    Reality Chip gives so much value

  • @Korwinga
    @Korwinga 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Reality chip seems a little bit like a worse future sight. Splitting the mana cost up across two turns can be nice, but the fact that it makes it vulnerable to creature removal is big, and just opens the card up to a lot of counter play. I did like seeing it go off when it worked though. Tons of fun.

    • @9sharps
      @9sharps 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the main appeal over Futuresight is that it's 2 Mana + LED. That being said, a playset is probably not super necessary

    I fell in love with the chip during spoilers, and built a pretty rad commander deck out of the Jellyfish Equipment.
    The card is already seeing some modern play and looks surprisingly powerful. I can't wait to see where else it pops up!

    Yeah I got the feeling that Reality Chip could have been Faithless Looting/blue cantrips, maybe chromatic star, or something of that ilk and been more useful. It's a cool card, but 5 mana is a big investment in a 9 land deck.

  • @marcbauerett1232
    @marcbauerett1232 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    At 11:27 you could've sacced the Fiery Islet and drawn the Echo. This way you get to dig deeper and save one mana when flashbacking with the LED.
    Nontheless very interesting deck and keep up the great content.

    cracking LED in response to gamble would have just discarded your burning wish, so you´d have to get echo there and pray (which wouldn´t work cause of voidwalker, so you couldn´t crack LED there)

    I thought that Reality Chip would be to cumbersome to get online!😱

  • @basementninja676
    @basementninja676 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think a pivot into creatures like wild cantor, tinder wall, and Burning-Tree Emissary that refund themselves, over cards that can't be cashed in later like ornithopter might be a good idea for this deck. The downside is that with tinder wall and wild cantor, your reality chip now costs 6 mana, instead of 5, to get online, but I think that's a good trade-off for having creatures that aren't completely useless without a reality chip or a storm payoff. You could even steal some pauper tech and play reaping the graves in the wishboard.
    I think hurting your artifact count for chrome mox is a somewhat real downside, but pivoting out of that angle might help the deck a bit anyway, it felt like 4 was the wrong number of chome mox for this brew.
    (btw decklist is the wrong link)

    This deck rarely utilizes reality chip. Although not sure there is a good shell to optimize it. Chip needs ward 1 to be better, as is may be too weak for the format

    While we’re on red Storm lists, have you thought about Invoke calamity in Red storm, even if it was in modern/pioneer? Especially since you should be able to chain invoke calamity into Hazoret’s fury into more calamity!

    My cEDH Elsha of the Infinite deck essentially works like this, Birgi + Chip configured on her + Sensei's Divining Top is a variation on the same Top Storm infinite combo where you draw your whole deck, then pitch it to GY with LED for Underworld Breach shenanigans (even though thats banned in Legacy, RIP)

    I think you won one game with The Reality Chip and got frustrated that it couldn’t imprint on Chrome Mox in three. 🙁 Without it in the deck, you could play baubles instead of Ornithopter/Memnite, so it seems like this isn’t the perfect home for it. 😭

    These combo decks are good but their so boring. And everyone who plays em can't stand to see a game till the end. When you concede you still are loosing lol they act like their winning the game w the concede button.... Online play is ruining mtg.

      Idk, I think online play kept MTG alive during the pandemic. It deserves at least a little credit!
