Go the electric outboard...Hey Mate, At oyster point is the Petrie formation, It's weathered olivine Basalt down that way Weathers to red soil, cool stuff, No one knows where it came from, mmm I feel a video coming on....Great Vid mate, Hope it does well.
I love that I am still learning of places in the bay from you. I have done eprapah creek before but I never knew of the launch point at Oyster point park. That looks like the paddle across from there would be far more interesting than the one around from Orana esplanade kayak ramp. I think next time I go I will launch from that park. Any advice on what tide? Like is 1/2 tide ok? Also I have a journey like yours that has been cursed for me too, every time I planned it covid shut the borders. So I stopped trying to do it and now we have no more covid haha. (Clarence river canoe trail). Anyway, great video mate.
mate i got there about 2 hrs before high tide. that was pretty good as you know just how tidal it gets. got pretty rough though on return trip so pick a calm day too.
Yeah its not easy to get to either. Possibly if the Marina allowed private boat owners use of their ramp. But they have a big sign up saying private property .do not enter.
@DavoTheDalek possibly could have launched from the beach front walk at Vic point. But you would need 2 people as the breakwater is fairly steep and my kayak is heavy. Further south along the esplanade is easy access. But it's about the same distance as Oyster point only the tide sits much lower there. So my easiest option was Oyster point. There is also a small track that leads to the fishing platform. If you have a kayak cart that might also be an option. But yes as you say. All part of the adventure.
Great scout camp out there. Highly recommended, one of the oldest in Australia and some great history and trails. The bush chapel is awesome.

@@GizmosBushEscapes Ah right. Was there nowhere closer to launch from or was that trip part of the adventure?
