Let’s be honest, you two are what makes the channel popular, regardless of your activities! Be it canal explorers, or gentlemen farmers, the appeal is the same. Should your bees make enough Foxy Honey to be marketable, I’d definitely be happy to purchase on line 😋. Looking forward to future vlogs and your inevitable hilarious misadventures with chickens, bees, and goats. Love and hugs to both of you!
Just enjoy yourselves as lots of others have said you two and particularly Otis make the channel. One question I do have, the chickens have the hen house, the bees have the hive but do you have somewhere to live? All the very best to you all.
I live in Scotland and my friend is a photographer and always comments that Scotland has a special light, you really notice it in your very professionally filmed vlogs. You guys always put a smile on my face x x
That was a lovely chat on the kayak 💖 And it's true I've seen other people I follow who start worrying about keeping up the content. Honestly most of us are here because we like you, and we want you to be happy. So take the breaks you need and always do what is right for you, the core group will stay for the ride! 😘❤
I love that Shaun is engaging more. He always engaged and was always funny of course but he seems more "all in" with this new phase. I was thinking maybe someday you could do a narrowboat vacation if you wanted to get back to it for a while. With a holding, you might never have a true vacation again until you find a trustworthy person to look after things so you can leave. Critters and gardens surely don't look after themselves. Otis seems to be totally taken with being a landlubber. More new smells to check out. 🥰
No episode is complete unless there is a “you can’t say that” in the out takes 😂😂😂 You could narrate anything and I’d watch, because the thing that keeps us coming back is how genuine and lovely you both are.
It seems to me that Otis is the one who's mental state has taken the turn towards the positive. He seems to be one happy fellow running free. Good to see all of you happy and healthy.
Colin, your opening monologue had me in tears! Tinkie Winkie and wasp douching LOL. No matter if you are Foxes Afloat or Foxes Aground, we love you and will support your channel.
Hi Colin, Shaun and Otis. It was your chemistry, interaction and just plain good humour and fun that drew me in to this channel, not to mention your historical stories. Whether you're Foxes Afloat, Foxes Onshore for Foxes in Space (hey, that sounds like a good idea!), you are what made the channel. Taking care of one's self is more important than just about anything else. Love you guys!
You two look so happy, well you three, Otis looked like he was having a blast. Always remember that the most important thing is to take care of yourself and then you can take care of those you love. And I can't wait to see Otis' reaction to the hens and the goats :)
We came for the narrowboats, but we stayed for the two of you! Excited to be shown the sights and history of the highlands, lochs, and islands of Scotland in a way only the Foxes do!
I'm in awe of your sense of adventure. In another life, back in the early 1970s, my late wife and I fled the noise and pollution of Toronto for 5 acres in Cedar Valley, (then miles from what became Metro Toronto sprawl) and as I started on my writing career while she was a teacher, we tried to be as self-sufficient as we could. I kept bees for two seasons but didn't know what I was doing and they all died I grew mountains of veggies and learned to store them. We had our own trout pond and our young kids and dogs loved it. Work opportunities took us back to the city again, but our Cedar Valley days held the sweetest memories. You are about to start making your memories and living life to its fullest. Please give us a tour of your living quarters one day? John, Ontario, Canada
We did something similar. We sold our home to our son and moved to Maine and bought 30 acres with our daughter on a small mountain. It dates back to the 1800’s. House is newer but lots of clean up and prepping for our gardens. We have deer, moose, eagles and turkeys along with many predators. It’s quiet and we just love it. Even went snow shoeing. Enjoy and so glad you are doing what is right with you. Cheers.
Lovely to find you boys again. I'm on a knife edge at the moment with illness so I know you will keep me cheerful. It won't matter where you are, it's you two that make channel. I spent the last thirty years raising livestock, sheep, goats, hen's, ducks, even two cows in our middle of town garden stables with rented land out of town. Two up two down long narrow L shaped garden not posh. You'll be fine, whatever gets you through the day is fine. Farmers will help you if you take on their good advice. Oh boys, you're going to love it. Not all the time - but most. Xxx
I can't wait for this new journey. I'm really happy for you both, it's going to be brilliant. Just remember... What ever you do, do it for you both and not for us. We all just want you to be happy. No pressure.
Hi Colin, Shaun and Otis, Loved to hear and see the joy and excitement in your voices and faces...even Otis running around looks extremely happy! Shaun the steps you uncovered are beautiful! Colin loved the chat when you were out in the kayak! Great plans for your property! I think it's wonderful to hear and see people embracing life and doing what makes them happy! Please give Otis a cuddle for me. Thank you for sharing so much of your life with us, take really good care of each other, stay well! Much love Kathy x 💕
Colin and Shaun: You see, it wasn't the narrowboat theme that first called my attention to you guys' channel. It was you both, the interaction, the chemistry and the fun, no matter where y'all were. So, afloat can mean many things beyond "on the water", and as you know metaphors are the gold of the English language. Explore more about being Yorkshire Men in Scotland, perhaps. More about the food, the drink, the ordinaryness of being up there, leaving London behind. Be your own Dylan Thomases! Write your own episodes of Under Milk Wood. Explore ordinary daily things as poetry or as a lyric salute to the Land -- and the Water, yes. How's that? :)
brilliant...well said..in my comment I told them that they are still Foxes afloat, but instead of floating on water they are now mentally floating themselves..
Your mental health and your relationship are far more important than the channel. You two are great and so very entertaining, the channel will continue to grow because you are both wonderful and your love for each other shines through. I look forward to all your future adventures and misadventures in equal measure so full steam ahead and enjoy life to the full so we can all come along with you both. Love you both loads xxx
I’m looking forward to your Scottish ‘travelogues’. Watching the farm develop will be just as fun (but more work for you 😉) I’d love it if Otis could give us a GoPro tour of the land himself! 😆 This is all to say, I’m in for whatever comes next! ATB!
Hi guys, I really loved you vlog. Although i am a boating man and loved the journeys on Silver Fox, i also love wild life and gardening. You are doing the right thing, not only for your health but for your piece of mind. Go for it, enjoy it and keep on vlogging. Take care, stay safe and well, with best regards Derek.
Oh! I know I’ve said it before, but you two just make my day! I sat here with my tea, crocheting a doll order and just loved every minute! Love the beauty of the place you are and love how much Otis loves it ( I think you could call him Zoomer!) and of course just laughed! Yup! I think Foxes Afloat is the best medicine! ( and you both DO seem so much less stressed!) So this new endeavor seems to be working a treat and I can’t wait to see what yous get up to next! Take care! 🌺Joanie
I think your plans are wonderful! Like you said, if people want a canal vlog, there are other people to watch. For those of us, who like to hear “you can’t say that” on a regular basis, we will stick with you. You two and Otis, should be able to live your life how you want and share as much or as little with the world as YOU want! I for one love what you are doing! Seeing Colin and Shaun so much happier is well worth it!
I’m so happy you’ve settled on what’s making you happy. I do recall many many vlogs ago suggesting not to take too much on with the plans for the new boat series, fearing that the additional pressure is often counter productive for the mind. I think there is a danger with successful channels to lose sight of why the vlogs started in the first place, and it then becomes a task of stressfully producing material just for the viewers. I love Scotland, and I love the new adventures of the small holding. Do what makes you happy, I’ll be watching regardless of what you’re doing. 😘
God bless you guys. I’m so glad you realized the pressure of keeping up with the narrowboat vlogs was putting a strain on you health. When something you love starts to loose it’s appeal and starts to drag you down, change is what is needed. To many times we tend to lock ourselves into a path and stay on it too long because it’s what we get used to. Change can be hard but its necessary to grow. I’m so glad you guys have experience in raising chickens and farming. I was worried you were getting over your heads. It’s a lot of work but is very rewarding. It sounds like you’ve put a lot of thought into the location of everything on the property. What a beautiful location, running water, stone borders, wildflowers and evergreens. On to the next adventure! Cheers from Florida 🌴🌴🌴🌴
Hi Colin and Sean, what a beautiful pl.ace you have. Excited to see the chickens and bees. Otis looks like he is having a blast. I can't express how happy I am for you all.
Except for one episode (when Dillon passed away), you've always given me a smile and a laugh. I loved your canal videos, but I'm also interested to see what you do next... partly because I remember watching "Good Neighbors" every week when I was a kid. I look forward to seeing your adventures whether you're on a boat or not.
Whether you are on the canals or on that pretty piece of property we will continue to watch you. Just remember one thing, have fun and enjoy the beauty around you.
Hi guys,as long as you are both having a good time and Iiveing the dream, you made a great job of the path, can't wait to see it come together, have a great week all the best to you both and of course a pat and a treat for Otis (who looks really happy) Look forward to your next video Best wishes to you both.
Your explanation of why you did not proceed with new boat build was so heartfelt and honest. Thank you for sharing. I loved the dashing sweaters you each had on for this vlog,
The bit of land behind the steps, I imagine would look great with flowers. Bonus for bees & lovely for you. I'm so excited for your next adventures. Your cinematography makes me want to move there too!
It's your life and your mental health comes first. You're both doing a marvellous life style change. You deserve happiness in beautiful surroundings. Still together and still laughing together. Enjoy.
This seems to be perfect for everyone in including your doggo! He seems to be enjoying his freedom and running around. I think you have found such a beautiful land to enjoy and live on. BTW I loved the red cow with the white nose!
Otis looks as though you made the best choice possible, he’s loving living on the land. I’m so envious. Your little piece of Scotland …… ahhhhh bliss 🇦🇺🌻
You're living my dream life! Love the daffodils springing up. Reminds me of Wordsworth's poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud -- "And then my heart with pleasure fills, And dances with the daffodils." If I were 20 years younger, I'd want to move in next door to you. Instead I'll just sit here with my heart dancing and watch your vlogs. 💖
Colin and Shawn...do you know how much courage it takes to examine your life path and then make the necessary changes to correct your path??? Even though I don't personally know you, I am so proud of the two of you; first for making that decision and second for supporting each other in the process. This is such a big deal and I wish you all the best. Thank you for pulling us along with you.
Yes, I recorded music from the radio on cassettes and screamed (I can't say that) at the presenters who started talking before the song was over. I was so mad... I won't tell you, what to do. You already are doing, what I want! 🤣 It's just my luck that you create content, that I enjoy. And as long as you enjoy what you do, I'm happy to be allowed to follow you through a part of your life. Like Otis: These are my humans? GREAT! They live on a boat? GREAT! They live in Scotland? GREAT! They (will) have chickens? GREAT!.....etc... 😁 Have a wonderful week!
Hi guys Oh what a breath of fresh air in Scotland, even Otis is having a ball. Lovely pictures of all the wild animals you have around you Looking forward to seeing the chickens 🐓 and the bees 🐝 How exciting Liked listening to you Colin relaxing on the water talking about ya change from boat to land. Great choice Have a great weekend Love Kim x x
A truly wonderful vlog, we love being part of your new life. Enjoy doing what is best for yourselves, and we will enjoy it with you all. See you again tomorrow. 💕🐾xxx
Colin, your explanation from a kayak is the best narrative I've ever seen you do. Congratulations to both of you on your life change - it should be quite exciting. If Otis needs a little help guarding the livestock, you might consider a Great Pyrenees - your property would be heaven to that sort of dog (and no predator would chance a run at the goats, either). I've had two, and while I don't have goats or chickens, they do protect me and my family from the ravages of postmen.
Best decision you've made to move to Scotland. My Dad and Mum moved to a small holding near Beauly in 1983 to raise Goats, Hens, Ducks etc. and farm their land and loved every second of it. Sadly my Dad is not with us now but lived out his life to his fullest as he always wanted. My Mum is in a care home in Inverness now and still loves it in Scotland. Enjoy every precious minute of your Wonderful fulfilled life on your Small Holding XX I'm going to enjoy following along with you XX
Can’t wait to see where this goes too, regardless what others may or may not say, it’s your lives to live how you choose, thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
Love this! Love that you are following your heart! Always Love your interaction with each other and Otis no matter where you are! It is great that you openly educate us on mental health issues. Collin you are much appreciated so I am so glad to see when you take care of yourself as needed and I love to see how Shawn supports you. Shawn, it is wonderful to hear you laugh and see how much you enjoy Collin’s escapades. So glad you are taking us with you on your next adventure! Can’t wait to see it all😊. Including when “you can’t say that”. Lol. Thanks for keeping it going!
I think you're on for an amazing adventure! You're doing the right thing: You've listened to your hearts. If that means no narrowboat at the moment, so be it. You've got to do what is right for YOU, not what is right for your viewers. Looking forward to your homestead vlogs!
Good luck guys love watching from down under 🇦🇺 I live on 30 acres but no water near me. Your both very lucky. I hope this eases you Colin. Cheers guys.
We are so happy for the both of you. No matter what your endeavours are you will always land on your feet and no matter what you do now or in the future, we'll follow you
If you get one goose to be with the chickens it will protect the hens, they are strong and fiercely loyal to them. A donkey will protect sheep and goats from predators too. Happy farming🙋🏼♀️
@@FoxesAfloat my micks family had donkeys they use to provide the beach rides for the kids in walton on the naze. Mick says donkeys are great characters.
I will miss the narrow boat adventures, but am excited about your new Highland adventures. I’m glad you are preserving your sanity. And we will learn from your adventures, triumphs and mistakes. Love your stories….. Please, keep them up.
Wow, this is going to be a great journey watching the farm come to life. I was really impressed by the knowledge you both have about siting bees and hens, and how easy it will be for the bees to feed on the flowers of gorse and heather. ...you'll have to see if you can taste the difference! Shun will be able to make loads of cakes with the eggs he collects...and then you'll be doing afternoon teas!!! 😄 Wonderful vlog boys, and stunning photography as always. Have a cracking week.xx
Some bits of bee keeping advice I found to be invaluable. 1.) Bees don't like rain, so plan on building a simple ROOF over where you want your hives, so even in a downpour, they can come out and take a poop flight. The roof can be made of translucent material like corrugated greenhouse glazing panels. 2.) Place the hives on a platform that puts them on a level that is easy to handle. Always work behind the hive, not in front. 3). Spend time with the bees. Place a chair near the hives, and even if you're not going to sit there, place your jacket or your bee suit on the back of the chair. It reinforces your presence, and they will trust that. 4.) Use your deep hive bodies only for brood boxes. As honey supers, they will be too heavy to handle. Buy shallow boxes for honey. It allows you to use pure beeswax foundation without any wire support.
Did my heart good to see that pup running wildly free. Colin, is that a beautiful new Scottish wool sweater? I am, of course, left wondering about a residence for you two. I’ve not heard you mention any sort of a home on the land but can’t imagine you tenting…lol. I have so many questions but will leave it for now and perhaps they will be answered as you move forward. Always wanted to keep bees. Once did keep chickens, but never goats. They’re such amusing critters, bet they’ll be a lot of fun.
Fell in love with Scotland during a long visit in 2019 with AirBnBs in Garroch Glen, Auchterawe (Fort Augustus) and Scrabster near Thurso. We found the beauty and peacefulness of the places we visited unparalleled! So thrilled to watch your adventures!
The three of you have never looked Happier ( yes even Otis is Happier running free)! Love your decision to settle in this beautiful area! Can hardly wait to see the chickens, goats and bees!! You are both always so much fun to watch, love your humor and banter!
Oh! this is so exciting!! You are living my dream: having land in Scotland (or any European countryside) and creating a 'farm' and homestead. So looking forward to your educational vlog creations as they develop. God Bless You all!!! Otis looks so happy too ;-) yay pup!
I took part in a couple of eco-village projects in Scotland a few years ago, one by Loch Tay and another at Culbokie on the Black Isle not far from where you are. Self sufficient living is a great lifestyle and once you get your project up and running you probably find that you will have no shortage of volunteers to help out. I will be interested myself. As for livestock if you are going to keep pigs I strongly recommend Tamworth-wild boar crosses which are ideally suited to the climate you are in. Essential reading includes the Complete Guide To Self Sufficiency by John Seymour and The Utopia Experiment by Dr. Dylan Evans (which give me a mention).
So excited for the both of you!! God guided you where you're supposed to be and I think you will love your decision. Timing is always perfect when a new phase of life pushes us in a direction that we weren't expecting and we thrive better than before!!
I don't care if you're on land or water, I love your channel because of the two lovely people who create it, and Otis of course who looks like he is loving running around the open space. You really have the best of both worlds - the land to give you somewhere to live and a means to provide for yourselves, and the water to bring you a calm and peaceful place to paddle and enjoy. Can't wait to see what you create along the way ❤🤍💙
You've made a small part of the world, your piece of heaven. It only takes a seed to make a tree, Then you grow a forest, then you make a house, then you make a village. The future is going to be grand!!!!!
What a lovely video and beautiful animal and insect shots as well. Otis seems super happy on the land… as do you both! I’m so happy for you being willing to change your journey for YOUR needs. It’s so exciting! Love and hugs to you both! 💜
You both look happy and relaxed. Sure there's planning & learning but it should be fun. We have to enjoy our short time on this earth and best to remove as much negativity as possible. Loving each other, making changes along the way to get to the sweet spot, is heavenly. Wishing you both the best for your new chapter in this life. Looking forward to the chickens, sheep, and livestock. Otis will enjoy having siblings, of course you will name them. I grew up on a dairy farm but sold it since both my brother and myself have lived in the city for s long. Now that we're retired, kind of wish we hadn't done that. Much love to the three of you❣️❣️❣️
Great vlog again. Your filming is superb and I loved your description of beekeeping. It may just be fluff but I believe that you need to talk to your bees every day and tell them your news. That way they'll feel part of your family and do their best for you. I'm glad you were unscathed by the gorse fire xx
Well I think that's a BRILLIANT move & I really hope that you love it. - You make me wish that I was 40 years younger again back with MY hens, bees & rabbits. Cheers.
What everyone else is saying...we came for the narrowboating and we stayed for you guys. Kudos to following your heart, and thanks for bringing us along. :)
Guys I am so looking forward to this spring and summer watching you turn your piece of land into something gorgeous. Take care and congratulations to you both and Otis of course, he seems to love galloping all over the place.
Everything you two do is wonderful and most importantly, honest. It is so apparent that this move is the right thing for all of you. It is another chapter in your book and we are thrilled to be taken along on your journey. Be well and have fun! Thank you guys for just being you. X
Colin, I’ve always said that Scotland was the only place I’ve ever been where my brain “shut down” and let me relax fully. Good on you and Sean for finding a new love!
Let’s be honest, you two are what makes the channel popular, regardless of your activities! Be it canal explorers, or gentlemen farmers, the appeal is the same. Should your bees make enough Foxy Honey to be marketable, I’d definitely be happy to purchase on line 😋. I agree!
Richard you said what I wanted to say and more eloquently
Gentlemen farmers. That's it lads, get the Tweed jackets and plus-fours out of storage. 😂
Well said, Richard - I concur wholeheartedly! Onward and upward, lads!
Just enjoy yourselves as lots of others have said you two and particularly Otis make the channel. One question I do have, the chickens have the hen house, the bees have the hive but do you have somewhere to live? All the very best to you all.

What an exciting time ahead of you, bees, hens, livestock and vegetables. Love the red squirrel in your video and the cattle.
Love that you two are starting a new chapter. The channel has always been you two...not a boat. Peace and best of luck on the new adventure

It’s wonderful seeing all the fauna and flora. Do what makes you happy. Otis seems to love it too. 💕
Thanks again Guys and Enjoy more Daylight, take care, XX
Loving your new adventures so much.
Scotland is stunning!
Foxes afloat forever x
Mental health is KEY! Good for you for listening to your soul. Besides, who wouldn't absolutely fall in love with Scotland?

Hi guys,as long as you are both having a good time and Iiveing the dream, you made a great job of the path, can't wait to see it come together, have a great week all the best to you both and of course a pat and a treat for Otis (who looks really happy)
Look forward to your next video
Best wishes to you both.
Thank you!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Colin and Shawn...do you know how much courage it takes to examine your life path and then make the necessary changes to correct your path??? Even though I don't personally know you, I am so proud of the two of you; first for making that decision and second for supporting each other in the process. This is such a big deal and I wish you all the best. Thank you for pulling us along with you.
Yes, I recorded music from the radio on cassettes and screamed (I can't say that) at the presenters who started talking before the song was over. I was so mad...
I won't tell you, what to do. You already are doing, what I want! 🤣
It's just my luck that you create content, that I enjoy. And as long as you enjoy what you do, I'm happy to be allowed to follow you through a part of your life.
Like Otis: These are my humans? GREAT! They live on a boat? GREAT! They live in Scotland? GREAT! They (will) have chickens? GREAT!.....etc... 😁
Have a wonderful week!
That empty space next to the path, flowers for the bees, of different kinds that blooms all season long.
Hi guys
Oh what a breath of fresh air in Scotland, even Otis is having a ball.
Lovely pictures of all the wild animals you have around you
Looking forward to seeing the chickens 🐓 and the bees 🐝
How exciting
Liked listening to you Colin relaxing on the water talking about ya change from boat to land. Great choice
Have a great weekend
Love Kim x x
Love to see what your home is like , even from outside. I think you two are so adventurous, keep the spirit alive and enjoy .
A truly wonderful vlog, we love being part of your new life. Enjoy doing what is best for yourselves, and we will enjoy it with you all. See you again tomorrow. 💕🐾xxx
Darling Foxes....it is you that makes it work....canals, flowers, chicken or goats....just don't stop. Hugs from Myrtle Beach, USA
I absolutely love Colin's sweater!
Otis really seems to be enjoying himself. Hope the new adventure goes well. It will be interesting to see it all progress.
Absolutely love the direction you’re going. Our very best wishes. Tina and Trevor.
Thanks so much!
I'd love two donkeys.
We've had geese, a dog to protect the birds, and cats to keep the mice/rats down. All your critters need "friends" to keep them safe.
@@FoxesAfloat my micks family had donkeys they use to provide the beach rides for the kids in walton on the naze. Mick says donkeys are great characters.
Lama's or alpacas are great guardian animals
@@BadlydrawnBen Very good at letting you know when there are foxes around!
Ha! Cracking week! They certainly will when they get their hens😍🤣🤣
Thank you for sharing your new adventures, living the good life in the Scottish Highlands. Can't wait to hear more from Foxes aground. XXX
Thank you!! 😊
Oh! this is so exciting!! You are living my dream: having land in Scotland (or any European countryside) and creating a 'farm' and homestead. So looking forward to your educational vlog creations as they develop. God Bless You all!!! Otis looks so happy too ;-) yay pup!
Change, ready or not, is a constant. I'll keep tuning in for your continued adventures. All the best.
Thank you Colin, I have searched all your blogs looking for where you tell us why you moved to Scotland and at last here it is. 👍👍
Wow You are both bursting with excitement and infectious enthusiasm; it is wonderful to be vicariously part of it.
Can't wait to see what you create along the way ❤🤍💙
I just think of you as the Silver Foxes. We love watching you both what ever you do, just keep it coming x
Ottis looks so happy with all the space to run free!
You've made a small part of the world, your piece of heaven. It only takes a seed to make a tree, Then you grow a forest, then you make a house, then you make a village. The future is going to be grand!!!!!
Love what you’re doing in Scotland. Can’t wait to see more.
This is fantastic. A new episode in your life. Most exciting for us all. I'm looking forward to seeing your journey... ❤🇦🇺
New horizons..and it's clear..otis is out of his mind..with happiness..I fully love your change of direction..BRILLIANT 👏
What a lovely video and beautiful animal and insect shots as well. Otis seems super happy on the land… as do you both! I’m so happy for you being willing to change your journey for YOUR needs. It’s so exciting! Love and hugs to you both! 💜
My favourite couple. Have a great weekend.
Just a beautiful story unfolding
Nice job on understanding your true needs and changing your lifestyles. You two are awesome!
I am so excited for you both in your new adventures! I loooooved the kayak talk, please do that again, so entrancing. So good to see you all so happy!
Enjoy and treasure every single minute of your new adventure. Congratulations!
You two do what is best for you both, stay well and happy
We watch because we love you guys, it doesnt matter what you are doing its your contagious enthusiasm, love and humour that keeps me comming back
Guys I am so looking forward to this spring and summer watching you turn your piece of land into something gorgeous. Take care and congratulations to you both and Otis of course, he seems to love galloping all over the place.
Thank you xx
Getting the vibe now. You love where you are. You love what you are doing. This is going to be really fun. Welcome to Foxland. I loved this film❤️.
You guys are fun to watch...whatever you're doing on land or canal or Loch......and so on and so forth. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!
❤️❤️❤️
