i, like many others, really appreciate the knowledge and wisdom you bring to amateur radio with your channel

You always give us something to get our “gray matter” working on the next antenna project, thanks 😉👍!

interesting ideas to play with, but today the new problem that confronts us now is emf regulation. For those of us with little land it can be a real restriction compared to those with a field at their disposal.

Thank you Peter for a very nice presentation. Now a days it becomes more and more important to look at optimising one's living space due to Estates.
This presentation started me thinking again.

Sir I have to thank you a lot for bringing the half square antenna to my mind.
I built the current fed one for 10m and it worked like a charm.
One aspect I noticed is that (for whatever reason) you should NOT apply any velocity factor.
I calculated it for 28.5 but it was resonant at 29.1... quite a difference.
Also the hight above ground really makes an impact on the SWR.
The higher the verticals dangle above ground the higher the SWR and the higher the resonant frequency.
I got myself 2 cheap 6m fishing rods and am all set so build a "upside down half square" with the verticals going up and the half wavelength phasing wire parallel to the ground.
MMANA-GAL calculations show the phasing wire shouldn't be higher above the ground than 10cm.
By the way, the 10m half square, although current fed in the upper corner and actually a monobander, made a quite usable NVIS dipole for 20m.
The internal tuner of the 991a brought it right in on 1.0 throughout the whole 20m band and I could work stations all over Europe (I'm located in southern Germany near Munich).
    Thank you for your videos.
If you're interested I can provide my findings with the current fed upsidedown version for 20m, as soon as I built it and finished testing.

Very interesting Peter.. thanks . Unfortunately for me I have a very small ( 12 x 12 foot ) shared garden so everything has to be more vertical than horizontal.. trying an efhw on a spidermast ( bought from your good selves ) and a cobweb .. ! .. always like these videos for small gardens .thanks

Thanks Mike. All antennas work in one way or another so whatever so keep at it. 73 Peter

Thanks for this very interesting video. What is the radiation patter for the half quad? Is the takeoff angle similar to a nominal vertical?
EDIT: I just watched your other video about the half square and saw the pattern for it. Thanks for all the informative videos.

Brilliant! One of your best Peter. We have much to learn from our older publications and notes. The laws of physics never change and are as applicable today as they were then. The difference is many hams have forgotten the basics OR were never shown. Thank you for sharing this. 73

Quite interesting indeed. I haven't seen it before. It would be great to try and replicate this concept. :)
