I needed to watch this review after I’ve been hearing complaints from tech bloggers over low light shots from the Z2 being too dark. Well, I’m not disappointed. Great review and the shots actually look alright to me on my iPad. It’s not the best camera and I don’t know if it’s an upgrade from the 2016 Moto Z, but it does look to be a capable shooter, but one for $720?

Those daylight photos are quite pretty. Motorola is visibly improving in terms of camera performance. Wish they'd release a regular Moto Z2 with the exact same specs and camera, just with Gorilla Glass instead of Shatter shield. Would buy.
I currently own the Z-Force (1) in the UK. It was the only phone with a 21mpx sensor with reasonable low light performance, so I ordered it from the US. I was not disappointed! Low light performance is pretty good for a mobile phone. And I take *a lot* of low light shots! Yes, you have to steady the phone, to allow it to take a second exposure to subtract the noise, but even with that the results are almost always very good. The pictures show a lot of 'grain', but that's exactly how the old analogue 35mm film used to work. It's not unpleasant to look at. Because of the 21mpx, pictures capture a lot of detail in good light. I suspect it will be a couple of years before phone manufacturers will start to re-visit larger resolution sensors. Let's hope the new phone from Red will live up to the hype!

Camera, between the three is different, iPhone good point and shoot, v20 wide angle is great, but the Moto z2f has the black and white and a few other tricks as mentioned on the review. I'm happy with it and I'm sure in a few months Moto z2f will have a price reduction to say $600 and that's going to be a great price. I got the free speaker and projector Moto mod and for me it made phone worth buying.

Hmmm.... I love the Moto Z line and I was thinking about upgrading but the lack of battery life and the less-than-expected camera improvements over previous Z phones aren't enough for me. I think I'll go with the S8 Active. It's camera is just tops, even if you do have to put up with all the Samsung bloat.
Shots look the same as the last year's Moto Z - a bit darker than I wish in most situations and the ommision of OIS is definitely not compensated by the second sensor which proves to be rather useless.
I have a question. I used to have a Droid Turbo (the first one) and it says that the camera is 21 megapixels. However, I got a Z2 Force and it says the camera is 12. The Z2 however looks better in terms of quality, are megapixels no longer the general way of defining what constitutes a good camera/picture?
Overall sensor size matters more than pixel count alone. A half inch sensor can be packed with 21 pixels on its surface area. But a 1 inch sensor with 10-12 large pixels using up surface area would a be better than the 1/2 inch sensor with a larger pixel count.
can we take pure Black and White Images only direct from Monoxhrome sensor ? Also can we do black and white videos directly like the Coolpad Play 6 ? Please reply !
(Sorry for my bad english) I never more buy Motorola devices because of the camera again! I learned that there is no good use of the camera sensor if its software is "pure" or Android standard. I noticed that other brands that do not have pure Android do better in photos because they can work freely on camera software especially if it has a oppened API layer for modifications! The Zenfone 3 Zoom features the same sensor as a G5 Plus, and the photos look better on Zenfone. Zenfone can do more than 30 seconds of long exposure while the G5P does not get 1 second! Ridiculous! The line "Z" should be better in this respect! The motorola has evolved quite a lot from its generation 3 cameras to 4 and 5. But there is still a lot to get to the level of a LG / Samsung / Sony / Huawei Mate ...
I had this phone and didn't realize how cool it was until last week lol and I've had it for like 9 months lol... but I'm getting to making music videos for myself and it's good enough for that.. lie budget of course. But it will give a decent visual for potential fans
Honestly bro. I try to take pics at lowlight and it's so trash. Also there is absolutely no control when you are a little shaky. If you shake your hands a tiny bit when taking a pic. Everything is blurry. I might have gotten a bad device but honestly the camera is only good outside at high light. Honestly Idk how you have such good night pics. Is there like a setting you got? My shit is grainy at night

I have not seen a single reason to buy this phone over last year's moto phone. The camera's on this phone are some of the worst of 2017, the headphone jack is still missing, the battery is way below what it should be, and the price is higher than before.
lmao those low light shots look garbage tier. Competition is very high now and any flagship can do well on normal light conditions. Is in low light shots where the champs are made, and this phone fails miserably at that
