    Normally when people talk about "symbiosis", they're talking about two or more different organisms cooperating to better survive and reproduce. The classical definition of symbiosis is actually much broader than this, and for good reason. Here we will look how evolutionary biologists understand symbiosis, all its different forms, and why it matters!

    The Cholera study has to be repeated in the south and south-east Asia. This area is basically a kinda native habitat for Vibrio cholerae, but things have changed a lot in the last few decades. A sanitary flushing toilet is now almost common everywhere except for some slums. Cholera has almost vanished as well, but maybe actually its the commensal form that is wandering around.

    Might be a silly assumption, but could the relationship between man and pet be argued as a “social symbiosis”?
    Pets receive regular nourishment from humans, humans receive emotional support/relief from relationships with pets
    I am most definitely speaking out of my rear but I’m just curious if this has been considered

    • @broomhilder
      @broomhilder 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Another thing: maybe pets (depending on the species) developing more pro-social behaviors with other species could be considered a benefit from domestication
      Again, just speculating here

      No. Plants are the primary energy producers, some plants can just live by themselves, and others have found symbioses with animals. However, land plants and land fungi... now that could be a different story.
