I have been trekking since 2017 and never used trekking poles, 2 weeks back I went on a 5000 meters peak expedition. Ahead of me there were 2 very experienced mountaineers, I was following them as I didn't know the trail. I consider myself a good trekker, I go with a good pace, but those two were flying! They were too fast and both of them were using trekking poles. Today I ordered a pair for myself... these are a must!

Many thanks for sharing your experience with trekking poles, we have a very similar one. So we agree on your point. But the poles also can protect you from injures or excessive pressure on the joints if used correctly, so for mountain treks we find them a must too.

I have used these poles for maybe 4 years. I paint mine mat black. One of them broke this spring time as the button which holds the pole in place slipped down into the pole, but that’s understandable after ~4 years. .
Also can be adjusted quite short for my children to use. Would highly recommend for a first set of poles.

Thank you for the comment. We also do think that it's a nice first set of poles. That's impressive of how much use you can get out of them!

I may be wrong, but such poles are good only for flat surfaces. If you are hiking on hilly terrain, you need very sturdy poles, otherwise they may not hold your weight in critical situations. For example, my weight is 85 kg, plus equipment I'll be 100 kg stationary. In dynamic, I may put as much as 200 kg on top of the pole, but if you take into account that the weight will be applied at the angle, you need a very good quality poles to fully rely on them! Otherwise, it is much better not to use them at all. Unless you are walking Camino in Spain and must keep those zillions of stray dogs away from your beloved legs!:))

When we first got them we didn't expect anything special and just wanted to test them out and see how walking with poles works for us. For now it's been almost a year in use including in the mountains and it holds up every terrain well. We'll see how it perform this second year and may explore other options as well in the future. We found that most of other poles are heavier and it was putting us off from buying it.

@@WalkingNatureWorld Your style of walking is very careful and easy-going, and these poles are perfect for your weight and such easy walking style! But for me they are not good at all. I do understand that you are simply sharing your personal story with us, and thank you for that.

Yes, we love that they are quite light and for a budget price sturdy enough too. Hope you have a nice experience with them!

I have these and have used them for Scotland, Oman, Turkey and the Adirondacks (USA) hiking. Incidentally, I also use them for my Lanshan 2 ☺️ I have to be honest; I was looking to upgrade whilst in all of the outdoors stores I passed in the US but couldn’t find anything that actually justified changing from these. They’re simple, competitive on weight and reliable. The only thing I don’t like is the colour really. Another thing that others may find useful - I’m a big guy - 104kg (230 lbs) and 193cm tall (6ft3”) and these poles have definitely passed the durability test with me a year on.

We have used these poles for several hiking seasons and they didn't break in the extreme conditions in the mountains on rocky ground, they just started to be more loose with time

I'm not done with the video while I write this but I can already see a con with this product when pitching a trekking pole tent , also the holes are always open so water and dirt can get inside
