In souls games stats can only get you so far. You can still beat the game on level 1 without taking a single hit if you are good enough, levels and stats just make it a bit easier. Hence the infamous term “Git gud”.
yes and no, I mean it kinda helps to have the stats to use your weapon effectively just saying. Can you beat it level 1 yes, will you hold a candle to a good leveled build, hell no @@Mosamania

Leveling is designed to be a crutch from the get go, nothing is in the game was made as a level check like many RPGs do, leveling and weapon and flask upgrades buy you more chances to recover from mistakes. The difficulty is designed to punish mistakes not designed to punish being under leveled, you are not guaranteed a single hit (except very few instances like Mohg’s Nihil even then you need three flask charges to recover from it, exactly the amount you start the game with). If you are talking PVP then yeah, that brings a completely different topic into the conversation.
It is heartwarming and always sends chills down my spine whenever I hear someone enjoy yelling KA-ME-HAAAAAA-MEEEEE-HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! or BAN-KAI!. I hear Goku and Ichigo voices whenever that happens and a feelsgoodman feeling passes through me and heals me.
