- Schminnow are very popular flies for snook on the beach, under docklights, and in the shallows of the backcountry. They work very well and are very easy to tie so great for beginners. Generally tied to be very light for a soft presentation and designed to provide alot of movement when stripped. This is a fly you will want if your box next time you head out for snook.

Thanks for the video…I live near Sarasota and really love the schminnow…I need to start tying my own flies.
Careful tying is very addicting.
I'm in SW FL, Norm Zeigler territory, and I'm a new fly tier. Your fly is excellent. Thank you for the instruction!
Thank you.
I'm up in the panhandle and have been using it off the beach. No snook or tarpon so far but reds, spanish, small jack. Great fly- my beach starter every time.
Ya probably not many snook in the pandhandle. Should be tarpon and I bet good numbers of reds
