I subbed after watching the first video. What a fabulous job you are doing on the video production, from the footage to the narration, to the music. Its like watching art. You can really tell everything about this is a labor of love. Even mom pointing out the scratch she made all the years ago. I bet pop was none to pleased when that happened. As others have commented on both videos, please please leave this old girl as close to original as possible, dents, scratches and all. Wow Johnny nice video, very touching, restoring Was the right thing to do, your dad is very proud of you and your mother too, this truck is well worth it It is part of the family, we Enjoyed watching thanks Mike and cam from California.
I love these old trucks.I restored a 55 ford pickup from the ground up.wish I still had it.thank you for good memories. will be glad to see it when its done.Thank you.
I have the same truck with a nearly identical story. My father-in-law bought his 1954 F100 at the local Ford dealership in Pawnee City, Nebraska. It's a straight six, though. Used it on the farm for years, drove it back and forth to California several times, etc. It was last licensed in 1982. Being up here in the rust belt, to say it's in worst shape than yours is a huge understatement. I look at the clean metal on your dad's old truck and it makes me envious. I don't have the money to make it as nice as I want, but I will make it drivable, safe, and fun.
I just came across your channel and I watched both videos about this truck. I subscribed and will be looking forward to seeing this truck get restored. The history of this truck makes it special.
I hope we'll get a third episode from you all. Looking forward to seeing it. Was sad to part with my 1980 Chevy K10 (same year as me) last fall that had always taken a sticker. Didn't have the time to keep it going how it deserved, and a gal restarting their family farm needed a good farm truck and wanted to restore it like she did with her dad growing up. I knew he was going to a good home. I do miss Buhbuh.
This is not only one of the most impactful and emotional car videos I’ve ever seen, but it’s shot beautifully as well. They way you talk about your dad’s love for this truck, I’m sure he’s got a huge grin watching you give new life to it. Keep up the great work and can’t wait to see the finished result!
I'm a Mopar guy myself, but i've always liked the old ford trucks. Its really cool what you're doing with it. im hopeful an update video is coming soon.
In 1950 my granddad got fed up with his Buick eight destroying transmissions and bought a 1950 ford sedan, I was 6 so it was my pleasure to ride in the backseat while we toured the country round. (Saskatchewan farm country) when I was fourteen he replaced that beauty with a two-door '56 ford sedan which I leaned to drive in. After that came the Mercury highway cruiser and I went away to sea for seven years. I got back from Vietnam in '68 and the family contracting firm was still using '54 Ford pickups and that was my ride until motorcycles took over. love what you're doing. Johnny Tripp
OMG... I'm sitting here with tears rolling down my face watching this! Please don't change that paint! Every scratch holds a memory. I love this and it makes me miss my dad! He had a F100 Unibody that I grew up in. I'd give anything to have it! At the 1:35 mark of this video, I completely lost it! Absolutely awesome!
Long story short, my grandmother gave me her 1953 Ford F100 pick up, 50th anniversary edition with 73,000 original miles on it all numbers matching, ran fine was used to haul leaves in the fall for several years that’s what grandma used it for. She saved this truck for me for over 20 years. I lived in Phoenix, and she lived in the St. Louis area. By the way I love cars and trucks. I was married and had saved my money to have the truck transported to Phoenix from St. Louis,I had the truck shipped to me and started to restore it, but didn’t have the money or the time at the time, oh my dad who also loves cars and trucks had just retired ,and I figured he needed something to do so I signed the truck over to him, no money exchanged and After dad and I rented a U-Haul trailer and used his other truck we spent two days car trailer hauling it back to St. Louis where my dad lives. Dad did a two year frame off rotisserie restoration of the truck, and it turned out beautiful, the best part of the story is my grandmother seen the truck all taken apart in my dad‘s garage and said you’ll never get that back together in my lifetime and my dad did get it back together in her lifetime and she was the first one to ride in the truck after the restoration was complete And grandma said it was nicer than when she had bought it when it was one year old, that has been over 20 years ago my dad still has the truck and is going to will it back to me when he passes. My parents have had fun with the truck they’ve entered it in parades and auto shows. And the numbers matching truck now has about 79,000 miles on it.
Great video! What a great tribute! A few years ago, I restored my dad’s first new car. A 1965 Plymouth that my dad stop driving in 1985. What a great time to stand with my dad and see my son and his new bride leave the church in my dad’s newly restored, old Plymouth.
I can't wait for the rest of this series! I agree with the comments about fixing any serious metal issues and just clear coating it to preserve it and just getting it running. It's beautiful!
From Australia. Guys great videos, your Dad will be extremely proud. I've owned a 1980 Australian XD Ford Falcon for almost 40 years. It was my first car I ever bought back in 1982. I bought my daughter home in it 30 yrs ago. Recently it was her wedding car that drove her to her new husband. My daughter and my 2 sons feel about the car as you do about your Dad's F100. That's how I know how he would feel. Cheers, great success with your rebuild and God bless.
Awesome! I am commenting from Colombia, South America, my dad used to have one of this great Ford trucks but it was a 1955 F-100 and I have such a great memories, good to see you guys taking care of this vehicle in memory of a loving father, hope to see the end result of this restoration, wish you guys the best
If the truck turns out as well as these videos are produced, you'll darn sure have a winner! I was gonna cuss here, but I know this is a family rated program.God bless all of you!
Multumesc pentru acest exemplu de respect si dragoste pentru parinti. Doresc sa o vad pe mama dumneavoastra atunci cand o sa vada acest proiect demn de toata lauda, terminat. Va rog sa continuati !
I'll follow for sure, The more I look at this truck the more I would rebuild it the same way Davin Reckow at Hagerty did his 1960 Chevy. He wanted to not rebuild but put the truck back on the road. It was a very interesting serie to watch this old truck come back to life.
Having watched the first part and learning the history of your Father and the truck, that tune sent a chill down my spine... From the drum clips to the 'first scratch' and through the family participation in this project - you have my respect
What a great story and project! Your video work is also very well done. The shots are well composed and the transitions are thoughtful and engaging! Keep up the good work! Looking forward to more!
Hello to you and your family. Just came across the two videos, both are fantastic. I hope everything is well and look forward to seeing the series continue if and when it does. All the best from Canada, cheers, Griff. 👍👊🍻
Just come across this video. Don't think I would have done a full restoration. Only wiring deep clean. Engine seals etc. Nice set of tyres. Polished up the original paint work. Up rated brakes. Good storie about your dad and I guess you know what he would have wanted. Good luck with the build.
Thank you for sharing the 2 vids youve made of the start of your Dad's truck restoration. Im sure making vids are a pain and take a lot of time but, youve done a wonderful job so far and i'm sure all will agree that youve gained a lot of interest from those that have viewed them. Please try to produce more as you can. Its this kind of content on youtube that makes it worthwhile. Thank you, again.
So nice of you to honor your dad like this. My dad had a 1965 Ford. Wish I had never of sold it. He had a little 7 acre farm 5 miles out of a little Louisiana. He spent his retirement years enjoying that farm and I have lots of fond memories going over on weekends to help him garden and work on fences. God bless. A Louisiana boy.
Looking forward to this road you and your family are going down. I'm excited to see the finished product and am enjoying hearing the story behind the truck.
Great memories you guys brought to me< I live in Colombia< South America and my Dad had a 1955 F-100 Red in Color, I learn to drive in it, lots of power and easy manual transmission, I'll be waiting for the end product no matter how long it takes! Buena suerte y muchas Gracias de nuevo
Hello there, hailing from Pakistan, love your family project, video nicely done not too long or too short just about right. Looking forward to watching your next video.
It's an absolutely beatiful time capsule exactly as it is. If it's not too late to suggest it, maybe just start with a mechanical restoration and put some miles on it for a year. Whatever you decide to do with it, I'm happy for you and hope it becomes exactly what you want it to be.
I don't even know why this came up in my recommended videos and I don't know why I clicked play but I'm sure glad I did. Really looking forward to seeing more on this truck in memory of your dad. Respect to you all from me here in the UK.
Been thinking of this series since day one of the second part. It is a shame that we never got a part 3 so far of this series. However, from what we have seen it is certainly a story to behold. I would like to assume that it did get finished - and that they never got around to getting the video put together. That it is now in the family and well taken care of. Regardless, the stories presented to us are something special and I am very grateful they were shared.
I think it's commendable of you to honor your dad by resurrecting and restoring his first-ever new truck. It's even more priceless that you have original old photos from the 1950s, of him and his truck. Always had a fondness for the Y-block OHV Ford V8s. I think '54 was the first year for the OHV Y-block. God bless you and your family for making this a reality.
I watched the video about the restoration of your father's car, and this work indicates your love and devotion to the family. I hope with all my heart that it will be done in the most beautiful way. From the State of Kuwait. 🇰🇼🇰🇼🇰🇼🇰🇼🇰🇼🇰🇼 in the Arabian Gulf
I subscribed for a couple reasons. First, I love the truck and will really enjoy watching it's resurrection. Second, and most important, I love the story. It is obvious that this is a labor of love, and that makes any project worth doing, but the love for your dad seems to be the biggest motivating factor for this restoration. That alone will make this worth following. I would also like to comment on what a wonderful job you have done on the two videos I watched. You have provided both a visual and audio storyline that allows the viewer an informative and relaxed experience. Most of us love nostalgia, and the tone you have set provides us opportuity to soak in days gone by. Looking forward to more.
Very nice truck, it is good that you're restoring it for the honor of your dad ad it is worth keeping and restoring. Regards from Hamid Alghamdi I am a ford fan from Jed Saudi Arabia, keep up the good work
I was very close to my Dad, also. (Actually, both of my parents of course). I wish I had one of my Dad’s trucks to do the same thing, but I’ll just live vicariously through your restoration of this one. For all of us, please keep telling your Dad’s stories during the process, so we can get to know him too. Thank you.
I have to opportunity to my grandfathers 54 F100 inline 6 for purchase that's been sitting for 35 years in a shed. She's fairly rough but am considering. Fond memories of riding in the back of "the ole" truck on those hot summer TN days growing up. Definitely would love to see a part 3
Man I love these early F100s. Had a few of them years ago. Lots more to the custom cab than the radio and dome light though. Bright trim around the windows, door panels, and(get this) the key hole on the drivers side door. Standard cab only had it on the passenger side. She’s a beauty. Peace to you.
I love this video. I hope my son can live memories like this restoring my old truck some day. For now we're still waiting for him to be old enough to ride shotgun.
This video brought back so many memories of me as a kid and our '53 with a flathead V8. Learned to drive a stick shift with that old truck back in '61 when I was 10 years old out in the pasture. Wish I had one now.
Hoping for a part 3! Going to be picking up a 54 this weekend for my dad as a father's day/early 54th birthday present as it's his dream year truck. It'll need work, but I know he'll love it! Hope the restoration is going great!
my uncle Jack, who lived across the street from us, had a 1950 or so Ford truck. you always knew by the sound of it climbing the hill to his house that he was home. very distinctive. good luck with your project
Almost patiently waiting. I almost wish you didn't post anything until you could have posted everything at once. Waiting for the next one is going to be hard. These are the type of videos I sincerely enjoy watching the most. No crazy camera flipping around all over the place. No one acting silly thinking that they're making a "cool" video. Nice simple music complements, and doesn't distract from the video. Great camera views. Simple but nice transitions from different scenes. Nice narration. Great job overall. Hoping to see a lot more in the VERY near future!
Man you guys sure live in some pretty country , I think it's awesome what you guys are doing , I think it's great that you guys still have the truck and hopefully it will always stay in your family and can't wait to see the progress on it . I hope you guys put up more videos as it comes along . God speed & God bless!!
I was thinking about trying to find an older model truck for me and my brother to resort and the first video that I clicked on was yours. I like what you are doing and what made it funny to me is that I live about an hour and a half east in Jones county
....and your only the 2nd person to identify that music on the soundtrack!! The only other person is the guy actually doing the work on the truck! I figured nobody would pick that tune ... Johnny Smith
@@dadstruckrestoration8112 I clocked it - one of my very favourite soundtracks! Did a road trip to the Sad Hill Cemetary in Spain few years ago with my kids. However, just makes me even more pissed that you didn't continue with this series - now I have to find another source of education for my build
Beautiful old truck you have there. I love the story, and the legacy. I've got my dad's '59 Skyliner. While she's been in the family for 42 years, he didn't buy her new, and she's always been the show car in the garage. Not the same as a working vehicle that earned its keep. I'm very much looking forward to watching this process unfold.
Your background music ( Good Bad Ugly) made me tear up, it went prefect while you were getting the truck ready to go. Nice work, I am sure your Dad is very proud of you guys, I don't even know you, and I am proud of you.
Excellent video and the music was so perfect. This gave me goosebumps thinking of the history of "Dad's". You are so fortunate to be able to get to fix this up. I didn't know my dad and I know you must be proud. Now I must subscribe and watch the whole restoration. May God be with you and your family.
That was so good to watch mate, thanks heaps for sharing your story with everybody. I am just about to have a beer mate and I will raise my glass to you, your Dad and the truck.
Just commented on your "The Beginning" vid. Watched that before watching this, but this is the vid I actually stumbled on that led me to this story. As a fellow F100 ('56) owner, I'm smiling ear-to-ear watching your journey.
Thats a family heirloom. Keep it original. Great to see family cpme out to help. Always keep it in family. We just bought our sister in laws 03 ford f250. It was in her family for years too. Gonna keep it in my family to. It has a forever home, just like your truck. Good luck on restoration. Gods speed and many blessings. 😁
Love these videos, really looking forward to part 3! Best to you all, this truck has such a great story. Would be hard for me to paint over those memories
Out standing that the family got together and helped in every way they could. Each one will feel pride in this project.
Excellent series... My Dad was born in the same year (1933). I have a great admiration for people from this generation !!
Can’t wait to see that old girl fixed up. He would be proud.
Awesome start to a series for all of us to follow! Please keep updates coming!
Repairing and painting over moms scratch would be akin to filling in and welding the crack on the Liberty Bell and I think once all the battle scars are gone, you will miss them terribly. I cannot wait for the next installment.
Thank you for saving another classic pick up from being crushed.
This would be a great series, We need a part 3
I'm sure corona-aids has put it on hold, I really do hope to see Pt3
Progress is being made on the truck ... I’m overdue fir a video .. thanks for your patience !!
@@dadstruckrestoration8112 Please upload an update when you can. Thanks a lot.
@@dadstruckrestoration8112 cant wait to see video 3
Been watching for a new video. Hope the resto is going well.
Simply a beautiful emotional story, awaiting for part 3 and.....
Really looking forward to the next installment. I hope you are doing well and I wish you all he best.

What a great thing you are doing to honor your dad! Can’t wait to see the finally restore.
I am redoing a 1965 f100 right now. first time I ever did a frame off resto. can't wait to see what yours looks like.
So many people rod these trucks out, it will be very nice to see one that is unmolested and done right to preserve the memories it represents.
Amazing tribute to your father. God bless you and God bless america
Funny, my 51 F3 just has the door lock on the passenger side, could never figure that out...
Going to try to help get my grandpas old '48 running again soon. Looking forward to seeing how your dad's truck turns out!
I can hardly wait for the next vid. Your Dads story and his truck have me hooked. I love that you are doing this for your Dad.
Cant wait to see how it turns out!! Keep us posted!!! The music from good the bad and the ugly was a nice touch too!👍🏻😂
Me too!
....and your only the 2nd person to identify that music on the soundtrack!! The only other person is the guy actually doing the work on the truck!
I figured nobody would pick that tune ...

@@dadstruckrestoration8112 when can we expect a follow up video? It’s been a year, I can’t wait to see the progress.
I will wait for the next episode. Wish you the best. Regards from Lisbon/Portugal.
I love your story and I love this old truck. My grandfather had an old truck like that for his service station. I’d give anything to have it today.
WOW ...What a treasure you have there with a V-8 AND ALL so original ...love it from Australia :)
A good old truck in the hands of good old home folks. This is gonna go well. I'm looking forward to seeing the completion of this one.
Watching from Queensland Australia, we are excited for you too
What a heartwarming journey, I wish you all the best, cannot wait to see the finished product, God Bless you and your Family.
I hope this resto is still being worked on. Great content, terrific quality video and editing. What a pleasure to watch!

Very cool...glad you keeping her original, looking foward to updates.
Working on my Grandfather’s 53 F-250 stake bed. Quite the ranch truck. Learned to drive it when I was 14.
A fitting tribute to your father. Thanks for the history. Really looking forward to following your progress. Best regards.
We need part 3 cant wait till you post it.
Your dad would be proud. Well done.
