  • I take a walk in the historic Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC and eventually make my way to the Rosslyn Metro Station in Arlington, Virginia. Georgetown is home to many cool shops, restaurants, Georgetown University, and also the site of the Exorcist.

You're all over nowadays! I love visiting DC and the surrounding areas, such a beautiful city especially in the Spring. Last time I was there, they had an earthquake that occurred just as I was exiting the L'Enfant Plaza Metro station and the escalator felt as if it was moving sideways. Stayed at the Four Seasons in Georgetown once, to support my fellow Canadian Issy Sharp, the Four Season's founder.

Where do I even start?? There's so many historical landmarks, and I felt like I traveled back in time. 🤩 The old architectures are impressive to see, and I'm glad they're still around. The brick sidewalks and paths are enticing and brighten up the ambiance, and the streets are really clean. The highlights of this walk are the Old Stone House, Exorcist Stairs and House, Georgetown University, Francis Scott Key Memorial Bridge, and the long escalator ride at the Rosslyn Metro Station. 😍 It's also cool how you can easily cross the bridge from DC to Virginia. Thank you so much for sharing this informative and historical walk, AK! 🤗

The old stone ho use is considered the oldest house in Georgetown. Georgetown is not named after George Washington. I'm so glad you're going to see other areas of DC. When you go to the waterfront you will pass over the historic Cheseapeake and Ohio canal. As I said about your first video of DC, it would be very helpful to read about the area before you start talking about it. When you "wing it" you state a lot of things that are very inaccurate. Again, this is meant to be constructive suggestions, not just to criticize. Again I'm glad your seeing other parts of DC, than just the main downtown area.

Been thru DC area many times but just passing thru in cars. never had the time to stop and see the sites. Great tour of Georgetown University. Oh I'm probably not the onlt one to correct you on the pronunciation of the Potomac River, It''s not "Tom" its Po-tuh-mac. as in Toe. that ought to settle the "politically correct viewer ha ha. Not that I'm one. All right so I am. but I did see my name flash by on that Mechanical Van that passed you on the first leg of your journey. Hello ActionKid! Thanks for showing the Exorcist house and stairs. You may have noticed that the house and stairs are separated from each other. When The Exorcist was shot, they built an extension onto the house so that Regan's bedroom would be directly above the stairs for the climactic scene when Father Karras leaps through the window and tumbles down the steps to his death.

I know this is a bit late but I've just found your videos here and I'm just catching up. I really enjoyed this one because I'm a local - having lived here now for over 60 years. The craziest part of that is that I went to high school just outside of Georgetown (all the way back in the 60's) and it was my and my friends favorite place to hang out. Best shops, restaurants, clubs, etc. Once I was out of school I got a job working in Rosslyn and I was there when the Metro was built. We used to hear alarms go off and we knew it meant that they were blasting down in that massive hole and we would be feeling the shaking. (Rattled the buildings AND your nerves!) I worked in a building that was next door to the famous garage where Bob Woodward met with Deep Throat during the post Watergate days. I was also there when the film crews showed up - with Robert Redford and Hal Holbrook - to film those scenes in All the President's Men. I also remember looking across the river from the office (we were up in one of the high rises there) and seeing the klieg lights over in Georgetown while they were filming The Exorcist. They were all fun, heady days and even though I'm still close by, it's been years since I've been there. It was nice making the visit with you! (By the way - the reason Georgetown doesn't have it's own Metro stop is because the rich residents of Georgetown refused to give permission to have the stop put in there. They didn't want their streets crammed with tourists. I do believe that they have regretted that decision since then.)
Like you, I love the architecture of Georgetown. May I suggest a future stop to visit here is old town Alexandria. You said something in the video about being surprised that the old stone building was still there. You'll find that around here we specialize in preserving old places (at least as much as possible.) Old Town reflects that. When DC was originally created, land was donated from both Maryland and Virginia. Most of the Virginia donation ended up going back to Virginia and is part of Old Town. We're big on preserving history!

Loved Washington tour. Very nice, felt very familiar to us and like British towns. Lots of independent shops which was very good. In UK a town is highly regarded if it has lots of quality independents rather than chainstores. We also laughed (not at you) when you said it was like going back to the 1700's as it's like many UK towns today. The block paving is quite modern in UK. We have much older buildings in UK but we understand it was very new for you and for us too to see. We enjoyed it very much thank you.

Hey Kenneth, you were in my town! Had no Idea. Gallaudet U is not far from me I'm west of there, and live closer to Catholic U, Howard U. You walking through that portion of Georgetown really does like like some place totally different from Washington, DC in general. Very historical. Arlington, VA (Arlington, National Cemetery, etc.) is just right over the Potomac River over Key Bridge off M Street NW. DC just had the cherry blossom festival and this weekend, Japanese festival. Rob with Walk Ride Fly visited DC several times during the Presidential election Biden/Harris and when the area was full of blockades because of the US Capitol Building insurgent. Georgetown Cupcakes used to be on a TV reality show. I see the lines still forming outside. Used to go home from Arlington, VA right over Key Bridge (Rosslyn) into DC, to my home in NE, DC, and would drive up that street past that shop. So you walked to Rosslyn metro. The company I work for was right up the street, now in Falls Church, VA, about few miles down from Rosslyn. 🤗

When you are in District of Columbia, you are not in America. You are in a sister City-State aligned with Vatican City (Holy Roman Catholic Church) and Westminster City of London (Crown Corporation)

Arlington VA is a pretty neat modern city … pretty nice. And Georgetown had that old charm … looks very British. Nice stuff. Wow … America is massive

Georgetown looks very similar to old town Alexandria. Slaves were sold right off M Street, close to Potomac River. Black people populated (lived) in Georgetown at one time.

BTW the quote about your mother in hell is actually from the movie The Exorcist. Don't think it was meant to be personal, lol!
