    I do remember during 1988 while going from Madurai to Rameswaram in Steam Engine train, my uncle went to the engine and asked for hot water, the driver lifted one lever and hot water came, which was used to prepare milk for his baby.

    A beautifully produced clip taking the viewer back on a nostalgic trip. The interiors of the metre gauge coaches could have been shown. I still recollect the odour of smoke coming out of the steam engine. The sound of the engine while in motion used to be fascinating. The only problem was coal particles getting into your eyes during travel if you sat by the window. My last trip by a steam hauled train was between Madurai and Mayiladuturai by the Tirupati Express in 1989.

    Steam Engines train take me down the memory lane in 1972 or before that when perhaps I have seen Engine train for the first time or second time in Sealdah station of KOLKATA then we were going to Krishnanagar of West Bengal. Stations always remained full of black smoke emitted from Engine trains. Not only that dust of ashes of coals always keep flying in and around the stations. What kind of magical sounds created by Engine trains. The sound of whistle would make me really indifferent and take me in far land. When those trains pass going making the strange sounds from wheels then absolutely a great feeling covered our minds. The burning fire inside the Engine and strange smell of water steam and burning coals are strange. So huge train and we waited when the drivers would make whistle to start the train. People would not want to sit beside the window in fear of that burning coal could fall in eyes or ashes of coal dust could fall in the eyes. Everything coming in minds by watching this video. Great documentary of Steam Engine trains. 3/2/21/

      @nayankalitadualcitizen 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chandrakantmishra1651 what are you smoking? Coal smoke? An efficient diesel or petrol is way cleaner than coal. Coal smoke has more carcinogens and causes much more soot deposits along the track. Add to it fire hazards during the drier months. Heritage runs are fine, widespread coal run trains will be a disaster today with the density of population and the number of other vehicles we have.

      Saibal Mitra UK has more than 500 such locos of different types. preserved and in working condition. we had an evil railway minister in the early 90,s who was personally responsible for turning most steam locomotives of India in perfect condition to scrap metal.
      just come back from UK. sat in 2 steam loco trains. and these locos there look brand new even though they are like 75 years plus old.
      the feeling is truly magnificent which I can't describe while traveling in those trains.
