You are all wrong xd, 85 firefighters responded to the incident in Chernobyl in 19 different trucks, out of this 27 of them died of ARS, and a further 7 died of radiation related illness bringing the total death to 34. 51, survived, though many are dead of natural causes now. If you want a full list of the firefighters who died feel free to ask.
The radiation wasn’t that high to kill them when they leave the truck, a lethal dose is around 5 sieverts and if you have seen the miniseries the full dosage the firefighter who we watched for the rest of the show had about 8.
It wouldn’t have been enough right out of the truck. More so terrible burns with a couple weeks recovery. A good few survived 2-10 years; and there’s one alive today I believe.But it was mostly luck, like the guy who drove the fire truck. 90% of them likely died after 1-2 minutes in the fallout.

Once again, this was right after the accident. If that was really melted fuel, it would have been glowing, bubbling and boiling, and the player would instantly Enter the death stage of radiation. They would have most likely thrown up, and passed out. (And soon, die.) What is really seen here are rubble and pieces of building structure; perhaps even graphite, wich would at this time, be "death itself."
The demo is great unfortunately it’s plagued with performance issues my computer is well above the specs but at points it stutters etc. The developers are very vocal regarding feedback so if stuff is out of place If you find proof of what should be there they’ll replace it with something of the time period.
This is a type of game that would benefit insanely from adding more particle effects and more detail into environment (or maybe new textures) to really kick it up a notch in the atmosphere department. Smoke is decent but making it thicker or maybe coding it with some AI would add to replayability, since it looks like it has none

To have 17 sieverts, you must have 1822 roentgen, this is much lower than the actual dose received. It would be closer over 20 sieverts. You would only live about a week and die painfully. The only person who has received 17 sieverts IRL had the highest dose ever recorded
First of all, sieverts to roentgen is tricky as they mean different things so in radiation dosage we tend to just round things so for simplicity sake 1 sievert = 100rads which =100 roentgen which equals 1 Gray. The most radiation received by anyone is a man named pearson who received a full body dose of 88 Sieverts or 8800rads, he died on 2 days after exposure, I know the guy who you are talking about Hisashi Ouchi, but the case of most radioactive man alive is false, for two reasons firstly people exposed to radiation after decontamination are not radioactive and secondly he didn’t receive the most radiation in the world anyway. Several people have received more, Cecil for example received around 64sieverts. And several people at Chernobyl received more radiation than Hisashi Ouchi many firefighters did, Tishura received 18 Sieverts or 1800 rads, Akimov received an estimated 19 Sieverts. Someone who picked up two pieces of uranium fuel pellets received around 21 sieverts, and sitnitkov received almost 27 sieverts. This firefighter is based off of a real one as well, though not much is known about late responders, as this one is but doing the math he received around 37 sieverts.
It represents two things. First and foremost, it represents your stamina. Your max stamina is decreased when wearing a mask, but the mask lowers fire damage. Second, radiation will lower your stamina. Once the blue bar is empty, your red health bar will start to go down.
My only real criticism thus far is the ignorance about the nature of the fire among the firefighters. The firefighters almost immediately knew it was gushing radiation when they arrived. There was no mystery about it for them.
They had no idea xd, they didn’t know about radiation at all because none of them knew the core exploded, hence why they were casually picking up lumps of graphite and even 1 picked up uranium fuel pellets.
The first responders weren't informed of what actually happened. They were just notified that a fire broke out in the plant. They began digging through the wreckage looking for survivors. Using shovels and even their hands to move radioactive metal

Shame that the game has this water tank system, rather than actual hoses. Makes it feel very arcade-y, and I was really looking forward to a realistic representation.

Poland was apart of the USSR at the time, and this was in Ukraine, so it was probably Ukrainian equipment. Most USSR countries shared everything though.
