Projectile speed on the quiver can be a massive dps buff with the tree we have, it can roll quite high plus the bonuses from quiver and the node translates that all into a damage buff

If you need more intelligence and can’t afford to change your current attribute nodes in the passive tree, Dexterity and Intelligence lines on gear are good substitutes while figuring out more long term solutions, one of my chest piece’s suffixes is currently a high rolled dexterity line just to keep my Dex above 212 and Int above 95
I still use it all the time for essence rares, since you can setup all your rods under them, pop it, roll backwards and fire salvo to insta it. Also just nice to have for when you need a burst of damage at things that aren't on screen.

Lower level spirit gems won’t change anything mana wise, only using lowest level ball lightning/orb of storms matters, the rest should be the highest your mana can handle
Have you tried Leech % of physical attack damage as mana? Curious if this would solve mana issues. I have a ring with 10% and may look for a 2nd with it if so.

Do you think its viable to include herald of ice as well for more convenient mob clear? Just by adding some cold damage to attacks on gloves or quiver, perhaps swapping between thiefs torment and polcirkeln ring for bosses and mobbing
I didn't really see a reason to bother, everything just dies instantly so I felt the loss doing anything with ice damage would have for the overall didn't really make sense, especially when we can just stun anything with electrocuting arrow if its really necessary.
This can only be used before enemies deal chaos damage, and you have to focus on covering resistances, attributes, mana recovery, etc with your gear, or use two rings to help.
had no issues with chaos damage, if you have enough life to not be 1 shot it doesn't really matter, just don't take maps that say bonus % damage as chaos

Quiver effect is extremely expensive but it’s the best to get 20% of, besides that any good damage increases like bow damage, projectile speed, projectile damage, attack speed. Then I prefer 1 10% lightning pen to cap it.
The trade market is important for accelerating your gear and upgrades, without it everything will naturally take much longer as you'll need to craft it all yourself.
How do you feel about running galvanic shards on crossbow to activate rods? Seems to have insane dps but I’m only lvl 40 maybe lightening arrow will out scale?
Haven’t tried it, the main activators for the rods end up being ball lightning and orb of storms on bosses with very little time to use lightning arrow at all.
I have an early game to initial endgame version of this build on my channel with it's own mobalytics page, it's focused on the early game setup and earlygame building, where this is focused on post endgame. You can use either but they are both more centralized to a specific progression point, like how cast on shock isn't popping off till the end of cruel.
Hi I have been following your build as close as i can at lvl 68 but the COS ball lightning is not nuking bosses at all? Is there something obvious I am missing? Have decent gear but not BIS.
are you putting voltaic on the boss? are you electrocuting the boss when possible ontop for even more shock chance? could be alot of things, i'd have to see the gear, can discuss further if you drop me an @ in my discord in the Path of Exile section
Extreme noob here, maybe I missed it but can you explain to me why we’re getting increases to physical damage when like all of our abilities are lightning? Thanks!
Lightning Arrow and Lightning Rods both convert your Physical Damage to Lightning Damage, so we want to scale Physical over Elemental damage. Also Orb of Storms is ONLY used to PROC Lightning Rods, so we don't care about its actual damage, only the interaction it provides.
How do you get to 150 int for cast on shock? Would be cool to see your character screen/see you attributes. Im not sure if i can reach 150int without dropping too much in dex. I have about 280 dex and only 35 int.
@@jackasad2180 Ball Lightning will come from Cast on Shock. You slot the skill Ball Lightning into Cast on Shock as if it were a Support Gem. Cast on Shock is a passive that triggers its spell (BL) when you gain Energy - and you gain energy from Shocking enemies. The Rods and Orb of Storms shock the enemy.
Trash packs just drop a lightning rod and blast it with a lightning arrow, if it takes more then that double up the rods then start shooting arrows, if you need more then that, put voltaic mark on them then do as above. Against stuff like Breach at the beginning and Ritual, throw down your orb of storms and set the stage with 4 casts of rods before starting
Ive watched quite a handful of ranger optimization builds in the last week and imo ive taken the best of each and made my own frakenstein version. I found the problem with lightning only is CC (or lack of) on solo mapping. So its important to run ice shot+wall with cast on crit or cast on freeze. Rods plus orbs/balls are still the main boss nuker. But really ive only kept those two from lightning skils
@@Hoolagun same here. Except now I run herald of ash and grim feast. Ash is great for clear and my ES gets up to 2.5k when mapping. Really helps survivability
@@Thebuird Nice thats a good alternative for spirit buffs. I found that herald of ice compliments the ice build because the tree already buffs cold damage if going tornado+ice shot combo. It deletes packs better than lightning imo. And enemies cant attack you if they're frozen or behind a wall. I was testing cast on dodge, seeing as we need to proc evasion boosts, then tried cast on freeze because we freeze in one or two shots, but landed on cast on crit using eye of winter but still on the fence if CoF is better.
Wild Storm is 15% more max damage, lightning damage has some extreme variance so it’s likely more damage then essence still, but not by a ton and shock chance is extremely overpowered in its own right
Just thinking about it further the 30% shock chance when we’ve already got tons of shock chance stacked likely isn’t going to contribute more DPS then the extra DPS gained through Wild Storm, that being said, I’m thinking about moving some passives around to just get Wild Storm without an Anoint, while essence is far from obtainable
2,100, but with 91% evasion I’m only dying to AoE if I’m not paying attention. I’m only playing delirium tier 15s and only die maybe once out of 8 hours of mapping. We’re basically immune to projectiles so all it takes is a bit of focus not running into puddles
what a shocking discovery dude, i had to set an 800 lumens lightbulb on my room to counter the flash of them balls being triggered holly fuck i cant even shot at the rods in time before everything is dead
Hi there i was building this but i notice something on cast on shock, when u add the "inspiration" assist it does say it doesn't support cast on shock, found few more like that too like "wind dancer" the blind gems says it doesnt support wind dancer, so how do i make this all work togueter ? plz help
The pasive tree isnt updated, isnt? I mean, next to the node "heartstopper", they added some juicy nodes, from the lighting build. Electrotherapy add 5% skill speed and 30 electrocute buidlup, plus 26% lighting dmg and 20% electric buildup from the previous 3 nodes

I just don’t get it man. With ball lightning in cast on shock, I apply a voltaic mark and drop lightning rods and maybe I’d get one ball lightning out of 50 lightning rods cast
@EravinVT so max quality orb of storms chains +3 times...just so you know 😘 With overabundance at max it means 14 chains bahahaha Other ideas: culling strike on voltaic mark, giving the nova culling to help with bulky clear speed
Here's a thought, and it could totally be a stupid one: Could you do this build but with the Stormweaver instead? Stormweaver scales damage with a ton of mana and mana regen... Not that you'd need to as this build is clearly fine but out of curiosity.... would it be possible? I know you'd have to trade projectile damage for straight lightning damage nodes instead but would it matter?
Could experiment with it, I'd have to try it and see. The extra projectile from Deadeye is pretty bonkers with how it's doubling the ball lightning though
@EravinVT Absolutely. I'm playing basically this same build right now and it's so nice in early maps. I was a victim of the cast on freeze comet nerf on my sorc and haven't played it since. That's what.. "sparked" my curiosity haha. Since Monk is easier to level with lightning arrow than the monk abilities right at the start.
Need more shock chance/ damage, More damage = more shock chance, watch out for maps that say ailment resistance. Also it’s only going to activate *alot* against rares/bosses
dualstring bows i find when i search for your recomandations are far weaker in terms of dps then others. but i guess its all about the +1 arrow (+1 rod), right? or is it smart to use another bow with more dps and also +1 arrows shot suffix? edit: saw this qoute to late in your written guide "Dual Strings are meta for many builds and very expensive, Try to craft on them any chance you get and make sure to check for other bows that just have the extra arrow as a roll, as those are much less often checked on the trade site. Shoot for a bow with over 300 base DPS, anything past that is just saving seconds as you'll already delete screens."
you get as much as you can, but as with most builds using a unique, it's hard to cap it, thankfully chaos damage isn't nearly as relevant in POE2 as POE1 and you can just avoid maps that say "Mobs Deal % Extra Damage as Chaos"
i run herals of lightning and ice at the same time as well as cos and the last oneu said too i forget the name of it but all i have is a chest with 60 spirit and thats more then enough to run all 4 of those passives at once
Ohh hey poe content is back! I'm still doing monk and leveling a witch. That 3rd and 4th ascension dps were insane Currently the meta is magic find and energy shield with mana as life if possible so I don't think it's as op but being able to chunk what looks like 250k in seconds is nice.
I made this build as best as i can as a level 58. I don't have the spirit for Herald and Wind Dancer since i'm using it all for On Shock and i only have 3 gem sockets for every skill, and no matter how much i shock enemies, the ball lightnings doesn't shoot. :\
you only start to see it on trash pulls when you have ALOT of shock chance/damage as well as quality on Herald. You’ll have the spirit from campaign for Herald + CoS and that should make a big difference, I wouldn’t run CoS before getting the full 100 spirit
Herald of Thunder being max quality being 5 potential lightning bolts per enemy in a cascade through the lightning rods is *alot* of shocks, enough that it's beating the nerfs
As always, thanks for the helpful well explained content for both HD2 and now POE2 as well! Now I have a bit of a question about how stacking ele pen really high actually feels damage-wise, because I've avoided taking more than one cluster with about 30% worth of pen, the reasoning being: - not sure that many mobs except ones with resistance mods and maybe in resistant maps as well actually have 60+% resistances to penetrate (usually swap a pen support in for resistant maps anyway) - pen is a good stat on jewels, so you can get it there if needed while spending tree points elsewhere
Penetration is for consistency of performance, having one rare just survive abnormally long can really throw off the flow, while we could raise our overall damage by losing some penetration, I’ve never found it necessary, but I do want those lightning res rares dead, especially with my atlas setup
check my gear on the stream if you’re so convinced it’s millions of divs, the vod is on TH-cam and Twitch. My most expensive item is Thief’s torment which is 6 and almost all the footage in the video is from BEFORE that and last week, so the gear on the stream is better then what was used in the video full stop.
Because it needs lightning rods to keep procing itself but the ball lightning would fire infinitely if it could. It’s a build that’s not going to be nerfed into the dirt as it requires gameplay. People promoting autocast gameplayless builds are setting people up for disappointment as those are first in line for nerfs.

It instantly stuns any boss and they die before their attack animation even starts but yeah this is way too risky in mapping where a fart can kill you

The abilities convert your physical damage to lightning. Higher base physical damage means higher converted lightning damage

wouldnt wild storm be a overall more damage boost than essence? The node does say the ever important "more" dmg.

did some testing comparing the two, Wild Storm is strictly better, more damage and more shock chance by virtue of doing more damage

Lmk the passive tree you try. it doesn’t look horrible getting to that node.
Was very impressed that this was deleting bosses in 2 seconds, then I rewatched... nope- it deletes bosses in ONE second.

Could experiment with it, I'd have to try it and see. The extra projectile from Deadeye is pretty bonkers with how it's doubling the ball lightning though
@EravinVT Absolutely. I'm playing basically this same build right now and it's so nice in early maps. I was a victim of the cast on freeze comet nerf on my sorc and haven't played it since. That's what.. "sparked" my curiosity haha. Since Monk is easier to level with lightning arrow than the monk abilities right at the start.
My cast on shock does not activate no matter what I do. Do you know why this is the case?
Need more shock chance/ damage, More damage = more shock chance, watch out for maps that say ailment resistance. Also it’s only going to activate *alot* against rares/bosses
Also make sure you’re not running electrocute as a support, as that prevents shock being applied by that skill

@KillianBroadcast The lowest skill gem you could use to unlock it is lvl 11 and will require 95 int.
How do you get the 95 intellect to use the skills?
I have a big dexterity roll on my chest piece that lets me use the nodes in my passive tree to get 95 int

dualstring bows i find when i search for your recomandations are far weaker in terms of dps then others. but i guess its all about the +1 arrow (+1 rod), right? or is it smart to use another bow with more dps and also +1 arrows shot suffix?
edit: saw this qoute to late in your written guide "Dual Strings are meta for many builds and very expensive, Try to craft on them any chance you get and make sure to check for other bows that just have the extra arrow as a roll, as those are much less often checked on the trade site. Shoot for a bow with over 300 base DPS, anything past that is just saving seconds as you'll already delete screens."

Why does my shock on cast cost 105 i don't get it its harder to get there.
Higher level skill gem then needed, the lowest level version of the CoS Ball Lightning setup is 95 INT

you get as much as you can, but as with most builds using a unique, it's hard to cap it, thankfully chaos damage isn't nearly as relevant in POE2 as POE1 and you can just avoid maps that say "Mobs Deal % Extra Damage as Chaos"
If you won't lack of mana on bosses, just buy Thies'f Torment ring. This will solve all bossing problems.
i run herals of lightning and ice at the same time as well as cos and the last oneu said too i forget the name of it but all i have is a chest with 60 spirit and thats more then enough to run all 4 of those passives at once

Currently the meta is magic find and energy shield with mana as life if possible so I don't think it's as op but being able to chunk what looks like 250k in seconds is nice.

I made this build as best as i can as a level 58. I don't have the spirit for Herald and Wind Dancer since i'm using it all for On Shock and i only have 3 gem sockets for every skill, and no matter how much i shock enemies, the ball lightnings doesn't shoot. :\
You’re really only going to see it on bosses when you spam rods with orb of storms. You will rarely see it on trash.
you only start to see it on trash pulls when you have ALOT of shock chance/damage as well as quality on Herald. You’ll have the spirit from campaign for Herald + CoS and that should make a big difference, I wouldn’t run CoS before getting the full 100 spirit

We see alot of Lightning orb going true your maps even on normal mobs how is that possible i cast on shock about one orb every minute or so loll..
Herald of Thunder being max quality being 5 potential lightning bolts per enemy in a cascade through the lightning rods is *alot* of shocks, enough that it's beating the nerfs

Now I have a bit of a question about how stacking ele pen really high actually feels damage-wise, because I've avoided taking more than one cluster with about 30% worth of pen, the reasoning being:
- not sure that many mobs except ones with resistance mods and maybe in resistant maps as well actually have 60+% resistances to penetrate (usually swap a pen support in for resistant maps anyway)
- pen is a good stat on jewels, so you can get it there if needed while spending tree points elsewhere
Penetration is for consistency of performance, having one rare just survive abnormally long can really throw off the flow, while we could raise our overall damage by losing some penetration, I’ve never found it necessary, but I do want those lightning res rares dead, especially with my atlas setup
Devs needs to get off their asses and start nerfing all these bullshit, rods, bells, int stacking gloves

check my gear on the stream if you’re so convinced it’s millions of divs, the vod is on TH-cam and Twitch. My most expensive item is Thief’s torment which is 6 and almost all the footage in the video is from BEFORE that and last week, so the gear on the stream is better then what was used in the video full stop.

Because it needs lightning rods to keep procing itself but the ball lightning would fire infinitely if it could. It’s a build that’s not going to be nerfed into the dirt as it requires gameplay. People promoting autocast gameplayless builds are setting people up for disappointment as those are first in line for nerfs.
