Saw Woody play ~25 years ago at a converted fire station in my neighborhood in SE Portland, it was made into a community music center, teaching people how to play, having concerts, etc. We didn't have youtube back then, but I had heard Woody play through instructional CD or something, knew he was a great player. That concert was magical, definitely on my short list of best concerts I've ever seen. Woody Mann's unique talent is a combination of skillful musicianship and musical genius, combined with a sweet voice and wonderful songwriting, combined make him one of the best singer-songwriter-musicians to my taste. Maestro Woody is irreplaceable, and thankfully we still have his recording - I'm fortunate and grateful to have seen him play in person.

RIP Woody. I had the pleasure of learning guitar from him on a couple of occasions.

Good lord I'd almost forgotten how much of an ANIMAL this guy was. I imagine him living in a cage, and they'd just throw him some raw meat every now and then to feed him!!! What a phenomenal artist this guy was.

@@owengardiner4628 Hehe. John Hurt represented the older idea, but Blake probably showed the new idea with his rolling thumb. Blake really pushed things further.

In the 60's, I studied acoustic Blues guitar with the great Philadelphia Jerry Ricks. Jerry taught me the music of Doc Watson, Mississippi John Hurt, Blind Blake, Blind Boy Fuller and other great acoustic Blues musicians.
A very good performance, however, I have to mention that IMO , spending a little time with a metronome probably wouldn't hurt.

I learned a huge lesson from watching this video. He is stalling for time. Do not talk so much. There was a day when I would never say a word. I would sit there looking like I was going to eat the small children first. I don’t know what happened. But, now, I will never take the stand in my own defense. I will convict myself just to shut me up. GEEZ, LOUISE, there is no hope for me now. Thanks goodness I am not in France in 1850. ......one whack......😳.......never another word!
