    As a master technician for 30 + years I like these guy`s they do great work and the only dislikes they get are the guys making money and don`t want to share knowledge with anyone. This video to show fit and finish is very good so love you guy`s and god bless! By the way guy`s thank you for what you do for the guy`s that can not afford to get someone to do it for them. I share my knowledge with other also.

    I've watch about 6 videos so far about replacing the bushings and pins. Your tutorial is the only one that explained that the bushings size determines how there are installed. Thanks for the info

    My bottom pin & bushing is less than a centimeter above the front tire rim door jam on my van. May have to take the door off to get the bushing in. But if I put the bushing in the freezer, and lubricate the hole it slides into, it could go in easy without removing the door.

    Watched your video earlier this week and ordered the parts. I tackled the driver's door today. Thanks so much for making the video. It was really helpful. I had a shop replace my pins back in October and they destroyed the bushings. The door snagged worse. Now it's perfect.

    Sweet!! I knew how to do it, but have never done it. You were informative and you dont sound like someone who just watch a video and made one of their own. I do the same process of using a bolt to press or remove bushings. Didnt even think of doing that on my door. I honestly want to do it once and be done with it lol. Thanks man

    Best pin replacement video. Thanks! I used a socket on the bottom that the bushing could just slide through, that way I could press the bushing all the way until it was seated. Thanks again! Best method!

  • @kennethbrock8696
    @kennethbrock8696 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The press worked well. Much easier than hammering it in. Thanks

  • @allangee
    @allangee 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    On your press, replace the two spare bushings with a socket slightly bigger than the hole -- that gives enough room for the press to drive the bushing all the way down and you don't have to risk the hammer.

    I tried doing this yesterday with my buddy. it was very very tedious and a failure - crushed the bushing. All the other vids kept the door in place and I feel like I'm bending the hinges too much. I'm going to try again today and remove the door. Thank goodness for the internet and guys like you or I'd be walking around like a zombie buying bushings till the cows come home. Oh I never saw a cow I'm from Brooklyn NY and really dont need to see a cow. hahahaha. Like the press idea with the 5/16" screw...

    good video. I remember doing this on my 88 camaro with long doors with all the power accessories. Yes, those brass bushings are very soft. I did not have the spring compressor tool so i took it to my body shop and they put the spring in for me. I remember it shot out when i removed it. Had I had that tool it would have been a snap.

    Man, it is so much easier to just remove the door! I did it while someone held the door on a jack and pulled it away from the truck. It took a while and you dont want them to get bored and drop the door. My driver side is replaced but the passenger side needs replacing. I also have to replace the door roller that the stops engage to hold the door open. Mine is completely broken.
    Great video! Thanks for the info!

    Fantastic video. A few years ago I did my '94 Suburban drivers side door without the press and without the spring compressor. It was a nightmare. I now have to do the passenger side, and believe me I am going toi use the toosl you used. One other note, if you have an engine lift, that is a big help with supporting the door; a bit easir to manage than the floor jack and block of wood.

    Great video. Wish you would have commented on roll pin replacement, too. Mine is broken, so I will be replacing it at the same time. I like this method of removing the door, think I will do it that way, looks easier, especially since I'll be replacing the roll pin, too.

    I just finished replacing hinge pins and bushings following these great instructions on the driver door of my 1990 Chevy Silverado 1500. I also replaced the roller pin and spring. After all of this the door still sags and has play when I lift the end of the door up and down. I had someone else lift the door up and down while I observed the hinges. Looks like play between pins and bushings. I used the same Dorman parts with the same part numbers. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for the tips. I think I can employ the same techniques for my Chevy
    Cavalier...I hope. Will test it out at a wrecking yard first, tomorrow. My
    trouble might be the "spring" that press tension for the "two"
    DOOR STOPS so the door don't just fly open in a breeze. I didn't see
    any springs with your door, but my Cavalier has one on each door and
    I'm worried about compression. Thanks Again ScottysDetailing

    Here's some to point out when disconnecting the wires on the doors. If you have a '95-'98/'99 Classic Chevy C/K 1500 with the Silverado trim they are actually three plugs while the '95-'98 C/K 1500 with Cheyenne trim (base model) only has one wire for the door speakers. Other than that very good helpful video.

  • @TorquePowerVideo
    @TorquePowerVideo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good video. I love the positive attitude you put forward. I'd like to make a simple suggestion based on an observation in. The old pins and bushings didn't look that old. Most likely they're Dorman replacements as well. I've done this job once before and I'm about to do it again today. I went with the genuine GM parts both times. I've compared the quality and they're apples and oranges. The GM parts will outlast the Dormans by far so I'd suggest paying the extra money vs having to do the job over again in a couple years.
    Cheers, and keep up the good work.

    Asking reference my 2000 S-10--Could you show how to reinstall the tension spring? The spring on the driver side door just snapped out when the door got caught in the wind. How 'bad' is it for the door if the spring is not replaced? Hate to bother my nephew about making the repair if this can wait a while. Many thanks for all the info.

    • @ScottysDetailing

      You might need to open up the spring collapser tool so that it grabs more of the spring. You might be trying to collapse the spring too close in the coil and it’s putting too much pressure on the ears of the tool.
