Exactly why I pointed it out at the beginning. They used to have a tiered fee structure but now a flat 10%. So something to consider. But if it means getting your product out there instead of worrying about setting up a platform and tech, then it's worth it in my opinion.
@@AureliusTjin. I appreciate the comment, but there is still the problem of the 10%. If you take into account taxes such as income, state, federal, etc., retirement savings, healthcare, education such as online courses, school loans, etc., crazy high rent or mortgages, just to say the least, 10% is quite high. It's higher than sales tax in most states and the 10% does not include credit card processing fees or pay pal feels. Even if you use it to get started and are successful, then you have to figure out how to untie your business and customers from a platform without hindering CX all while having to juggling other aspects of life and business obligations. It's a lot better to do research and find other ways to get started because small percentages adds up quickly.
Yes, good point. I explained this at 22:08 - Gumroad Discover marketplace. It's always wise to build an audience. Making sales isn't guaranteed just because you've created a product and put it up on Gumroad.
@@danijelastrauss7069 Wrong. You don't need to bring traffic to Etsy. You don't need to bring traffic to Airbnb either which allows you to list your business/services as an experience. I can make $3000+ in a month on Airbnb doing absolutely no marketing. Sadly for everyone else, they're no longer accepting any new businesses but I have 4 listings in 2 different countries. Etsy is the best platform for selling any digital products. I sell my prints on etsy and have them printed by local print shops in whatever country they're sold. Another $1000 per month I spend my time traveling the world and photographing it to sell my prints plus offereing my photography services via Airbnb and have zero social media. Platforms like Gumroad is a waste of time.
If we want to sell digital goods outside of US, how does the taxation work in that case? Does Gumroad require some tax documentation from our country even if we don't have a company on our name?
what about tax which seems to be the most intimidating part of it all. it says "Gumroad is registered as a marketplace facilitator and is required to collect and remit sales taxes on eligible sales to buyers in the followings states..." and theres a brief part of the video where you show "apply sales tax in..." do you have to put the states that it list gumroad as being required to collect sales tax in there?
hello.. I have published my first digital product on gumroad but in the status of my digital product is shown UNLISTED what should i do to get my product listed or should i wait for few days.?
hii. how to connect with paypal account? are paypal account must to connect with credit card? bcoz button "connect with paypal" in gumroad cannot click after i fill the information about paypal account.
Very useful tutorial. Thanks. But there is a huge gap after you set the storefront up and say you are going to make some improvements. It never appears again, and I can't find it anywhere in my Gumroad with 1 product. Any clues would be welcome.
After watching this valuable tutorial by Aurelius and being a user of Payhip myself, I find that Gumroad offers so much more than what Payhip does. In some ways Payhip has a very limited range of features as compared to Gumroad. Be as it may, each one to his/her own. ❤😊
Not sure why you would want to do that? It's either one or the other. Having your products on both platforms has no benefits. You'd rather consolidate and have everything on one platform.
They provide basic store pages. Usually people who use Gumroad already have an existing audience so they're already warmed up. Your copy is what matters at the end of the day. If you're looking for something more flexible, there are plenty of landing page builders.

13% is quite high when taking other business expenses such as tax, retirement, etc.

Gumroad doesn't have active customers, you have to bring your own traffic there, so expect marketing costs or building an audience first

Payhip's still a great choice. Lower fees, better store builder. Check out my video comparing the two: th-cam.com/video/NRz6Zym44GQ/w-d-xo.html
