The drummer is the son of the original drummer who died in 1980 (he was considered the best rock drummer ever). The vocalist was close with the drummer - that’s why he is showing emotion. The top hats are in honor of the original drummer who wore them.

The Surviving members of Led Zeppelin had invited Jason Bonham to join them as their guest for the awards, but he had to say "I'm sorry guys, but I have a commitment that night". The commitment he had was to be the drummer you just watched, playing the part his father had played. He was approached to perform for his father's band-mates even before Led Zeppelin was informed of the ceremonies.
Ann Wilson was 62 years old at the time of this tribute in 2012, plus she was fighting the flu. What a set of pipes!
Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful female voices. And her sister Nancy can play a mean guitar. This is one of the best tributes to Led Zeppelin with Ann & Nancy doing the classic song "Stairway To Heaven". No one else could have pulled it off as well. "Heart" have had so many great hits such as "Magic Man", "Crazy on You", "Barracuda", "What About Love", "Never", "Dog & Butterfly", "These Dreams", "Alone" etc.
I can't imagine how intimidating it would be to cover Led Zeppelin in front of Led Zeppelin, no matter who you are. They did a good job!
Robert plant choked back tears for his friend John bonham not being alive for this and also seeing John’s son play the drums for it. Also in an interview plant said he grew to hate ever writing this song because of the amount of bands that would cover it and butcher it heart made him love his song all over again that night
His dad died in the Early 80's....what an honor to take your dads place to honor your father and led Zeppelin!!
"The guy in the middle" is Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin's lead singer). He said that when John Bonham (Led Zeppelin's drummer) passed away, that they couldn't continue on as Led Zeppelin. He was very close to Bonham and it touched his heart to see Bonham's son Jason playing drums on this. What a tribute!
This is the Kennedy Center honors, Led Zeppelin was being honored with the award which is why they have the rainbow colored awards around their necks. Ann and Nancy Wilson are the members of the band Heart, Ann was singing the vocals and Nancy also a vocalist but huge on the guitar, they are legends in rock themselves. These award presentations typically have other music legends perform the honorees greatest hits during the ceremony.

Some days all you need is a little Ann and Nancy Wilson to make your day great. They were honoring Zepplin at the Kennedy Center Honors. Robert Plant has always said he hates when people cover their songs but by the end of this you can see him in tears. Ann Wilson has the voice of an Angel.

Anne and Nancy Wilson of Heart used to be considered the best female lead singers for a rock band, In the 70s . Anne is often considered “the greatest female rock vocalist of all times“ You should do a reaction to. Barracuda, Magic Man, Dog and Butterfly, or Crazy on you. I was a young teenager in the seventies. They were some of my favorites!
The drummer's father died decades ago. John Bonham was Zeppelin's original drummer. The band broke up when he died in 1980.

I'm glad you loved and Wilson's voice and her sister Nancy's guitar presence because Nancy is credited with being one of the top guitar players of all time and and Wilson one of the top female voices who could have only done this don't forget she was almost 70 years old doing this

Hopefully, you're familiar with the original version. It will help you appreciate just how amazing this cover version is. The guy in the middle (Robert Plant) and the guy with the ponytail (Jimmy Page) wrote this song. It takes a lot to impress the songwriters/singers of such a classic.

Heart were the only ones given permission to record Led Zeppelin covers. LZ trusted them not to screw up.

The drummer's father John Bonham was Led Zeppelin's drummer but he died so there should have been 4 of them watching. Jason Bonham (John's son) drummed for this performance. John always wore that style of hat.

If you really want to see how amazing Jason Bonham is the, son of the great John Bohnman...you need to watch the video of "Kashmir", at the Celebration Day Concert!! It is the last live performance of the group, they are much older but definitely show us all that age is just a number!! Killer perforce by all, but Jason is off the chain!!

No the whole group was not there. Drummer John Bonham died in 1980. This was at The Kennedy Center Honors Ceremony.
The Band was there because this whole event was a tribute to the band at the Kennedy Centre. The Obamas were also there.
John Bonham died in 1980. They were so close that the band stopped performing. They didn't want another drummer. This is John Bonhams son.

Unfortunately John Bonham tragically died choking on his vomit as a result of serious issues with alcohol. He was discovered dead in bed. Robert Plant had grown to hate hearing people destroy this song...but Ann Wilson is a phenomenal singer.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking her honor George Harrison by singing " Beware of Darkness.".
Also The Kennedy Center honors with Adam Lambert performing "Believe" to honor Cher is another NEXT LEVEL performance.

Yes he is his god father and they were actually besfriends plus when John bonham died he was at Robert plant’s house when he died he was living there at that time I believe not 100% sure on the living there part but he did definitely die at his house
