    For health reasons, I will hardly ever be able to visit the States again. But videos like this one bring me back again through this very diverse, beautiful country. Thank you, Sir, for taking us on this great journey. And for those who do not see any sense in such videos: these films can bring comfort, heal souls.
    Thanks for the great work. May God bless you and protect and guard you on your journeys!

    Thanks for doing this in real time. It's nice to be able to read the road signs as you go along.

    • @unclecoolie
      @unclecoolie  6 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      My pleasure. It would've been easier to read the signs if I recorded this in UHD. The Garmin Virb Ultra 30 records in UHD, but I had to set it to 1080p/30fps in order to keep the video files from becoming too massive. As it was, this video was nearly 100GB in size and took most of the day to upload and process, and editing this file filled up my 2TB hard drive midway through the process. TH-cam has a 128GB file size limit, so if I wanted to use UHD for long road trips, I'd have to break the trip down in many parts.

I enjoyed the displays of time, elevation, the red dot on the map marking your progress, the notation of what roads you were on. You could not have done a better job. Hi, Uncle Coolie! Today I'm watching the first day , from Washington DC to Wildwood. It's 13:50 in France.I'll go to bed 13 hours later. That's what it's called slow TV, and I really enjoy: I feel OK watching it , though outside in France, it's 18° C, and I 'd better go have a walk along the seaside.
    You just gave me to do as well, and plan a coast to coast journey...a fortnight would be OK, it would be frustrating for me to do it within four days.Tank you for your perfect videos, rallye👍😊

    • @unclecoolie
      @unclecoolie  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much. I was relatively close to you: I was in Germany the last two weeks and just got home only last night. (I live in the Washington, DC area.) 18° isn't bad. It's only about 3° at my house at the moment. 😊 I have many more videos to come in the next several months.

    • @unclecoolie
      @unclecoolie  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you continue watching all four videos, you'll notice that the topography gets pretty flat by the time I drive through Illinois and stays pretty flat until Denver, Colorado, although there are some nice rolling hills in Missouri and eastern Kansas. Driving into Denver, you can see the eastern precipice of the Rockies, which is nice. While I was in Germany, I got a chance to drive down to see the northern precipice of the Alps, which was gorgeous! I actually have video of that drive that I'll upload at some point.

      @melvillebartleby6285 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Uncle Coolie, l noticed it , specially across Missouri and Kansas! To tell the truth, it's a way long, but I really enjoy the skyline, when watching some parts of your 2° step along.This huge horizon is so strange. I could not drive along your first day all, because guests came home...and I suppose they would not understand I can stick to a virtual coast to coast trip on my computer! So I stopped in Shenandoah county, which looks a little like my birthplace! But I currently live and work on the Atlantic French coast ( just a paradise , always mild weather), near La Rochelle (not New Rochelle, New Jersey!). Anyway, if you drive in France, specifically between Bordeaux and Nantes, so I would be glad you are my guest, you are welcome , don't say it is just words, I mean it! Thank you for all your perfect videos!

      unclecoolie yes, I saw quite a few videos out there that were longer than this, but as it is right now on the “Upload videos longer than 15 minutes” page, it clearly said 128GB or 12 hours!? I’m confused because of what it said on the page and what people could upload had past that limit. I have constantly trying to upload longer than 12 hours video but it said “I exceeded the limit.”

    • @unclecoolie
      @unclecoolie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're welcome. The heading is the direction (270 degrees is west, 180 degrees is south, 90 degrees is east, and 0 is north), but I've found it to be too inaccurate, which is why I stopped using it after my 2018 videos. It's interesting how it's so inaccurate given that the position coordinates are usually very accurate.

    There's about a 20 mile stretch on I-64 in southern Indiana where the time zone changes back and forth from eastern time to central time on five different occasions. Crawford to Perry (ET to CT), Perry to Dubois (CT to ET), Dubois to Spencer (ET to CT), Spencer to Dubois (CT to ET), then Dubois to Spencer (ET to CT). Once back in Spencer, between Ferdinand and Dale, it stays CT.

    • @unclecoolie
      @unclecoolie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's correct. The interstate planners didn't take into consideration the time zone changes. Of course, back then a driver didn't have any devices that automatically changed times for the time zones.

    • @charleswesterfieldii4592
      @charleswesterfieldii4592 ปีที่แล้ว +1
