Bolbitis Heteroclita 'Difformis'
It’s a great scape. Playing off the dark colors you have, I’d go bright with the inhabitants. Yellow cherry shrimp, green neons, and white ricefish would look killer!!
Great suggestions!
Very nice!
Thanks!
Amazing looking aquascape & tank wow! And such great info on the plants you used. Anubias Dragon Claw- must have!!!
I think so too!
That’s mini bucephalandra is looking gorgeous definitely will be in my new setup ❤
I love it so far!
Happy new year btw! Great looking scape, and loving the plant choice. Not sure about the bolbitis, but interesting to see how it pans out.
Happy new year!
Epic hardscape and plant selection! I really do enjoy your channel and I appreciate the quality you bring with your videos. Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks for the feedback!
First comment! Beautiful! If me, I'll go with only bloody Mary shrimps or green neon tetra. It also great with bettas
Awesome suggestions! A Betta is tempting
Super présentation
Thanks!
Love the hardscape! Red Sakura Shrimps and Celestial Pearl Danios would look great in this tank
That would be cool!
Great composition. Can't wait to see how this matures. On the proper terminology for these plants you want to use "Rheophytes"... which is for plants that use their roots to hold on in fast moving streams. They can be under or above water, since water levels go up & down with the seasons. "Epiphytes" are plants that grow in the air that use their roots to hold to trees & cliff sides. Sad to see they are still selling the Bolbitis Difformis species as an aquatic. I don't like plant pimps that sell species in a deceiving way just to make a buck. B. difformis only tolerates submersion and that is all. It's true zone of growing is called "riparian". Much like a number of Anubias varieties, they likes their feet wet but will rot and die from drowning under permanent submersion. In their home habitats the land floods temporarily, this is why they can tolerate short periods only. They are dense skinned and slow growers, which only gives the illusion they are alive. If i were you, i'd take them out and plant them in a terrarium where they belong. Plant Bolbitis Heudelotii (African Water Fern) instead. {In vitro grown plants are much smaller so they may match better to B.D,}
Great info! I've actually already removed the bolbitis and have replaced with Hygrophila pinnitifida. You'll see this in the next update vid
A small species of rasbora would look sick in that tank. Celestial pearl danios, chili rasboras or something of the sort? And also just plain red cherry shrimp would look cool.
Ditto on the great quality of your videos which get better and better. Seeing a nice looking AIO started, and now planted is super informative and helpful. Color and clarity of your video is excellent. What is the dark strip below the outlet nozzle? or is that just a shadow? And, are you still totally happy with this AIO tank, any negatives? Thanks!
Thank you! Just a shadow below the nozzle. And absolutely I'm very happy with it. To be quite honest I'm surprised to say there aren't really any negatives. The chambers are large enough for lots of filtration customization. The pump is pretty dang strong and silent. Only negative I can think of is lack of instructions on proper optimized use of the filtration system, but it's relatively easy to figure out.
Thanks so much....one more if you have time....are you topping it up alot....you have to be careful about that, right? @@LoganRandoAquascaping
Just when I do water changes which is twice a week. I top off via the right back chamber with the outflow.
Hardscape looked super good, the little roots down to the substrate was top notch. Dwarf Pygmy Rasbora and Pygmy Cory Combo would be super cool, or the Bumble Bee Goby is a sweet little option... not sure how they'd with shrimp tho.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Great scape, love the plant selection as well! Would you recommended a dark start for a new aquascape even though only a sand substrate is being used?
Sure, still helps build up bacteria before you plant and minimize melt risk
@@LoganRandoAquascaping gotcha! Thank you!
betta should be nice or ember tetra, nice video now keen on playing epiphite plnts
Epiphytes are awesome!
bloody mery shrimp and alien betta :)
Try Scarlet Badis!
Great suggestion!
I have an odd question.....I'm about to plant a 10 gallon tank after a 4 week dark start. I've started to wonder if my other (empty) 10 gallon tank of a little different shape might be better to use for a few reasons. If I carefully move the substrate and hardscape to the other tank would that negate all the prep of the dark start/ie mess with the beneficial bacteria/be a really bad idea? Thank you for entertaining this question :)
You can if you do it in a single day over the course of no more than a few hours. The bulk of your bacteria is stored in your filter so as long as they're kept alive you can transfer to new glass
I'm planning to follow your dark start method for the first time but am used to planting 'dry', Did you find the epiphytic plants glued nice and securely even tho the wood was damp? Would you use this method in future/benefits were worth the wait? Thank you.
Definitely drain the tank way down when you plant, but the damp wood will actually help with cyanoacrylate based glue. Just press and hold for an extended time like I did and you'll have no prob. I would use it again. I like living with the submerged hardscape as my plant orders are usually a few weeks post hardscaping, so might as well build up beneficial bacteria in the meantime. It's not absolutely necessary though and in my experience, you can still get very bad diatoms and melt despite dark starting. Hope that helps!
Thanks!
albino cherry barb
Has to be Chili rasboras!
I agree!
Update?
Coming soon!
chili rasboras !
I agree!
Ember tetras
Chili rasboras
Love Chilis!
Dont you literally own buceplant? Lol
I do not own Buce Plant. They're a company. They support my Logan Rando Aquascaping channel and I create original content for their Buce Plant channel.
