What I did is screen record a video that had the music section I wanted to use so that I didn’t have to go looking for it and possibly getting it wrong.
I use a mic and record it directly off the IG into DaVinci. Then edit it to the beat and export without audio and just line it up. Most of the sounds I use default start point cause it’s trending there anyways. I find this super fast and no extra steps to rip the sound, both these ideas work great! Thanks for this video, got a couple little tips I hadn’t thought of!
well yeah ! i download the music on youtube or wherever. then i use it in my edit on premiere. when its time to post on instagram i tag the song from the instagram library and i put the volume to zero. so my shot is edited and syncronized during edit, and the song is still tag so my reels appear in the list with the other one that share the same song. :)
I searched for hours for anyone speaking to this type of workflow. I started to think I was crazy or that there was some mad gatekeeping going on or something lol Thank you thank you this was exactly what I was working for 🙏🙏🙏
😂 you made this comment a year ago and your statement is still true! As soon as I stopped searching for this topic yt then decided to send me this vid in my suggestions today. How shady of them 😂.
Oh my gosh I have been searching for information on this for like FIVE HOURS!!! I am extremely thankful for this video haha. Even two years later it seems instagram still operates in a similar way. The only added struggle is I’m going to be uploading dance covers, so that’s some added precision required for music alignment between recording, an external editor, and instagram reel audio 🙈
Well, Dunna Did It again - this video is extremely timely for me since my client just asked me to start building TikTok videos and IG Reels. I was scratching my head on how to establish a workflow knowing that I wanted to use a Non-Linear-Editor (Premiere in my case) and still be able to sink up some trending audio. Look no further - Dunna to the rescue!! 😎👍
Hi Dunna! Great video as always, but if I may add my input, I use a slightly easier method that I actually discovered by chance!😄 IG automatically recognize the audio/song that you use in your reels, and it does even better if you write the title of the song you used in the last step of posting it. So, when I want to use a certain song, I find the title, I download it from anywhere like TH-cam etc. just to have the entire track so that the actual editing/sync is easier. Make my reel, upload, write the title of the song I used, post it, and actually IG always tells me that "we added your reel to the XY song page" (or smth like that). Et voilà, it's not very different from your way of doing it but it gives you more space for action with the editing of the song. 👋
I've been doing the same. I think the only issue with this method is that the audio quality would be lower since the final reel will be using a song downloaded from youtube. When ig recognizes the song automatically, it doesn't overwrite your audio. I think that's good though because it allows you to manipulate the audio a bit in the edit if you want and will still be recognized.
@@hellohogo You're completely right, in fact it is absolutely necessary to specify that first the song on IG must be searched and then you can choose the method you like best. :)
One thing that this allows is the ability to use the remixed versions of songs that are nowhere to be found (in my brief search for certain ones). However you are correct...when they are popular songs for the most part, the audio is recognized and it's added in the Audio section of the reel automatically. Great tips on all fronts gents!
This was the MOST helpful video I've seen. Especially saving a blank video as a draft to get the music lined up just right. I like using my phone for consuming content...but for editing, I prefer my laptop w/ bigger screen so I can adjust whatever I need. The trending audio was always the tricky part & I had been using music from Epidemic Sound before watching this tutorial. Thank YOU for this tutorial!!
I just came across your channel because of this video. This video was very helpful for me. Exact what I was looking for. I spent an hour going through many other videos and they are all great and well-produced. Thank you and keep up the amazing work
Great tip on keeping the rell audio to 1. I'll try that one now. Previously, I tried putting the reel's sound all the way down to '0' and upon posting it, my reel was not added to the audio page. Let's see!
This has been super helpful! I used to record the audio by playing it on my phone and having FCPX record it, but it still posed problems with syncing. Your method works so well! Thank you!!
"Ooops, Dunna did it agaaainnha!" Thanks buddy, it's nice to see that I'm not the only crazy one doing this whole workflow, relieving😌 I found a problem with IG audio mix page too. I often blend the original audio (only ambient sounds, voiceover, etc) with a song from IG, let's say 50% my audio and 80% IG song and save them so they're ready to be uploaded. The issue is that when I open the saved draft again later on, the original audio is always down to 0% and I have to re blend it with the IG song again, which is pretty annoying as I have to figure out the desired amount again. In a way, it feels like IG is telling me "Hey mate, it's gotta be now or never so upload your bloody video now as I won't recall your audio percentage settings!" 😂
I just found a new hack while watching your video. This is actually a developer hack but what you can do is inspect the audio on your laptop/computer and then just download the audio from the audio src. It just very simple. But though it is a developer hack many won't get it.
Ahhhh man I was so stuck trying to integrate IG audio into just a portion of my reel (not the whole thing), the slider trick is so simple yet it's genius! Terrific video bro!
In this case, can you also creste a draft, download the same song off youtube, edit the video, edit the draft, lower the instagram reel music volume and hit publish?
It’s just a png of an iPhone with a screen record behind it. The first part where there’s no red screen record is because I plugged it into my computer and recorded using QuickTime.
I appreciate this, I have a few clients asking to use these tracks in their IG shorts. Super helpful and exactly what I was looking for. Cheers, hope you're enjoying VI.
Great stuff! I actually came up with that same methods but on occasions I faced the following issue: after some time IG tells me the music protected by copyright and it forces me to select another audio, or if I try to boost the reel it tells me I must chose another audio. Any idea how to avoid this sort of problem while still using trending audio? Thanks!
Loooove this video!! Saving the spot as drafts when screenrecording is such a game changer 😂 I always did the work of lining it up again and damn that was such a pain 🙈 but this tip is great! Thank you so much 🙏🏻
Hey, AWESOME video. I have a question. I've tried recording the screen with the sound option turned on but it also record the ambient noise from the room i'm in. PLease can you show how i record just the sound from the phone? Thanks
Why am I just seeing this dude... You just gave me the ultimate hack... I owe you a beer/coffee or any drink of your choice 😂 Happy Early New Year brother!
You can also download the song, edit it on your editing software, export it. Then you use your song on your reel post, controls volume, Original audio: 100 Music:1
Cheers man! One question to anyone, what’s up with the sound effects? Can you bring them over so that you can hear it while the song from instagram is on?
Does this work in terms of copyright infringement of the use of audios without crediting the artist? I am worried my page will be deleted because of this. Thanks so much great video 😊
Hello :) great video. I have managed to follow the steps you've mentioned in the video, but when I want to delete the placeholder video, I'm missing the left arrow :( What can I do from here? How can I delete it? Thank you :)
Things have changed a bit in the app since I made this. If you click to where you're previewing the video and you have the options for fx and such at the top, you can click on the clip preview at the bottom, click again on the clip (beside the + sign) and then it says delete at the bottom. Hopefully that helps!
No way, this is how I've been doing my videos as well, only difference is I find the full song instead of getting it off reels, just makes it easier to line up
Is there a different way that you like to edit to the sounds from IG Reels or Tik Tok?
What I did is screen record a video that had the music section I wanted to use so that I didn’t have to go looking for it and possibly getting it wrong.
I use a mic and record it directly off the IG into DaVinci. Then edit it to the beat and export without audio and just line it up. This is literally how I been editing my reels, I thought I was the only one 😂
well yeah ! i download the music on youtube or wherever. then i use it in my edit on premiere. when its time to post on instagram i tag the song from the instagram library and i put the volume to zero. so my shot is edited and syncronized during edit, and the song is still tag so my reels appear in the list with the other one that share the same song. :)

it's crazy the built in Reel tools are so bad it's necessary at all. so unintuitive
I cannot agree more. I was in the exact same condition. That’s just the tuto I needed. Than you Dunna
😂 you made this comment a year ago and your statement is still true! As soon as I stopped searching for this topic yt then decided to send me this vid in my suggestions today. How shady of them 😂.
Me too 🥲
Currently in the same situation
Saving the audio to a draft reel is just genius!
Agreed, I audibly said “damn” and nodded my head at that point 😂

This helped me so much tnx. Nobody was actually explaining how to download music from THE REELS TO YOUR COMPUTER you were the only one tnx a lot!
Thank you! I was struggling so bad with the voice over on insta and didnt want to loose using the original audio!
Hey does that 'delete' option still there? Because I don't found that on my Instagram
My gosh, how did I not know Apple had a native screen recording app.... thank you!!
BRO! Thank you! I've been struggling with exporting my videos from davinci for AGES!! Thank you!!!
I have been struggling too much from using trending sounds in an Instagram app. But I found this video helpful. Thanks. 😀

We have come a full circle from recording songs from TV or radio with our phones 15 years ago to recording IG music with our screen recording
this is brilliant and easy, thank you for this concise and informative video

Great video - this is loaded with advice beyond what the title suggests. Thanks for putting this together.
Nice! What about frame rate affecting audio? Screen record is only 30ps and 60 I think.
Really really good old one trick which can be used now also 🔥
SO HELPFUL! Thank you so much!
