This car was such a pleasant surprise for me. It feels great to drive and to be driven in. I somehow feel like the Korean cars are getting so much better to live with than Japanese cars.

Maybe it's because the Tucson lacks desirability and can't keep up with the Europeans when it comes to some aspects. In terms of clever practically features a Skoda Karoq is far superior and when it comes to design a Peugeot 3008 eats it for breakfast. Matt is simply showing his personal opinion, the fact that you don't agree with him doesn't mean that he is a bad journalist. In my personal opinion lack of desirability is actually a pretty big problem for Hyundai's entire range.
Fun fact though, is that Hyundais are both designed and built in europe now. Someone should let Mat know, he might start recommending them. Not everyone can afford the new bmws.
He's a very entertaining reviewer but he never gives good reviews to Korean or Japanese cars. It's a fact. They can be the best cars out there but they will barely get to a shortlist. I usually agree with Mat's verdict on most cars but having driven a Peugeot 3008 GT Line Premium and Tucson Premium SE extensively there is no way a 3008 is a 'Buy' and this is just a 'Consider'. Firstly to get similar trim levels at the top of the range you are paying ~£3500 more for the 3008 at RRP. I can't fault the Tucson much at all but there are things I just hate about the 3008, namely the steering wheel (it's simply uncomfortable to hold and use in my opinion), climate controls in infotainment are annoying, the 360 camera is a fake (no actual cameras on side mirrors) and it turns off all the time when you need it most while parking, then you need to reopen it in the infotainment vs an easy to access hard button in the Tucson. The lane keep assist in the Tucson is amazing while in the 3008 it only works if you are departing the lane, and even then it can't see the lanes a lot of the time. The cruise control controls are also in a terrible position in the 3008 (you need to memorize the buttons because you simply can't see them while driving). Good thing about the center screen design like that is that no matter where the sunlight is, u can still see it, a lot cars have that problem, u just can't see the screen if the sun is in the wrong position
No, matt style is information so you yourself make a valuation. Doug has almost gathered a brand around his name, in a way which he decides what is best, what is not. I like matt more, he covers everyday driving and does not waste time
5 year warranty is the clincher if its a keeper.....ive bought a kona premium 1.0 turbo....44 mpg great car....firm ride but handles like a sporty hatchback.
Let me tell you something, unless you can afford the Audi Q5 forget the Sportage, 3008 and the karoq. Buy a decent spec Tucson and you will have with out a doubt the best car of the bunch. I drive 2500mls week in a variety of different cars.
I will add now. I love my cars. I have previously owned sports cars, small cars, big cars - ranging from a 1.0 litre up to a 3.0. Diesel. Petrol, Automatic , manual, semi. I have actually done my homework on this and spoken to many a friend who are mechanics and owners. Also my own research. This is the first brand new car I am purchasing. I have now bought the premium SE because - the facts - It has everything, the budget is on par ( 48 months £330 PCP ). The servicing is cheaper then most. Boot space - ok abit MEH - but cheaper to get smaller suitcases then upgrade the brand to a bigger boot space and a chunkier engine that will cost your fuel. Who needs power any more when the roads are bloody traffic anyway !! I have a dog, a 4 yr old and a 13 yr old ( and a grumpy 40 something kid - my hubby ). Enough space for them for day trips and weekends away (( just remember ROOF RACK )) and CHARGERS EVERYWHERE !! Perfect. I rarely do school runs but if I have too, it will be a head turner. I live in Swindon UK, soooo many roundabouts and yes I know I will get through tyres - but we have so many tyre garages they will always compete. Mat has given a just worthy review but look at your own personal Circumstance - I wanted big, I wanted HUGE, I wanted Sporty - but in the end. I realised. It is just not feasible. This gives you 85% of that. You want 100% - expect the price tag it comes with. This has the 5 yr warranty (( ok the garage kept saying the fair wear and tear conditions )) But As it is on PCP - - I expect in 4 yrs time electric will no longer be Beta tested but a proper thing on the road (( that Is why I didn't go down that route because newer and better versions keep happening )). PCP has better get out clauses then the others. Ok the Sat nav - So apparently the update for this is done with the yearly service - If they charge I will haggle that I bought car from brand spanking new ( also point out that it has probably been sat on Avonmouth docks for at least 6 months - SO CHECK FOR SALT DAMAGE !! I used to work for a car manufacturer that mentioned that - not Hyundai ). I think like mobile phones, Give it 6 months and a better one will come out. But this - it's the car for my family needs. It has taken me 6 months to get to this point, do not think it is easy to choose your next car, it isn't - don't go by your friends recommendation, nor garage ( they can give you advice about costs and stuff when you narrow it down to certain makes and models which I did ), nor family. It is you and who will be in that car with you - also look at where you will be 5 years down the line. I have only just touched to edge of what I think.
I know, right? Partnering with Krell was a fantastic move by Hyundai. It's a shame that loads of people, including Matt here, don't know the company. If they made it properly, it should blow any Bose, B&O etc. car audio system out of the water.
Based partly on this video I bought one, the SE Nav 1.6 diesel which is now in mild hybrid. It has plenty of power, I average around 50 mpg and it is very comfy (I really thought after this positive video he was going to say "shortlist" but he didn't!). I would add a downside- whilst the SE Nav trim now comes with more toys than when this video was made, it still doesn't have a start button and so you can't just keep your keys in your pocket. I would also add that the mild hybrid takes up room under the boot and so I can't lower the floor like in this video and there is no spare wheel. But those gripes aside, after the first 500 miles, the car still feels very quiet, capable and people also say how nice it looks.
I have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. I went with the Tucson because I wanted AWD. It has been one of the biggest mistakes. The first was getting a Hyundai. They don’t care about their consumers. My car has been blowing headlights- having electrical issues (my auto windows go back down when you roll them up, my rear windshield wipers go off whenever they want, my break light seems to go on and off at random. I have reached out because as a company they should only want the best products out there. I was told that “because my car is over 3 years old. There is nothing they can do for me. To bring it to a dealer and “see what I can get” for it. I owe more than it’s worth because one thing they don’t tell you when you buy a Hyundai is they depreciate way faster than you can make payments to survive. DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI.
This new format of videos is too fast... I understand why it is so, but I liked it more with previous format where we have links to more detailed videos, so you don't put so much information into 18-19 minutes... I also like that regular links to the car's competitors in class... Anyway...Thankful for your videos!
I've had a 1.6 dci 4wd Qashqai Tekna from new. It's now 2 1/2 years old. It has had numerous warranty repair/issues. Check out the many problems encountered on the Qashqai Owner's FB page. I am sick of it. I am currently awaiting delivery of a new Hyundai Tucson Premium SE 2 litre diesel Light Hybrid. From the extended test drive, it is far better than the top of the range Qasqai; and fitted with more safety kit. It is also larger.
We had this vehicle in 2021 and it was a loan/lease vehicle, but when my granny died we had to return it because my gran was the person who paid for the loan/lease
Could anyone tell me which is the better choice the Kia Sportage 4th gen 2015 or this Hyundai Tucson? for a family of 5, that go on long journeys we live in Dorset and travel to London quite often, and next year we're looking to go on a European road trip for the first time? Our Honda civic is no longer suited, as it is close to hitting 200k miles, and the space in the back isn't great. Unfortunately our budget isn't big so need something reasonable? Amy recommendations would be appreciated, thanks.
Krell Industries Inc., founded by its C.E.O. and chief designer Dan D'Agostino, is one of America's largest manufacturers of high-end audio systems. While most of their acclaim has come from their power amplifiers and CD players, they also make preamplifiers, loudspeakers, subwoofers and SACD players.
Enjoyed the revised format on this vid. Spent more time covering everything, and driving it round town, housing estates on poor road surfaces. Keeps thing more relevant. Hope for more of the same with future family cars👍🏻
Nothing stand a chance against 3008 in this class at the moment, still Tucson is good option, plus its great value for money. Model before the top one with 177hp petrol engine is around 24k and model below (model that Matt said is best buy) its 21.5k. Seriously, some (well) equiped hatchbacks in C segment cost the same. Great deal.
Please.... When will the 2021 review be out. Want to hear my favourite car reviewers opinion of it and see if I can fit bottles in the door bins! 🙏 Please and thank you! Also, thanks so much for your content, been watching a while and has really helped me
It's annoying to see that you can get a manual in the top end version in the UK. In Australia you can only get the manual in the base version, and even then, they only include it to have a good "starting from" price. It's also annoying that in Australia, the top end version is about $25k more expensive than the base model. Once you start getting into that $50k+ territory, there's so many better options than a Tuscon.
The Korean version of this car comes with 8-way JBL sound system. The North American version has an Infinity system. Strange that they went with a no-name brand for the European market..The Korean version also has AWD at all levels regardless of the engine size
It’s NOT a ‘no name’ system at all….if you research Krell, you’ll find they are a high-end audio company, that have been around for years. But more importantly, have you heard it?….the sound is astonishing and easily equals all the more common (well known) premium audio brands.
4:50 i guess anyone shopping Hyundai wouldn't know much about their audios and be disappointed to see Krell instead of something like Bose or JVC or Sony or Pioneer or similar... but those in the know would be surprised to see that brand name marked inside a Hyundai... for one, i was surprised.

Hi mat watson.. make a review for the new tucson 2021?
tucson exterior design is beautiful... my salute to hyundai’s design department...
Should have gone to SpecSavers...
@@Benzknees lol! tell that to the people who designed the 2020 ford escape...lol!
boy teebah - or indeed any SUV.
Agreed
"Never heard of Krell" :) Don't tell it to an audiophile :) Krell high end gear is more expensive than this car :)
Lol, like one monoblock!
I know, right? Partnering with Krell was a fantastic move by Hyundai. It's a shame that loads of people, including Matt here, don't know the company. If they made it properly, it should blow any Bose, B&O etc. car audio system out of the water.
I laughed hard when he said it too ! What a shame
Matt Watson makes video of Gloss Tucson.. 😂😂😂

Leave mat alone bully
1:22 isnt that the entery car of the pre face lift?
10:00 - those hooks are for the luggage compartment storage net.
This new format of videos is too fast...
I understand why it is so, but I liked it more with previous format where we have links to more detailed videos, so you don't put so much information into 18-19 minutes...
I also like that regular links to the car's competitors in class...
Anyway...Thankful for your videos!
10 years challenge in April 2019? Better late than never. 👏🏻
REVIEW THE 2019 HYUNDAI SANTA FE!!!
yes
Yeah!!
That's a nice idea, but you are doing it for likes too...
It's shit. Engine made in china
You’re so thirsty it hurts
when do you a review of the tucson hybrid ?
I've had a 1.6 dci 4wd Qashqai Tekna from new. It's now 2 1/2 years old. It has had numerous warranty repair/issues. Check out the many problems encountered on the Qashqai Owner's FB page. I am sick of it. I am currently awaiting delivery of a new Hyundai Tucson Premium SE 2 litre diesel Light Hybrid. From the extended test drive, it is far better than the top of the range Qasqai; and fitted with more safety kit. It is also larger.
Congratulations on 2 mil subscribers!
Carwow you didn’t mention that it also has ventilated seats
CONGRATS for the 2 millions subscribers MAT...👍👍👍👍
Thanks for checking the golf bag with clubs.
You are the first I have seen do this. Thanks 🙏
9:55 they're not hooks for bags, that's where the cargo net clips into haha
just consider it? it's a pretty neat suv,we had an old tucson and now have a santa fe and never ever had any problems with them
I always called it Tuk-sun
We had this vehicle in 2021 and it was a loan/lease vehicle, but when my granny died we had to return it because my gran was the person who paid for the loan/lease
@ 1:22 the best bit about review
Pls add this to all your future reviews .
You need to see the 2021 model wow!
Useful review, considering one as a family run around this was really informative.
wish they had a hybrid version in the US, even the 2.4L seems rather anemic in the power dept.
I love your vids. your great at making them in compare to Carbuyer. that's why you've got nearly 2 milion subscribers!
They have 2 Million
I KNOW! I am not an idiot
@@dominikkrawczyk9975 glad to know!
me too (!)
If you see carefully there is lot of smoke or something coming from the rare exhaust. Not sure what it is?
vijaykumar k because of cold weather
2mil subs otw yooo.. congrat matt on how far u hve gone. really enjoy all ur vids. u really made a great decision on setting up ur own utube channel.
Kindly bring a review for HYUNDAI TUCSON N-LINE or is this variant is available in UK market?
Looking forward to seeing the review on the all new Hyundai Tucson
What I like about this channel is that it's really unbiased!
Krell Industries Inc., founded by its C.E.O. and chief designer Dan D'Agostino, is one of America's largest manufacturers of high-end audio systems. While most of their acclaim has come from their power amplifiers and CD players, they also make preamplifiers, loudspeakers, subwoofers and SACD players.
mat could you please review the Hyundai santa fe?
Please review Subaru forester 2019 when it comes out
Korean cars are improving rapidly and i believe they will overcome japanese cars in the close future
Still not as good yet though
following the industry is easy. pushing the limit is hard. I'm sure they can keep up but to surpass, it's a different story.
The Potato oh they passed the Germans lol
I believe that with the new Tucson that came out they have surpassed Japanese cars
4:37 yes I do.
Wich car I shold buy ?
Hyundai i30 or Kia ceed
CROATIAN POWER both cool
i30 it's better
Also, thanks so much for your content, been watching a while and has really helped me
Can we have a review of the new shape Tucson?
Your reviews are all good but this is the best one you have done in my opinion 👍
Tbh the backseat folding isn’t too bad compared to the likes of the GLE or the GLS which are a proper faff
Try a review on the MG6
What do you think mat?
Gaming Wraith pretty irrelevant car for the channel, it won’t attract many views and I’m not even sure that it’s sold here in the UK.
Calvin Tang yeah
Try to find an MG6.
CarWow are in the business of selling cars, and no-one in their right mind is going to buy some crappy rebadged Chinese Roewe i6.
