For those who don't know and there is nothing wrong with that, these are the F1 cars of the RC world. I have an Xray RX8 and love it. It gives you an adrenalin rush. They only come in kit form for a reason, you have to maintain them let alone getting it setup. It's worth it.
Setup is my biggest problem. I've gone near entire meeting only to be asked after final qualifying round, having expressed my issues to a fellow racer; "Have you tried raising the front roll centre so many millimeters and changing rear dampers and springs to grey Mugens.?" To which I replied; "No I haven't" He confidently responds; "I've got spare rear shocks, the newer type and springs assembled. I'll lend you mine." My car is now setup. I'm in the D final (not where I had expected to be meeting start). What a difference. I'm not having to turn in unnaturally early to meet a particular infield apex. I can go off throttle much later. No understeer whatsoever. Had I that setup early qualifying, I would have definitely made C final possibly B final.
Amainhobbies, towerhobbies and RC Mart are among the top online shops where you can buy a 1/8th scale kit. Most of those professional racing models come in a kit form only. However if you don't want to assemble the thing, you can buy it used and already built from Ebay. Keep in mind that nitro models are expensive, difficult to set up and maintain so if you are new to RC racing I would suggest an electric vehicle instead - 1/12th scale pan car or 1/10th scale touring car.
Your vehicles will never be as fast on the track no matter what engine you put in because they are off-road models which is a completely different class. The vehicles you see in the video are designed specifically for on-road application. When it comes to engines here are some examples : Novarossi Mephisto (Novarossi is a very famous rc engine company), Ielasi Tuned Raptor, OS Speed R2103. P.S. Your current engine is very good for off-road racing.
