    This became a huge hit in the ‘60’s, creating a Bossa Nova craze, which is the style of music from Brazil, & the language is Portuguese. The male singer, Joao Gilberto, just died in July of 2019. Astrud Gilberto, who sang in English, was his wife. I think she still performs today. Nice choice & reaction. 👍🏾

    You recognize it because it’s one of the most famous songs in the world. My favorite song. Astrud Gilberto is a vocal goddess and her husband Joao Gilberto, vocals, guitar pioneer of bossa nova, cool jazz.

    • @cfoley1014

      This song won a Grammy for record of the year and the album won Grammy for aoty. Many covered it including Frank Sinatra and Amy Winehouse. It’s been in so many films, tv shows and commercials. Amazing musicianship and production.

    This is a super oldie.. I used to love this. I think this was my first introduction to "jazz". I really love how you really listen to the music and don't showboat like a lot of other reactors.

    • @beaujac311
      @beaujac311 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      E BooBoo:. Exactly. I agree with you about Just Jammin'. All you want from reactors is their true reaction. We aren't here to see the reactors put on a show. E BooBoo I will give you the name of a husband and wife team who does a great job at reactions. Their name is Rob Squad Reactions. Pay no attention to their thumbnail it's over the top, but their reactions are great.

      @@beaujac311 LOL.. I used to watch them but they stop the music every 5 seconds and talk way too damn much. They got annoying to me.. JJ is about the only one I watch any more..

    • @beaujac311
      @beaujac311 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ebooboo6784 Alright. I don't have a problem with them stopping the music as long as they have a good reason for stopping it. They tend to stop it when they hear something nice in the vocals or instrumentally. I like that because I be hearing some of the same things.
      The reactors I don't like are the ones who be trying to dance and put on a show. You can tell that they think that they are the focal point and not the music they are supposed to be reacting to.

      Actually was written because of that when Vinicius de Morais would watch this girl walk to the beach from the cafe he would sit in (eventually named the cafe after the song). The girl actually existed and became famous in Brazil for it.

    The definition of cool. Brilliant convergence of voice (both Astrud and Joao Gilberto) piano, and Stan Getz's saxophone. In many ways jazz at it's very best. Glad that you enjoyed so much; it's a very classy song I heard as a boy. Remember this was 1964, with Beatlemania and the British invasion, Beach Boys playing California beach music and this, Bossa Nova. It was a major time for great musical genres.

  • @joelmoreno4223
    @joelmoreno4223 ปีที่แล้ว

    It was a very, very popular song in the 60s, introduced Americans to 'Bossa Nova'.
    Stan Getz, one of the very best saxophonists of the 60s (along with Paul Desmond, and John Coletrane).
    That's Antonio Carlos Jobim on guitar and singing, along with Astrud Gilberto (from Brazil) singing, great musical from that time. It was really great being a young man enjoying life at that time, great music, beautiful women, fast (muscle) cars, who could ever expect more? God.....

    I've read that "The Girl From Ipanema" and "Summertime" are the two most-covered songs. And I've heard lots of renditions of The Girl From Ipanema, by some famous singers and musicians, but the only two that I actually like are the one you just listened to, which is the definitive version, and the version by Lou Rawls.

    Stan Getz is one of the all time Jazz greats on the tenor sax, born in Philadelphia in 1927, he was know as "The Sound". In 1962 an Album called Jazz Samba was released, it was a world wide hit, one Trac from the album was released as a single, Desifinado, it was also a hit world wide, The Girl from Ipanema was on a follow up album two years after Jazz Samba. You have to give Desifinado a listen.
