I enjoyed this quest a lot, but yeah they really need a new voice director or a new team in general for the English voice management. The voice actors themselves are really good IMO but there's so many mistakes in this one quest. They need to get it together.
Maybe they already make the current quest story with the same voice director, lets hope that we can see the change in future quest in general, since we already got the devs note saying they're working on it

😮💨 the father character here actually pronouncing the little girl’s name right and correctly. Matter of fact, it is Yinlin’s voice actor who actually got it wrong😅. And that was the cringe part to me when playing Yinlin’ story quest.
The pronunciation of Yuanyuan is more like "yuen-yuen" (or "wen-wen" but with a Y sound before each W). It seems like the VAs didn't get enough direction for how to pronounce it (i.e. not enough takes?), so it kinda sounds like they went off how they heard the name the first time, which resulted in vastly different pronunciations between Lirong (which is kinda just "lee-rong" not "luh-rong") and Yinlin. Hope they give the VAs enough time to record these, cuz honestly the dub isn't even that bad (and stick to their British accents? I think Yinlin's voices Arcana in Re1999 and she does an amazing job there)
@@CampaignerSC Given their Chinese origin they'd very likely first default with Kanji onyomi otherwise kunyomi. But then not all Chinese words necessarily have a Kanji equivalent.
This is actually my favorite companion quest so far. A bit rush toward the end, but they managed to wrap up her day-to-day job, her character and her past in a single package pretty decently. There's also a unique (I think) ost for dialogue scene in the quest to establish more serious tone as well.
As an example of a digital AI personality of another person, like all the holographic AIS like Cortana from Halo pretty much all their AIS are based off of actual people's minds but over time they tend to degrade and start going crazy.

The British accent comes in every now and then, they sound like they didn’t have any direction in how to say things, and sounds robotic. Not to mention the weird audio quality. I hate the fake positivity everyone has with the English dubs. The English dub is terrible.
Personally I think the second part of the quest feel a bit rushed. I loved the send code minigame, but all about the poison and the kid's drawing felt weird and was never mentioned again (in fact they never talk about an antidote or anything.) I felt the story would have been better if after Yinlin capture us she take us to the basement.

Before watching the video, I'm gonna leave my own impressions here and see how they measure up: The story started out interesting enough, even got me a little emotional about the dolls... Then it went downhill fast with the double/triple/quadruple-cross where even the characters involved didn't seem to understand what side they're supposed to be on. Not to mention having inconsistencies in what's 2 hours of story at most. I found myself skipping through dialogue towards the end, because it lost all coherency (as opposed to a certain other game where I usually skip the beginning until the pace picks up).
I really hated that MC is betrayed, poisoned, betrayed again but we are still listen and helping like a servant and later be so friendly like nothing happened at all.
same, the part about the doll maker erasing her records as a patrol officer was fucking stupid too. Like bro thinks he's irminsul, wouldnt her colleages still know her, she has a boss righ? it made no sense and rover could at least vouch for her. And fucking Chixia has a voice line for yinlin about how she looks up to her BUT SHE DOESNT EVEN KNOW HER IN THE QUEST.
Yeah, exactly this. Jiyan story quest was the only one making sense most of the time since there really wasn't much to fuck up. Seems like Kuro really sucks at writing more complex stories.
I hate how Rover is portrayed as an obedient dog boy/girl who still acts oblivious after getting betrayed by her I'm just confused how Rover can just set that aside so quickly.

I think the reason why I liked it so much is because I felt like a breath of fresh air after the companion quests for Genshin. Both Yinlin's and Jiyan's were amazing. I hope they keep this quality for the rest of them. Hell even Lingyang's was better than the last ones I've done in Genshin.
Am I the only one who thinks that everything Yinlin did was just an act? Yinlin's mission was clear, but her motives are still off. Yes, that could be her diary but it could also be somebody else's and since we already know about it before she burns it, she just played along with what the diary tells. I mean I might be stretching the story too wide, more probably when she stretches her legs when she goes down for a plunge attack, but that's honestly the vibes that I get. Note: It would have been better if Dollmaker had so many puppets lined up to attack us (like a Theatre of Domination kind of thing From Honkai Impact 3rd, I brought this up because this was Hoyoverse Peak Story part 1) before the final bout with the Mech Abomination. Because it really felt off when after that cutscene we just transitioned to Mech Abomination, who I already killed 10* over and over again.

I really liked this quest cause it really shows the reality of this world. People are so desperate enough to willingly have a doll to replace a loved one. I honestly think it's quite a refreshing concept. I do agree that the doll maker as a whole character wasn't that great of a villain. They could've touched more into his character backstory. I do like how Yinlin herself isn't a bad or good guy, more of a lone wolf character, which I quite like. I know a lot of people didn’t like Rover in this quest, but like they literally got spawned in this world with no memories. People say he's too naive, but what else are you supposed to do? Rover barely knows about their own power. They could literally accidentally blow up the city and have 0 idea how.
Kuro will going to more serious story-telling but they will have few light moment. That how PGR story goes. It will make you remember when the last time our character smile or laugh which is will be impactful in the future story telling.
This story quest made me appreciate Genshin's story quets 10x more, holy fuck what a shitshow of a quest. I've ranted about it tons of times to friends already, but this quest genuinely feels like a checklist for an ad for Yinlin. What about all the plotholes the quest had: How does deleting her records affect her police life? How does the guy have enough access to delete her records when she's the plant? He shouldn't have anymore access than she does, no? Any explanation as to how can she borderline mind-control people with the doll? Lil bro calls himself the DOLLMASTER and he taught Yinlin all she knows, yet somehow he never learned how to have dolls of his own? I seriously thought we were in for an epic boss fight, disappointment. And this isn't adressing the bugs like wrong voice lines. 3/10 absolutely godawful quest which only becomes minimally edible with Bran's image on the screen.
Idk I find them on equal footing (While there are still issues I don' think its worse or better than genshins), at least so far both companion quests do focus on the actual character more, genshins while technically "better" still suffers from yap fest into yap fest with NPCs that are ugly as fuck taking the spotlight over the actual important characters, being sometimes waaaaay to long for thier own good and presenting the story in the most boring way possible that being endless dialogue turning the game into a textbook simulator. Also yes the EN voice acting is dog shit most of the time for wuwa but genshin voice actors are for some reason told to speak in the slowest way possible which irritates me so much cause by the time they are a couple of words in I'm already done reading most of the paragraph.
@@BlazeSwigglePlayzMc All of your issues are subjective. Yap fest is true for all of these games because all of them are story games which sell you characters, so obviously a story is always inbound. NPCs being ugly as fuck is true here as well, with the only difference being that you've seen the Genshin NPCs for 4+ years. Wait a few months and you'll feel the exact same about Wuwa. This is an objectively shit quest, with tons of glaring plotholes that get exposed at a very basic, surface level and for something that's meant to "take you through the life of the character", you finish it not knowing anything. If you don't like GI quests that's on you. Pretty much all of those complains apply to Wuwa though.
"How does deleting her records affect her police life?" Well, Yinlin is an undercover agent/spy, she's expert at disguise herself taking another persona. And it is implied in the story that Yinlin is (or was) a double agent, working for Dollmaker and Patroller. My guess her identity recorded in Patroller database was one of her many persona, not the real one, so if it got deleted, meaning Yinlin's true persona can't be recognized by the system if she decided to return... it was proven by how Chixia not recognizing Yinlin true persona. Then how dollmaker have access? That's still unclear to me as well, maybe he got it from fractsidus? Or since he was the one ordered Yinlin to infiltrate Patroller, he also have access to control her profile in it... I mean, the tech in Wuwa is shown a bit advanced than ours. Where it's mentioned Yinlin able to mind control people? To control a doll, yes she has that ability, but to mind control people... nah, she even said to make the doll look alive, she needs memories of a deceased person and closer kin of said persons need to "feed" the doll with their resonance power, and if overdone, they can go overclock. Dollmaker forte or power is afaik to implement one's memories (basically one's brain) into the doll, practically make them look alive... so yeah, he can't make his own doll witnout other people memories... that's why he want rover's memories (or brain) to turn rover into doll then he can experiment on rover's body and in the process lure fractsidus in since they also take interest in rover's body. Well at least those how I understand the story, feel free to add or fix if there's wrong in it
Well, to trick your foes, you must first trick your allies... Rover is needed so that the Dollmaker open his door, and Yinlin needed Dollmaker trusted her for him doing so.

I remember this happened not exactly as this, but i watched it somewhere, yt i guess. A mother lost his daughter and this company made an AI that look, act, and voice like her daughter and then, they talked. It is the most saddest scene but, at the same time it is scary. 😅
what you just said reminded me of a pumpkin head horror visual novel. The narrator is the sister(or brother, this is literally years ago) of a boy of died a tragic death, but the mom couldn't let go and went insane putting a pumpkin on his head and using a wheel chair to transport the rotting corpse and have him do "young boy" things. It was quite horrifying cuz when the husband or sister tried to help her or speak up about the situation. just looked up the game, its on steam, 2021, its called pumpkin eater if you have any interest.
I have completely different experience playing this story especially when i am playong with Japanese voice. The english i hear here just give off totally different vibe when yinlin first come into scene. The Japanese va make a good job to show the seductive yet cunning nature of her character, like a russian spy in a movie yet bearing a tragic backstory easily sympathetic with her to see her as a human than just a visually appealing character
I generally really loved the story! Like much of the rest of the game the EN voice over needs better direction but it wasnt terrible and the story itself was great! (Maybe a bit rushed in the final act but not to badly.)

It's kinda baffle me seeing many dislike the story just because they can't interpret or misinterpret the whole story's theme in it. Though there are more need to be improved in the story obviously, at least this companion story much more enjoyable than those in genshin whose companion story barely focus on the featured companion... I mean in genshin's companion storty, we learn more about the npcs we help instead the said companion.
Exactly! The concept in this quest is so heavy tbh. I like how Kuro put morality concern into a game, companion quest with plot, not just a bland hanging out/otome/dating quest with your fav char. Just like you said, people can't think that deep into the theme of the quest. All they want is spending time with their waifu/husbando.

The early parts of this game definitely felt rushed since they decided to change almost everything last min and release it this early. I do hope they take their time with future stories
The thing is this type of Technology actually is possible but to be clear it's pretty much a digital copy of someone's memories and personality it's not the original cuz I heard about it I think a couple years back of a scientist a female one putting her husband's mind into a laptop and it worked it had all his memories and personality was pretty much a perfect copy it's still experimental and for me that was like 10 years ago or further back.
I think it is just me but as for the current English cast right now didn’t give much immersion for me to enjoy the story (I know Kuro have a rough start). I played through the story with Japanese VA for the sake of story quest.
I'm glad i didn't play this quest and others on EN voiceovers. The way they said his daughter's name annoyed me, and some of the character voices sounds very rushed and awkward... I played the quest in CN voiceovers and Yinlin was very lovely...
we play the story at the same pace hahahaha, I'm enjoying the story due to the npc diversity though I suggest using a different voice, it's more immersive as I find the eng. voice sounding dull and lacking, but again this is just my opinion.

Not gonna lie, I hated YinLin from the very beginning. I don't know why but it made doing her quest quite unbearable for me. Also with the pronunciation of Chinese names in Eng Dub is a bit off as well.

Really hope that the fracsidus plays a huge role in setting the rover's ideals and goals. Would be great if we become somewhat of an anti hero instead of going to every nation to save them lol. if u dive deep to the lore , actually rover might follow Scar in the future , not 100% but let wait for the future story , Doktah past also take time to revealed too . There a lot of foreshadowing that Rover will be on evil side .

I don't understand why many people say this quest is boring. It's so far very interesting from a philosophical standpoint. Im taking Philosophy in University rn, so this concept is intriguing, and Kuro nailed it! 🫶 People who don't like this quest, I guess they are used to the typical Shounen/Power Fantasy trope, or the Otome/romance/bonding hang out with their favourite character, but not this kind of moral/ethical approach. I really liked this quest cause it really shows the reality of this world. People are so desperate enough to willingly have a doll to replace a loved one. I honestly think it's quite a refreshing concept. I do agree that the doll maker as a whole character wasn't that great of a villain. They could've touched more into his character backstory. I do like how Yinlin herself isn't a bad or good guy, more of a lone wolf character, which I quite like. I know a lot of people didn’t like Rover in this quest, but like they literally got spawned in this world with no memories. People say he's too naive, but what else are you supposed to do? Rover barely knows about their own power. They could literally accidentally blow up the city and have 0 idea how.
Rover being serious all the time make me appreciate paimon and trailblazer comic relief

There's a time and situation for everything mason. On the main story quest we've been joking with the trio a lot
trailblazer comic relief off me from HSR... they make MC as comic... wtf.
Kuro will going to more serious story-telling but they will have few light moment. That how PGR story goes. It will make you remember when the last time our character smile or laugh which is will be impactful in the future story telling.
This story quest made me appreciate Genshin's story quets 10x more, holy fuck what a shitshow of a quest.
I've ranted about it tons of times to friends already, but this quest genuinely feels like a checklist for an ad for Yinlin.
What about all the plotholes the quest had:
How does deleting her records affect her police life?
How does the guy have enough access to delete her records when she's the plant? He shouldn't have anymore access than she does, no?
Any explanation as to how can she borderline mind-control people with the doll?
Lil bro calls himself the DOLLMASTER and he taught Yinlin all she knows, yet somehow he never learned how to have dolls of his own? I seriously thought we were in for an epic boss fight, disappointment.
And this isn't adressing the bugs like wrong voice lines.
3/10 absolutely godawful quest which only becomes minimally edible with Bran's image on the screen.

Idk I find them on equal footing (While there are still issues I don' think its worse or better than genshins), at least so far both companion quests do focus on the actual character more, genshins while technically "better" still suffers from yap fest into yap fest with NPCs that are ugly as fuck taking the spotlight over the actual important characters, being sometimes waaaaay to long for thier own good and presenting the story in the most boring way possible that being endless dialogue turning the game into a textbook simulator. Also yes the EN voice acting is dog shit most of the time for wuwa but genshin voice actors are for some reason told to speak in the slowest way possible which irritates me so much cause by the time they are a couple of words in I'm already done reading most of the paragraph.

@@BlazeSwigglePlayzMc All of your issues are subjective. Yap fest is true for all of these games because all of them are story games which sell you characters, so obviously a story is always inbound. NPCs being ugly as fuck is true here as well, with the only difference being that you've seen the Genshin NPCs for 4+ years. Wait a few months and you'll feel the exact same about Wuwa.
This is an objectively shit quest, with tons of glaring plotholes that get exposed at a very basic, surface level and for something that's meant to "take you through the life of the character", you finish it not knowing anything.
If you don't like GI quests that's on you. Pretty much all of those complains apply to Wuwa though.

Well, Yinlin is an undercover agent/spy, she's expert at disguise herself taking another persona. And it is implied in the story that Yinlin is (or was) a double agent, working for Dollmaker and Patroller. My guess her identity recorded in Patroller database was one of her many persona, not the real one, so if it got deleted, meaning Yinlin's true persona can't be recognized by the system if she decided to return... it was proven by how Chixia not recognizing Yinlin true persona.
Then how dollmaker have access? That's still unclear to me as well, maybe he got it from fractsidus? Or since he was the one ordered Yinlin to infiltrate Patroller, he also have access to control her profile in it... I mean, the tech in Wuwa is shown a bit advanced than ours.
Where it's mentioned Yinlin able to mind control people? To control a doll, yes she has that ability, but to mind control people... nah, she even said to make the doll look alive, she needs memories of a deceased person and closer kin of said persons need to "feed" the doll with their resonance power, and if overdone, they can go overclock.
Dollmaker forte or power is afaik to implement one's memories (basically one's brain) into the doll, practically make them look alive... so yeah, he can't make his own doll witnout other people memories... that's why he want rover's memories (or brain) to turn rover into doll then he can experiment on rover's body and in the process lure fractsidus in since they also take interest in rover's body.
Well at least those how I understand the story, feel free to add or fix if there's wrong in it

Well, to trick your foes, you must first trick your allies... Rover is needed so that the Dollmaker open his door, and Yinlin needed Dollmaker trusted her for him doing so.

A mother lost his daughter and this company made an AI that look, act, and voice like her daughter and then, they talked. It is the most saddest scene but, at the same time it is scary.

what you just said reminded me of a pumpkin head horror visual novel. The narrator is the sister(or brother, this is literally years ago) of a boy of died a tragic death, but the mom couldn't let go and went insane putting a pumpkin on his head and using a wheel chair to transport the rotting corpse and have him do "young boy" things. It was quite horrifying cuz when the husband or sister tried to help her or speak up about the situation. just looked up the game, its on steam, 2021, its called pumpkin eater if you have any interest.

I have completely different experience playing this story especially when i am playong with Japanese voice. The english i hear here just give off totally different vibe when yinlin first come into scene. The Japanese va make a good job to show the seductive yet cunning nature of her character, like a russian spy in a movie yet bearing a tragic backstory easily sympathetic with her to see her as a human than just a visually appealing character
Same with Chinese dub! Her voice was much more seductive and cunning as well
I generally really loved the story! Like much of the rest of the game the EN voice over needs better direction but it wasnt terrible and the story itself was great! (Maybe a bit rushed in the final act but not to badly.)

It's kinda baffle me seeing many dislike the story just because they can't interpret or misinterpret the whole story's theme in it. Though there are more need to be improved in the story obviously, at least this companion story much more enjoyable than those in genshin whose companion story barely focus on the featured companion... I mean in genshin's companion storty, we learn more about the npcs we help instead the said companion.
Exactly! The concept in this quest is so heavy tbh. I like how Kuro put morality concern into a game, companion quest with plot, not just a bland hanging out/otome/dating quest with your fav char. Just like you said, people can't think that deep into the theme of the quest. All they want is spending time with their waifu/husbando.
They can definitely write a good story if they try I'm sure the writing will just keep getting better with time it gets me exited for the future

The early parts of this game definitely felt rushed since they decided to change almost everything last min and release it this early. I do hope they take their time with future stories
The thing is this type of Technology actually is possible but to be clear it's pretty much a digital copy of someone's memories and personality it's not the original cuz I heard about it I think a couple years back of a scientist a female one putting her husband's mind into a laptop and it worked it had all his memories and personality was pretty much a perfect copy it's still experimental and for me that was like 10 years ago or further back.

I really liked this, lots of MC and character involvement , they just need to fix voice acting and pace it a bit better .
I think it is just me but as for the current English cast right now didn’t give much immersion for me to enjoy the story (I know Kuro have a rough start). I played through the story with Japanese VA for the sake of story quest.
I'm glad i didn't play this quest and others on EN voiceovers. The way they said his daughter's name annoyed me, and some of the character voices sounds very rushed and awkward...
I played the quest in CN voiceovers and Yinlin was very lovely...
we play the story at the same pace hahahaha, I'm enjoying the story due to the npc diversity though I suggest using a different voice, it's more immersive as I find the eng. voice sounding dull and lacking, but again this is just my opinion.
tbh, Althougth this quest is kinda boring and somewhat generic, rover stands out really good

I played in English and Japanese and the story comes off very different depending on what the dub is. The story is more believable in JP.

I didn’t say that the story was magically better in Japanese. I said the JP Voice acting is better than the ENG which makes scenes less cringe.
Not gonna lie, I hated YinLin from the very beginning. I don't know why but it made doing her quest quite unbearable for me. Also with the pronunciation of Chinese names in Eng Dub is a bit off as well.
The story needs a lot of refining but the animations were nice 👍
I said it before i said it again. I really wished they didn't ditch the concept of rover being a threat to them like in cbt1. Really hope that the fracsidus plays a huge role in setting the rover's ideals and goals. Would be great if we become somewhat of an anti hero instead of going to every nation to save them lol. Its far different from the commandant in pgr being humanity's hero bcs the post apocalyptic setting there is much darker.
I mean look at arknights. The MC lost their memories, same cliche stuff but then in lore we found out we literally started the whole catastrophe and did some f up shi💀
if u dive deep to the lore , actually rover might follow Scar in the future , not 100% but let wait for the future story , Doktah past also take time to revealed too . There a lot of foreshadowing that Rover will be on evil side .
they can make that path but of course CN won't love it that why they change it. Still it was quite dark but been tone down a bit.

I don't understand why many people say this quest is boring. It's so far very interesting from a philosophical standpoint. Im taking Philosophy in University rn, so this concept is intriguing, and Kuro nailed it! 🫶 People who don't like this quest, I guess they are used to the typical Shounen/Power Fantasy trope, or the Otome/romance/bonding hang out with their favourite character, but not this kind of moral/ethical approach. The story is good, the engagement is meh. Like you only feel engaged in the cutscenes for the most part. I guess kuro is just really new to the open world concept. Pgr story has been amazing but its more of a virtual novel concept.
