- A new series that will feature some of my vinyl record spins of the week. My show will headline a Canadian artist, a soundtrack, a compilation, a great spin, and other plays from the week. I hope you enjoy. Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
Hi Darryl. Great one. I liked installment one and looking forward to future ones. Bruce Cockburn - Mummy Dust and several others are on my radar. I always liked him. The Neverending story was a favorite movie of my kids back in the day. That Giorgio has an outstanding voice. Nice Janis pickup.
Thanks Shawn. I never really realized how good Janis Joplin was. That Greatest Hits album rocks! Glad you enjoy some Bruce Cockburn. He's an acquired taste for some, but I really like him as well! Cheers, Darryl.
Great idea for a series! I remember K-Tel Records advertisements being all over the TV when I was growing up. I'm sure I had a couple myself. That Janis Joplin Greatest Hits was also popular when I was younger. Everyone had it, including me. Looking forward to future installments!
Thanks Mark. I was at the tail end of the K-tel advertisements, but I do remember going into the 90s when Columbia House was all the rage for CDs. I think that was how my parents were able to afford getting me $1 CDs back when I didn't have a job yet in early high school.
Nice video concept. Good for variety and digging around in your collection with a theme in mind.
Thanks Peter. Glad you enjoyed it. I've got some good ones for this Sunday. Should be interesting. Cheers, Darryl.
Nice to see someone else mention Bruce Cockburn! I have his entire discography and I have seen him many many times 🙂I think I used to have that K-Tel comp...
Thanks Brian, I recently just got into Cockburn. My favorite track by him is Lovers in A Dangerous Time. If I see that album, I'm gonna grab it. Cheers, Darryl.
I need to buy you some 80s country albums! Im sure you would love a little reba in your collection 😁
I wouldn't be opposed to that...
Love the Never Ending Story. Held a couple of comps not unlike that K-tel one, but Norwegian, in my hands at the record fair yesterday 😄
I know many people have an issue with the compilations or greatest hits albums. I think they're great as you get a variety of listening experience. What are your thoughts on the Norwegian ones you had as a kid? Decent music?
@@northernvinylguy I don’t remember them that well. We had some Eurovision song contest comps and Spellemannsprisen (Norwegian «grammies»). Stuff like that.
i'm more interested in 5 star albums , 4 star albums not just a certain category I guess you can say some soundtracks are great and are in that category
