This is complete fabrication and skewed to one narrative. I lived in and around downtown Akron from 90 to 03. Not once did the innerbelt block me from getting around and visiting friends in Edgewood, Summit Lake and Kenmore areas. According to the story the wall blocks him from visiting people on the other side. There is nothing but commercial property on the other side. The only apartments downtown were the Mayflower, where I lived, and the other old hotel on W State. While the innerbelt was a mistake in making it, it's been nothing but a screw up ever since they started messing with it. I used it all the time to bypass the downtown traffic. I would come off the Y get right on the belt and take it down to Firestone park area.
Put the road back? That was the road to downtown. What road do people travel on now to get to children’s hospital for example? Yeah sht dangerous roads. Akron made a mess of that whole area and the never ending construction on the highway. Going on 13 years now and STILL not finished. But sad stories are cool too. Today will be tomorrow’s sad story and those road will still suck. Best advice is move out of Akron. 😉
Could make it into like a las Vegas strip or could make it a drag strip or something personally it pisses me off that I pay taxes and y'all are still working on the highway still and now I'm being told that back in the day the taxes that those people paid for a highway that isn't even being used so if what y'all are building right now with my tax money that's just going to end up like something like this that's why akron's shitt and nobody wants to come to Akron and if they do it's because of LeBron James and he don't even want to be in Akron
Wow. Lots of drama and emotion over about 0.6 miles of pavement. They should build EV charging stations that nobody will use. The best option would be to pull up all of the pavement, plant some grass and keep it mowed, clean and safe so the degenerates of society stay away and good people can enjoy the space. And no urban murals.
