That works for you because you already had a good follower base that boost something you post right away. If you have a small following you can post 2-3 times a day for months (yes, I have friends doing this) and grow nothing while thousands of people see you reels.

NOTHING, nothing happens because the algorithm is BUSTED

I’m doing reels every single day, its just a hobby and I don’t want to stress myself to it. Yes the views are unpredictable sometimes it goes up sometimes its down. But I don’t care. I had a lot fun making reels. My niche is all about food snacks

Thanks so much for your honesty is saying that this "may or may not" work for us too! So many on TH-cam try to tell you that you can for certain do what they did too, and it is frustrating to see that all the time. Thanks for putting a realistic spin on your videos!

Interesting experiment. The results are so good. I like what you said that this process forced you to be creative every day. Consistency matters. Yet, I would prefer batch creating the content for some weeks ahead, it takes away the stress 😉

Yeah I agree for sure! I’ve gotten a bit better about shooting with more purpose and having footage for a few reels every time I go out. That way it’s just editing whenever I’ve got tome

Great video 👍 I think I got a bit numb over the past few years when it comes to growth on social media. Ultimately it doesn’t really help when it comes to the money department because these platforms rarely pay well. So at the end of the day it is promotion for another product or a fun side project. And if you are like me and don’t have a product to promote, you begin to wonder why you even become a algorithm slave for your fun side project. Not worth it.
I honestly believe that we are slowly approaching a point where many creators will burn out and seek other avenues because these algorithm focused platforms just suck the soul out of any creator who wants to take it seriously long-term.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk!

I have no idea what your channel is about but you’ve hooked me to subscribe from this single video. Instagram is endlessly frustrating and can take far too much time but I’m trying to be more consistent and trying not to spend too much time on it. Nothing is more frustrating than a reel that takes forever to create then it flops 🙃

This is the best video about reels so far.. yeah I don't want to dance or lipsync and crap. I don't even want to be on camera.. which I know doesn't help. I'm not an on camera person. I'm just on there to promote my books. Thanks for sharing this.

I can believe it. I've never gotten the reach back I had from 2019-2020. When I post, 25 people like it 😮‍💨I've been meaning to give video a chance but I hadn't dedicated time to it
I made a simple reel at an event, and every DAY I'm getting notifications of more and more views from people who aren't even following me. That must be how they have reels set up

  • @Natec_photo

I definitely like the side of the reels where it forces me to be creative, make content and edit the videos. Doing these things as much as you did is definitely going to improve your skills just simply because you are creating something every day. But on the other hand, they do take a lot of time to produce especially when it’s not what I do for a living. They are super fun though! 👍🏼

All what you've said above sounds exactly what I keep noticing is what makes a creative content successful on Instagram. But for someone who is an artist who creates work that takes days, it's hard to post it in real-time every single day. Another artist mentioned to me here on TH-cam that documenting your process is exactly what I could do instead... and not just for the dopamine hit ones. Right now I just want to take a break off of Instagram for now, re-strategize and prepare my documented/recorded work to get back on Instagram AND TikTok for about a month like a marathon for 30 days straight. These days you can't just do one reel but 3 to 4 reels a day to get that 100k to a million... and if the viewers are that hungry for content, I can't wait for that algorithm to switch back to interest-based focus and not just social-only focused. This is what I'm hearing right now: they're changing the algorithm again back to where it used to be. Cross all fingers for that.

This is video is everything. I have made 2 of the same videos, and like you said, they both did differently. It was so odd. I definitely grew more in March when I was posting 5x a week vs now posting 2-3 times a week. But I kind of want to try posting 5x a week again, but I know I was burnt out asf by the end of March and April I just felt like a potato.

I think twitter is old news. And another great benefit of this is that it forces you to let go of perfectionist tendencies, because, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can be a full perfectionist, and post every day for 30 days. Great video! I appreciate the well-considered points. Thanks :)

So aftrer that, i started posting more reels put more effort and time to make the quality better but those videos were surfing in between 5k-10k views. Fun fact, it took me only 5 mins in total to make the 500k viewed video. 😂😂😂

I have so much trouble getting my head around the vertical quick vidz craziness. It's just a lot of work and time even more so if you're not a full time creator that's already editing all day. I mean you could waste 2h a day for a random result and impact just to feed an unpredictable algorithm. My heart wants to resist this concept , my head kinda wants to give in 😆 . Great vídeo as always Dunna. My thought is just One. IG is going to be in the future a tool for showing our work. Like sharing to someone the profile for them to take a look. Its just takes a lot of priceless time (yep, including our family) for "Nothing".
I just simply multiply the IG QR code in sheets, cut little squares and deliver on Hand to people in the street to the ones might be interested and present the page, human to human. But Thats just me. Have a great hug from Lisbon!

Interesting video Dunna, i realize the insane difference in views with reels compared to photos as well. I think I'll start to post 1 reel a week or so from now on.
Usually I get about 200 views for a picture and reels I'd get about 2000.

Great video Dunna!! I've been postponing doing this experiment for a long time, as I thought about producing maybe a week of content ahead of time to have some buffer, can't edit one every single day... The loop thing really worked for me in the past also, it's a great tip! I'll try making 7 in the upcoming days, and if I manage I'll start my 30 day challenge also :))))

That's what's wrong with these algorithms now. You have to post every day or very often, and yes people see you but at that rate what you post can't have quality and then people don't follow you.

Gotta keep in mind that Meta wants to make users think they can get additional engagement by paying for promoting content to other users. So they’ll boost one post, give you a little bit of a taste of what it’s like, and then they pull the plug on other content to make you think that you gotta pay to boost your content.

I struggled for a while to keep up with the creation posting grind. I ended up tweaking 7 story-styled templates in After Effects into 8-sec comps. Some are loops, and others are not. They all have a master text file, and master placeholders so when I go thru the effort to make one full-length recipe video for TH-cam, I only have to export two 8-second clips and a couple stills to end up with 7 unique reels to post. Set it up in a scheduling app and boom... my monthly calendar is quickly filling up. Currently testing spacing them out at 8-day intervals for each master
