Congratulations on discovering BioShock! BioShock was the game that _instantly_ got me into PC gaming. My cousin showed me a game when I was over. P.S. I'm saddened that you had to settle for the so-called "Remastered" version.
Hi Krysttl! I'm not familiar with your channel, but I look forward to watching this; it's been a while since I saw a Bioshock playthrough. I will say that this game is all about lore and environmental storytelling. Every audio diary and every bit of scenery is telling a story about what kind of place Rapture was, why it was the way that it was, and what became of it. The more that you think about the things being said and shown, the more you're likely to appreciate things. Re-listening to diaries is often a good option too. I, for one, love it when people can actually wrap their heads around Rapture. I hope you'll take the time to do so! 🙂
First of all, this video brings back memories ! I LOVED Bioshock, back in the day. I only had one gripe, that may be a spoiler, so I'll keep it to myself. Second of all, you are SO pretty.
That section at the beginning is pretty well the only place where you get locked out. I never understood why they did that there. You can listen to any diary you picked up through the menu., this is handy when you forget to read it right away or are interrupted. You can hack security cameras as well, they send robots after your enemies if you do. A few cameras are out of reach so you have to destroy them. Good Luck ! Your doing great so far! 😄
They probably couldn't do the exposition any other way. They had to take away your weapons and not let you go back to an enemy while the scene played out. Bioshock is fine, but there are other games where I hate the forced exposition that interferes with playing the game. You missed a recording downstairs, from last new year celebrations when war broke out in Rapture, was from Ryan's girlfriend point of view
Hey there! Just discovered you and am excited to see someone start this journey 😊 I love this series. Can't wait for you to get to Infinite. That's my personal favorite of the series
You really took to this game quick. It is an honor to travel to Rapture (and in the future, beyond) with you. Hope you'll post again, soon. Btw, you see the key through a window. You'll need a plasmid to get it.
I'm commenting this before I watch cause I'm gonna come back to it later, but I'm excited to see you're first playthrough! My first playthrough was fantastic and I hope you have the same experience
Hello! I'm new to your content but this is by far one of my most cherished games and I am very excited for you to experience the beautiful art deco world of Rapture! A quick tip, would you kindly try hacking the security cameras, you can usually snuggle up underneath them and hack em that way. Also fun fact, the director of the game did the voice for the circus of values vending machine.
I remember playing this with my brother on Xbox 360, we'd take turns playing a level/checkpoint while the other watched. Feels like so long ago. This game has the most AMAZING atmosphere and immersion. It's a hell of a game to boot!
I'm so happy to have stumbled across your channel! I love Bioshock, but I know what a pain Let's Plays can be from watching Ellen Rose's playthrough last year. Glad to see your fresh attitude. I must say, you did have me shouting "LOOK AROUND" in the last 15 minutes or so, since the key to Chompers Dental was glowing on your screen about 8 times, but you didn't stand still long enough to see it, although when you started the episode, you were moving more slowly, and I doubt you would have missed it. Crossing fingers that you spot it in Episode 2, as getting it triggers something.
"I'll be the parasite and you can be the pretty lady voice" Funny, I was gonna say the same thing to you *finger guns* Seriously though, great start to one of my favorite games. I love your attention to detail and interest in the lore. Excited for future episodes!
I LLLOOOOVE this game!! Not only is it a great story with super powers, but I am also a sucker for art deco. I also love to see someone play for the first time. You're in for such a treat! - Oh and a small amount of advice - definitely search as much as you can. Little goodies are hidden in odd little places. Another edit - sorry, I'm editing as I'm watching LOL - Be careful with the alcohol - until you get the booze hound tonic, alcohol lowers your eve level - take the time to hack all the bots, turrets, cameras and health points as you can. When you get to Arcadia, photograph the teleporting splicers as much as you can and you'll be rewarded with the invisibility tonic. Whenever you stand still it activates.
Even from the begining, there is a very...UNIQUE sense to Bioshock. The architectural style of the lighthouse is art-deco which was a French style the Americans favoured around the 20's and 30's in much of their older buildings and can still be seen today in pockets around USA and other places. Ryan's speech as you submerge is clearly interesting, he is talking about the ways of ethics and morality...humans only go so far in things because that is simply what certain rules say they can...but why? For surely an artist could achieve more if he was allowed to...or a doctor could help his patients more without limits. Ryan doesn't believe in spoon feeding people, he believes that the only things people have the right to own are what they earn...as you can imagine he hated Roosevelt in the 30's and his campaign of helping the down trodden. He has this thing about "parasites" people who try to feed off hard working people are parasites...and Rapture is his little Utopia to hide from the parasites.
The ideology behind this "utopia" is a very obvious reference to "Atlas shrugged" by Ayn Rand. Andrew Ryan is almost an anagram of Ayn Rand (minus a couple of letters), and the guy you talk to on the radio is Atlas. And in the book all the rich people build a utopia on an island to avoid the "parasites". The game is about what would actually happen if somebody tried to build a society along those lines.
@@TheMaginor bioshock is about more than utopias though...it is about utopias, multiple realities, quantum physics and the concept of constants and variables
@@ajaakola2 the book came after the game. Bioshock was inspired by System Shock, a much older game (which has the same principles in many ways and even soem of the same designers) and then later people would accept System Shock as just another relaity in the Bioshock Multiverse. Bioshock then came out on 360 and so did it's sequel (Bioshcok 2) and so did infinite. Then the remaster collection was put on PS4 and other consoles. The BOOK of Bioshock was made sometime during the creation of the Bioshock games (which means long after System Shock...the game that was the original inspiration for Bioshock).
Always love watching a Bioshock newbie playing for the first time. I have the tattoos that Jack has on my wrists so it's super immersive when I do annual playthrough.
It’s not really a horror game, but it is spooky. I’m glad to see you take your time. I often see people rush through games and they miss so much. I’m glad I play the original Bioshock one and not the remastered version. I’ve played it at least 10 times and never had those grates get stuck like they did for you. And I’ve never had corpses sliding along the ground either 😂
I enjoy exploring levels; I can't fault you for doing the same. This game is definitely one that encourages exploration, even if there's not much of a gameplay-based reward for it; there's a heavy emphasis on atmosphere. I'm sure the artists and level designers would want you to do it.
I had forgotten how good this game was. I played the original from 2006 or 7, but the remake looks incredible on your computer. All the Art Deco gives me "The Shining" vibes. I don't remember too many details now except "Would you kindly..." Great play thru on your part.
1:40:03 It's refreshing to see you use TK as intended. I'd say about 90% of playthroughs I've seen have the player only using TK where required to advance the game and then never using it again. It uses very little eve when throwing objects and uses no eve if you just drop or pickup an item after grabbing it. The gas cylinders and barrels are good TK ammo. Almost any item can be used as TK ammo. Just something to keep in mind if you ever replay this.
Masterpiece. I remember picking it up day one in GameStop and I was the only person waiting before the shutter opened 🤣 They were confused I'd waited so long just for this game.
1:44:23 "Oh no another one"! That killed me hahaha.^^ Played Bioshock right after release and now got back on it with your playthrough. Super fun to watch and I must say, this game was such a masterpiece. I'm planning now to gift it to a friend who never played it after watching your video. Everyone should play this once like Half-Life / Black Mesa. Probably you are already through this but I hope you find out that you can also hack security cameras when you are below them or just stay out of the red spot light they do at searching. Edit: So much great moments: 1:47:42 omg^^
I played bioshock for the first time when I was so young I've forgotten what it's like to experience it for the first time again, so this is real entertaining to me
Bioshock is my favorite game, I have replayed it so many times.. I like your playthrough so far and I hope you play all the games, not just the first one. Also, be sure to listen to all the audio diaries if you want to understand the story better and of course get more familiar with the lore. Some of the diaries also give you clues about hidden goods.
This isnt a spoiler, it says nothing not already stated by the game. Just elaborating. Rapture is "What if the philosophical system, Objectivism, was allowed to run unchecked?" A big part of Objectivism is "an individual's primary moral obligation is to achieve his own well-being". Basically, do whatever you need to make yourself the best you can, everything else be damned. It is YOURS, and anyone that tries to take what you've earned is a parasite. Essentially it turned selfishness into a moral philosophy.
@drewwar9344 Without going into spoilers, the city was already about to tear itself apart. The stuff with Atlas had nothing to do with Adam, that was the result of the society objectivism created.
@Eidlones But He was a parasite Smuggling in contraband and stealing technology The atom Then once he controlled the atom he made everybody basically crackheads I mean. Our world at least in america could use some objectivism I mean, imagine how happy the lgbtq community would be if the christians and the conservatives left Them alone and minded their own business Because that's what it is You worry about yourself and don't tell me how to live. And I don't worry about you and till you how to live
But as you know atlas was a parasite Someone who stole technology and smuggle things To call objectivism the philosophy of selfishness it's quite childish It's quite literally you mind your business. And I mind my business. And I worry about myself and what i'm doing and not worrying about what other people are doing with their lives I'm just a planet to today's society. The conservatives at least in America are hell-bent on governing people's bodies.trying to get rid of the LGBT community instead.Of just letting people live their lives
I really love this game. My daughter bought me a T-shirt with Big Daddy on it way back around 2010, I played it on the computer. I have been thinking about playing it on my PS5 lately.

You really took to this game quick. It is an honor to travel to Rapture (and in the future, beyond) with you. Hope you'll post again, soon. Btw, you see the key through a window. You'll need a plasmid to get it.
the bioshock trilogy is my all time favorite video game series #1. cant wait for next upload❤
New channel to watch! Neat! Have fun playing! I wonder what games you will play in the future.
Everyone starts from scratch, don't give up, I hope that one day you will become a great TH-camr and
I'm commenting this before I watch cause I'm gonna come back to it later, but I'm excited to see you're first playthrough!
1:21:27 “a t-shirt with like dead dad” 😂 nothing like funeral merch
The fact that you seemed to be ignoring Atlas the majority of the time is both really frustrating and absolutely perfect.
😂FK atlas
"Bioshock" is one of my favorite games of all time and it is really fun seeing someone experience it for the first time. I hope you enjoy it!
"I'll be the parasite and you can be the pretty lady voice"
Funny, I was gonna say the same thing to you *finger guns*
Seriously though, great start to one of my favorite games.
Another edit - sorry, I'm editing as I'm watching LOL
- Be careful with the alcohol - until you get the booze hound tonic, alcohol lowers your eve level
- take the time to hack all the bots, turrets, cameras and health points as you can.
@@IDyce88 Sure, not exclusively. One of the themes.
@@IDyce88Thats true but the first game was based on her book
Ready to be Bio-shook!
Also: Spoiler free tip:
You do need to pick up the golden reels if you want to view them post game.
first timer watching you here.
boy oh boy, I cant wait to watch you complete the whole bioshock trilogy
I allay take my time with games to explore and appreciate how beautiful they look
Not wanting to miss content while picking up diaries and NOT listening to them is wild 😭
Masterpiece. I remember picking it up day one in GameStop and I was the only person waiting before the shutter opened 🤣 They were confused I'd waited so long just for this game.
1:44:23 "Oh no another one"! That killed me hahaha.^^
Played Bioshock right after release and now got back on it with your playthrough.
I loved all 3 of these games, there was such a storyline ot follow
Im here for it
I played bioshock for the first time when I was so young I've forgotten what it's like to experience it for the first time again, so this is real entertaining to me
This game is a masterpiece, have fun with it. This is truly it's own world.
Thank you for more content!
I enjoy watching someone fall in love with a game I have always enjoyed.
Rapture is "What if the philosophical system, Objectivism, was allowed to run unchecked?"
A big part of Objectivism is "an individual's primary moral obligation is to achieve his own well-being". Basically, do whatever you need to make yourself the best you can, everything else be damned. It is YOURS, and anyone that tries to take what you've earned is a parasite.
Essentially it turned selfishness into a moral philosophy.
I mean it worked but they just didn't see that Adam was twisting the mines of the citizens other than that it was perfect
Glad to see I'm not the only one here that knows it's an essay on Objectivism.
It's nice to see someone be immersed in the world of this game.
I really love this game. My daughter bought me a T-shirt with Big Daddy on it way back around 2010, I played it on the computer. I have been thinking about playing it on my PS5 lately.
Wow! 1:02:39 its another godd headshot, nice. You are very skillful, clever. Keep it up. :)
That one legit jump scare the game pulls on the player 11/10
Timestamp 11:16 "I don't have a weapon" Yes, straight to gamer mode. She knows what she is in for and the need to be ready.
I usually dont watch playthrough videos, but its interesting to see, how different people have different playstyles :)
Can't wait for ep 2!
Today!
