I'm curious. If someone actually managed to remove their own leg, stop the bleeding, successfully attach, and disinfect the leg would it function like a normal prosthetic leg? Or would people who look at it attempt to rip it off again and it would function as 'normal?'
SCP-1993 is someone elses previously detached leg. So when you see it, you cut off your leg. That leg you cut off is now SCP-1993. The leg you then attach, once attached, is no longer SCP-1993. Your old leg gains a tattoo. Not mentioned was whether the leg you attached retains the tattoo. Unless you were someone with the skill, knowledge, tools, and badassery to attach the leg properly then the "operation" would be a failure and the leg will rot and die as normal. If the operation is a success then unless the new limb was compatible and isn't rejected then it would still rot and die as normal.
the page says that scp-1993 can be taken from the room without anomalous effect once another leg is left behind; this second leg can now be identified as SCP-1993. All instances thus removed have had a compass rose tattoo on the ankle. so i the leg freshly cut of and that was replaced turns in the scp-1993 if i understand this part right
Depends on how long it's had to decay and general tissue rejection but it's possible to survive. Just incredibly unlikely. Due to the methods they use to remove and reattach. Which seems to be the same regardless of what's available.

Well it was said in the document that any newly removed leg becomes the SCP and the former limb loses it's ability. So I assume that they just have a different leg. But there are some things I would want to know about it. 1. What would happen if someone sees their original leg after the effects of the SCP transfer? If they see it and it really is their leg does it still brainwash them or is it some sort of ".... wait.... ah shoot!" moment? 2. If some sort of intensive surgery was done to graft the SCP onto a patient without removing any of their legs, will the limbs goal be fulfilled? For this one I'd imagine that the victim will not be satisfied unless it's attached to the right leg, but it's still interesting to consider.
I just recently got an idea for a bit of fan fiction or else like a short story or series based on the SCP foundation. The story would be told from the point of view of a D Class personnel who is constantly used as a guinea pig for, well, you guys know. But the catch is, he miraculously survives most of the tests he's used in by willpower, an absurdly positive outlook on things, or just dumb luck. (Sort of like henchmen 21 and 24 from Venture brothers but only vaguely similar) The series would hopefully sort of delve into the culture and back story of what the foundation really does with D class personnel, how they are treated, and how the D class live behind the scenes. What do you guys think?

I'm pretty sure this scp is based off an actual illness called BIID (Body Integrity Identity Disorder). It happens when there's damage to the part of the brain that recognizes your body as part of you and distinguishes your body from its surroundings. Sufferer's of BIID perceive one or more of their limbs as "Not theirs." To them, it's as if someone took their arm or leg and replaced it with this new one. BIID generally isn't noticed until the person attempts to amputate the "foreign" limb. This usually lands them in the hospital. Since the disorder is caused by brain damage, it's pretty much impossible to reason with a BIID sufferer because even when you explain exactly what is happening to them and they understand, they still can't get rid of the feeling that this limb shouldn't be there. They will never see that limb as theirs ever again. This often ends in amputation by any means necessary. BIID sufferer's often feel better after they amputate the limb. They usually feel quite relieved.
