      well who would want to play a foreign game and not want to know the meaning of its title?

    It looks like a variation of Battle Line

    I got my mom into playing Jaipur last summer and we played so many times we're bored of it now. This seems like a great replacement!

    Played this for the first time tonight, and wow! Holy crap! what a total brain burner :O (in a good way) Hats off to the creator for making a game with so few cards and components so tense. Our first game on turn 2 in and our brains were burning already... crazy decision making where offering your cards is as nail biting as making the choice as to which ones you receive.

    Thanks for review, Sam! You've dig so much out of this little gem!
    For those who are interested, Hanamikoji will be on sale at TBD (Taiwan Boardgame Design) booth in Essen Spiel this year. You may also order it online and get it shipped to you! :-)

    Thanks for the review! This looks like a charming little card game - and I just love, love the artwork on the geisha cards. Might have to pick this up whenever I can.

    Liking the angle Sam is using to show the card games recently.

    Thank you for the excellent reviev. Iv'e go to say that when it comes to explaining rules, you are much better than Tom and Zee (I like them too of course). I have bought the game to have in my backpack. Can't wait to play it.

    This is a very beautiful game, and among my all-time favourites. It is thematically perfect. I always feel terribly underdressed when I play, but I try to move and act honourably, with grace and with the highest respect for my rival for the attentions of the seven Geisha. Of course, winning their favour requires great subtlety and guile. Only the brash and uncouth would not consider every action with the greatest care. Thus Hanamikoji is an exemplar for contemplation, courtesy and diplomacy in everything you seek to achieve. 10/10

    Always looking forward to two player games for my wife and I to play. This one looks like fun and I'm all about the art it board games. Will add Hanamikoji to my wish list!

    Sam, wow, impressed by your review. If you are glowing about a Zee type game, damn this game must be the real deal! My "short list" for games is staring to get long !

    Is there really any reason not to choose the "2. Trade-off" action as the last action of the four?

    • @earendilm
      @earendilm 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      McSSJust you are drawing a new card each turn, so you are getting new information all the time, and that along with the number of geisha you have at the start of the round (they aren't resetted) will change the best action order.

    It's interesting to me how people say Geisha were artists and when I said that to someone half Japanese he said oh noooo they aren't. His mama-san from Japan felt differently.

  • @Tennethums1

    Oh, they're "artists" alright....😇
