    I know this was 6 years ago but the last video I saw of this they didn't make the buzzer sound or the bell.

    You gotta hand it to that tugboat crew. Backing that line of barges to allow the bridge to open, then going forward through the opening.

    The MTA and CDOT need to replace all these bridges with either lift bridges or high level fixed bridges.

      Millions of dollars and years of delays to accomplish that. The Walk bridge replacement will result in two tracks being out of service for at least five years with an overall project cost of over $1 billion.

    I don't understand why they shoved the barge under the bridge and then have to back up for the bridge to open. Clearly the tug wasn't going to pass under it.

      My guess is this was for safety: If the barges began to slip sideways in the channel, they would strike against the bridge's protective pier. The tug had to wait about ten minutes for the bridge to swing open.
