach.
COMPLETELY ILLEGAL TO CAMP ON THE BEACH IN ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK. DO IT AND EXPECT A HEFTY FINE
