An extremely unlucky passage for Saints but perfect umpiring. The Clarke play on call was particularly fantastic by the ump.
Agree with D C here, even if it wasn't touched off the boot it would've been tough to distinguish whether it did or did not. Umpires should always play the lesser if not sure therefore it's the correct call.
That's like the only one here that is correct, as per what D C said. To add though, if you go frame by frame by pressing the > key, you can see clearly that clark absolutely does kick the ball before it hits the ground.

The first one was a really bad bounce, if it went straighter the players running in might have had a chance to get to the ball. 1:18 Looked really bad from that angle, I wonder if it did hit his boot, if so correct. I think 1:05 was incorrect based on the interpretation of the rules at the time.
Thats the only one i would argue is actually right. The rule is if a player kicks the ball out of bounds without a teammate within 15 metres of the ball it’s considered deliberate. Its only now they have cracked down. Back when it was called it wasnt so much known.
@Not KimJong-un You have to put it in the context of the era it happened in. They absolutely NEVER paid free kicks like that back when this happened. It was only when it was blatantly obvious that the player was trying to get the ball out of play that they paid a free kick. At 3:08 Jordan Clark got a very slight kick on the ball, and the decision is thus technically correct. I personally would have penalised him anyway, but if you want to split hairs, the decision was correct.
You’ve missed the worst call ever from about 15 years ago, Essendon vs Fremantle. Matthew Carr for Fremantle kicked toward goal but it went for a behind but Carr got dumped after he kicked the ball. The main umpire runs out and tells the other umpire to ask the player whether he wants to take the kick again, so the second umpire asked………..the offending Essendon player, who then kindly declined the offer. 😂 Several Fremantle players tried to tell the umpire he’d asked the wrong player but he wouldn’t change his decision.
